I'm not going to weigh in on the logic of either side's arguments, but I will ask that everyone read over what they write and really consider if the words they used are polite and won't be inflammatory intentionally or not. You cant account for people's tolerances perfectly but at least try to say your piece without saying things that can be easily construed as overly dismissive of the other side of the argument, thank you.

What is Snorri's current standing with Yorri? Couldn't find it in the info page.

What's the maximum age dwarf that would still be happy to join the Hearth Guard? Snorri's age minus 100 years? 150?

WRT the 'new hold' work, am I right in assuming the maximum actions we could devote to the Simple 8-action request is 3? 1 action locked for other new hold work, one for apprentice teaching, and 3 free ones? Or is the locked new hold action applicable to Simple request, for a potential maximum of 4 actions?
He's your master.

Younger than you, haven't given much thought on such a thing but that might work as a ballpark.

You'll have a maximum of three actions until you release your apprentices. The devoted action and retainer action is more on the political and long term planning side. The simple request is the material side.
 
You know, we should try and make something using purely Deep Magic to power its Runes. After Snorri gets the elven books on the Winds he should have a fair idea of what they are.

We know that the Winds weaken deep underground so I'm thinking that we hire the miners guild to dig a hole deep into the earth, and when I say deep I mean deep, like miles and miles down. Once their done digging we would have Snorri make a small workshop at the bottom and rune the ever loving hell out of it to keep as much of the Winds out as we can with Runes of Warding and Sanctuary and Spellbreaking and MValaya.

Once the workshop is setup we have Snorri try and make a simple Gronti while attempting to only draw upon the Deep Magic Barak Azamar is able to draw up with its Conduit of the Earth. And it should be a Gronti we try to make as we know the MWaking is already linked to Deep Magic.

I get being doubtful about events you can't personally verify, but the particular way these omakes approach it seem to imply these scholars either consider what should be a familiar concept fundamentally suspicious or the dwarves an unreliable source of information. It's kind of hard to buy those positions given the overt nature of gods in warhammer and the history the empire had with the dwarves.

They're fundamentally suspicious of the veracity of the myths and legends detailing who the gods are. This is not exclusive to Dwarven but also includes the gods of man and elves. They recognize that the most devout priests have capabilities beyond the ken of others, but point out, perhaps rightly or perhaps incorrectly, that there is little outside of dogma indicating where those powers come from. It could certainly be a source of power outside the norm that can only be reached with a sufficiently resonating mindset, but looking for conscience or direction from that power source falls into the trap of confirmation bias.

Additionally, while they have full confidence that the Dwarves are telling the truth as they know it, they find it to be a very different matter to accept on, essentially, tradition that no change to the stories and legends have occurred over the seven millennia of Dwarven empire existence. They find it more likely, to themselves, that these legends have unintentionally been exaggerated and slowly wrapped over the existence of the Dwarves.

These opinions are not, of course, held by all or even a majority. But they are prevalent in these discussions and I feel that scholars would find it more easy and palatable to engage in these, possibly unhealthy, levels of skepticism than doing so with the Empire's own gods. Which might get you a short and painful visit by zealous Witch-hunters.
 
I think that we are going to put extra actions into the new hold to get it over with faster. Would prefer to finish it before we release the apprentices.
 
Well, if we want to do the Yorri Commission, then I don't think we will be able to finish it before the apprentices are released. Which, quite frankly, I would like to do because he's Yorri.

If they're here for just turn 32, then we should just do the Yorri request since we're not taking apprentices till turn 40 or later because of the commitment to founding the new hold.

Turn 33 at the earliest, and even then you still get their actions for that turn. I may change it so that turn timers for Apprentices just tell you when they can get released instead of a countdown.

well...this should be fun narratively...i mean we are putting our full effort into getting shit done for this new hold, and its going to need a runelord worth the salt of their beard to get it done.

otherwise some of our research will FINALLY get done, or at least close enough.
