I'm not going to weigh in on the logic of either side's arguments, but I will ask that everyone read over what they write and really consider if the words they used are polite and won't be inflammatory intentionally or not. You cant account for people's tolerances perfectly but at least try to say your piece without saying things that can be easily construed as overly dismissive of the other side of the argument, thank you.

... Am I weird for not liking the wording of this?
I know it's for the aesthetic and all, but... I don't like how it implies the Drakks aren't doing these things of their own free will, that they aren't capable thinking being in their own right who deserves praise for deeds, instead of Snorri being praised for keeping them around, and I feel it also implies they are just following orders, which they are not.

I'm probably making a big deal out of just a fancy word choice, but it still annoys me a great deal.

Other than that, really awesome update, and I'm fairly certain it's not a divine DRM or Quantum Physics, because both are very out there, and Divine DRM runs counter active to everything we know about Runes by implying that Thungi Controls all Runes enough to force one to not work when observed by someone with Windsight.
 
Thats just how dawi are going to interpret our actions with the drakks. They don't understand that Snorri is great because he took three scaly orphans and gave them a good life. They think he's great because he took a traditional menace to dwarfs and turned it to dwarfen benefit.

Remember that the rumor mill isn't Snorri, or Soulcake saying these things, its other dawi saying stuff, and they can totally be assholes about things.

Dragons have been the bane of Dawi for a long time, with Grudges written and struck out for dragons. Although we took them in because we wanted dragon children, other dawi aren't going to see it that way. They probably see the drakks as assets, rather than give anything like praise for it.

I thought it was due to Karstah not being fully happy with the end product, so her soul rebelled on the creation. Normally I would assume that Karstah could have pushed on and still make a servicable end product, but not when she knows Father Snorri is watching her make something she knows she doesn't fully believe in.
 
Karstah worried me with that Rune forging. I don't know what's worse-the idea that she started to mess it up and felt compelled to finish anyway….

It sounds like, at least by SoulCake's reckoning, that Runecraft is…Not unlike forming Powerstones but with much much more skill and intricacy worked into it so it can do things with the absorbed Winds instead of just being a chunk of stuff solidified. Even if that's not right I like the implicit 'get on my level!' It puts on Mathilde buuut…
Well. We don't know how she'd get the stilling field she'd need to make Umgi Runes, I think?

The item she was making consisted of only regular runes so it should have been safe. It with Master runes that you need to be really careful about messing up. From my read of it is that she didn't mess it up but did everything perfectly but it still failed which was somehow caused by us observing the whole process.

Plus the forging failed at the start of the part of the process where the chance for explosions is highest. It's when the field contracts that power rushes in and where things explode so when it didn't contract, it seems like the rune just fizzled out.
