On Thread Etiquette:

I'm not going to weigh in on the logic of either side's arguments, but I will ask that everyone read over what they write and really consider if the words they used are polite and won't be inflammatory intentionally or not. You cant account for people's tolerances perfectly but at least try to say your piece without saying things that can be easily construed as overly dismissive of the other side of the argument, thank you.

Please endeavour to be cordial. :^)

@soulcake
Please tell me it was just coincidence that we managed to get the second perfect time for the axe right when he was planning a campaign of extermination (perfect timing would be one turn earlier). I love happy coincidences.

When I try to paste anything at all after hitting prtscn it comes up blank.

That is true...I got nothing, I just don't like the writing of having made a way to win, then leaving it behind in a do or everyone dies situation, then getting it again and it not working, even if we assume that to be because the Chaos Gods, as revealed in Realmslayer, were staying well away from the axe.
So, i've read the scene again, and Gotrek did only hit him on the thigh before a Bloodthirster barreled Be'lakor through a portal into the Realm of Chaos, after which the latter escaped.

Well, Gotrek stayed behind so that Grimnir could play a role in the End Times. Except, the End Times were a cavalcade of stupidity and it never came up.

Makes sense that the Dark Gods still fear Gotrek's Axe as much as they do Ghal Maraz.
He hacked down, burying his axe-blade in Be'lakor's thigh. The daemon prince howled, a note of panic buried there in the outpouring of pain. The god-slaying Rune of Unbinding throbbed, like a swallowing throat, gorging hungrily on the shadow magic with which Be'lakor had wreathed himself. Until it was gone. Gotrek wrenched his axe free in a gout of something ethereal and grey.

Be'lakor extended a hand to the Bloodthirster; not to ravage the daemon with magic, for Gotrek's axe had left him with none, but to appeal to the brute's reason.

But Felix had left it with none.

Gotrek sneered, nodding to something in the portal that only he could see. 'It's behind you.'

Felix pushed himself up off his chest to watch in open-mouthed horror as the Bloodthirster trampled over Gotrek and ploughed through. The swipe of its axe severed Be'lakor's outstretched arm at the elbow and bit into his hip, its brazen horns impaling the daemon prince's chest and sending them both – and Gotrek with them – tumbling into the portal.

I though Ancestor Runes were the most difficult runes around?
They are? They sounded like the most forgiving the way @soulcake explained it. The most standard and universally known used in every temple to them and the most versatile because they will adjust themselves to be optimal for whatever item you put them on. You'd think the Runes for the Ancestorsnwould be first a Runelord learns. I mean Snorri already knows two. Why does he not know the ones for Grimnir, Gazul, Morgrim and Thungni?

All but Thungni that you listed, including Valaya and Grungni have simple rune versions. You dont know the Master Rune or even know if a Master Rune for them exists. Gazul discovered the simple versions of his, Grungni, Valaya and Grimnir's runes, Thungni the two younger ancestor runes and the Master versions of his parents.

To your knowledge at least.

They sound more like its difficult to use for specific purposes, but they're good at general purposes.
The Ancestor Runes sound like they have a bit of a will of their own, so if you're relying on a specific effect...pray?

...I bet Gazul's purview over the dead played a part because gods don't die like mortals, so it stands out or some such. Something something he can see their souls something something the one thing shared by all is death something something.

Oh, so we know the lesser version of all their runes?

The way i'd try the permakill combo is a hypothetical master rune of demon slaying, a spell eater rune and a grudge rune.
The grudge rune to represent our grudge against the demons that took our beloved wife.
The spell eater rune to consume something from the demon, leaving them permanently diminished. Take something from them forever, like they took someone from us.
A very personal combination, which should have the metaphysical weight to hopefully perma-kill demons.
Let's try to get a trait that makes us to demons what we are to trolls :).

Replace grudge with the Ancestor Rune of Gazul.

I don't think it would be possible, as i expect ancestor runes to have at least master rune level restrictions on use.
There already is a master tune in the axe.
Replacing the grudge rune also removes what i think is a critical part of the combo: the representation of our loss.

Clearly we should instead make 4 epic weapons... 1 dedicated towards ruining the lines of the followers of each of the big Chaos Gods.

If only we could team up with an enginear to make an epic level Bolt Thrower or Grudge Thrower to last the ages eheheheheh.

Though the former does make me think of one cutscene from an old gave I love called Age of Mythology.

There's lesser non-Master rune versions of the Ancestor runes.

I still think the grudge rune is a better fit for perma kill.
Though i can see why the rune of Gazul could also fit the bill. Rather than using the narrative weight of our grudge/loss, we get strength from our wife who is with Gazul, to empower the rune to repeat the feat we did when we fought to a avenge her.
Option a) weaponizes the grudge b) weaponizes the memory
I prefer option a.
The runelord unlocking deeper secrets of his craft to punish demons more.
The grudge may be settled enough for Mrs Klaus to rest. It still seems like a bit of an open wound on Snorri though.
DEMONS GET COAL FOREVER!

Gormak sniffs loudly enough to get their attention before speaking, "Can't be Winterhearth, the one we want from them would refuse as we are well aware. And I don't have enough information to trust people so new to the hold.
1. The deal with being the direct heir of thungni would've put more pressure on you, but the main issue with being king and runelord is action use. Being king would've cut into your runelord actions. There would've been a vote over it in this if ya hadn't pushed Otrek past the critical point by making him a cool wizbang weapon.

Why be King when you can just have the King indebted to you, all the benefits none of the paperwork.
