On Thread Etiquette:

I'm not going to weigh in on the logic of either side's arguments, but I will ask that everyone read over what they write and really consider if the words they used are polite and won't be inflammatory intentionally or not. You cant account for people's tolerances perfectly but at least try to say your piece without saying things that can be easily construed as overly dismissive of the other side of the argument, thank you.

Please endeavour to be cordial. :^)

What sort of materials native to Ulthuan would the dwarves want and elves be willing to trade right now? What about the reverse? I'm trying to get a handle on what goods are worthwhile enough to send wlven merchants across the sea of claws.
I'm having trouble finding specifics, but I'm pretty sure that the American colonies were able to trade food back to Europe, which is probably vaguely comparable in terms of distance and technology. Fish in specific would be a good trade good, since I'm pretty sure that they could fish near Barak Var or Kraka Ravnsvake, even if preservation technology isn't up for long term transport. Textiles could also be lucrative, as could lumber since the Karaz Ankor isn't deeply forested for the most part. While I doubt that dwarfs in general would favor elven crafted goods or alcohols, at this point it's possible for some individuals to have a taste for them at this point.

The Elves should also be setting up their Old World colonies at this point, and could trade agricultural goods, lumber, and fish from there directly to Karaks that aren't near the sea.

will making a nigh anatomically correct bloodthirster size adamant gronti increase the adamant cost?

This was never exclipitly stated, and fully depends on the author's creativity.

Some examples of potential Ulthuani trade goods:

-magical alloys, enchanted objects, silk, fine pottery, exotical magical reagents (phoenix feathers, merwyrm scales), wine (maybe wine derivites as well), artistic trinkets, all manner of woodcarvings and timber types, spices, dyes, perfumes, leather, bone and fur of all kind of strange creatures, exotic fruit, exotic minerals...

If there's anything from Ulthuan I want to work with, it's Sea Gold. Somehow it's a form of gold that you can make practical weapons and armor from.

Given how much Dawi LOVE gold? And how much they focus on all its variants?

The Standing gain would be delicious.

I'm curious what would be the reaction if Snorri outfit an entire elven merchant or noble family with runeworks, could give him a strong foothold in Ulthuan and get him exotic reagents if they're explorers or traders by sea.

Hmm, actually, @soulcake, does the Rune of Reloading increase the rate of fire or does it eliminate the need for a dwarf to do the reloading?
Rate of Fire.

Canonically according to Grudgelore, there was an exchange of tools and luxuries. The elves wanted Dwarf Craftsmanship, even if they weren't as fond of the aesthetics, while the Dwarfs wanted things from far off lands they had no access too. Spices, rare textiles, ivory, that sort of stuff, and gems and Gold too of course. Basically going places Dwarfs werent capable of and then trading those luxuries for Dwarf craftsmanship.

@soulcake Can we use our new understanding of the Rune of Waking to make a self-playing instrument apparatus?

Edit: For completionist's sake, I want it able to be "taught," or at least fed, new melodies so that it can play multiple songs on command.

Ah crap! Now that I remember it, we still have not made a proper Banner for the Hearth Guard yet!

Also, we should give some sort of special equipment for the Leader of the Hearth Guard too. Maybe a special talisman or armor?

And expanding them would also be a great choice for later. We do need a lot more if we want to provide more aid!

We are likely to be standing 10 right from the beginning when the new hold is founded. Shame that as a new hold it isn't going to be able to offer us much in the way of a bonus. Unless they get really lucky on the scouting rolls and build on top of some major resource. Incidentally anyone feel like writing an Omake on the subject?

I disagree. I think there's something they have we wouldn't be able to find elsewhere. Rangers of the Dum Survivor variety. They spent who knows how long learning to stay as hidden as possible while conducting an underground gureilla war against the chaos dwarfs. That's going to give them some very unique and well honed skills. They'll make great recruits when we decide to expand the Hearthguard.

Also, not gonna find many others who hate hate hate hate hate Hashut that much. That alone has a lot of value for hunting down and whacking Hashut. Hard.

...huh, come to think of it, the Master Rune of Waking might be better termed as the Master Rune of Life.
It brings the inanimate to life. Thus it works best with anatomically correct living creatures, as they come to life as the creature would.
Mechanisms SORT of work, but inefficiently, because they can move on their own but aren't quire alive.

From another race it might well have been named that! But Dwarves seem to hold that life is in stone and metals and the bones of the earth, because that's where they originated.

Planet Mundus is a giant sleeping Dwarf.
The Dawi are Cybertronians and Mundus is Primus
future scene of Snorri walking into the core of the planet and slamming a giant red rune yelling "AWAKEN MUNDUS!"

I do so hope that with all these multitasking talks, we dont do the daft beardling thing of offering anything to Valaya's Cult without studying Hearthstone. Not only did we get told by Valaya herself that
the hold with those wonderful stones
the stones were wonderful, but also the fact that the Hearthstones were the one thing Valaya found notable about Kraka Drakk.

she might find the new prosthetics even more notable. 'What a sweet beardling helping out his fellows, I better remember to have some stonebread the next time I see him.' :V

But if we call it MLife then that ends with us digging up the wifes body to carve it on her.
