On Thread Etiquette:

I'm not going to weigh in on the logic of either side's arguments, but I will ask that everyone read over what they write and really consider if the words they used are polite and won't be inflammatory intentionally or not. You cant account for people's tolerances perfectly but at least try to say your piece without saying things that can be easily construed as overly dismissive of the other side of the argument, thank you.

Please endeavour to be cordial. :^)

My guess on the permakill thing was that it was somehow tied to that demon killing Snorri's wife; maybe he was able to use that to create a rune that was uber-powered against that specific demon, or something?

...maybe we can invent it first?
Hmm, personally I don't see much point to it? Like creating the Rune of Sorcery specifically, there are other Runelords out there and I trust them to make luminary works just like it.

We can spend our time doing other things, like working towards making a Tool the Platonic Ideal of That Tool, Super Golems, and more inventive death traps. And a bunch of other things.

E: Like there are people who are better at the craft than us... and like *makes grabbing motions*... that's fine. Idols to aspire too, guardians of the craft and people, masters upon the mountain top. A bunch of different things to hold them up as, but through it all we can trust in their competence.

@soulcake Okay but would it be possible for us to discover how to do so? Because I do recall the Dwarf that made the Runefangs being able to make a fang that was designed to do just that.
Try it and find out! :^)
So I've just been lurking here about a week now, very fun quest, I just have two questions for the QM.

@soulcake 1: If we had taken the Direct Line Of Thungi in char gen would we have been named King?

2: Can we, and if so how, make our own proper Battle Magic Scale Anvil Of Doom?
1. The deal with being the direct heir of thungni would've put more pressure on you, but the main issue with being king and runelord is action use. Being king would've cut into your runelord actions. There would've been a vote over it in this if ya hadn't pushed Otrek past the critical point by making him a cool wizbang weapon.
2. Anvils of doom not made. Kurgaz, greatest of the Brotherhood of Dron created them(in quest canon) but he isnt a member yet, he may not even be alive yet either! Who knows? :^)

Well anyone have any ideas to how to discover perma killing runes or rune combos? Imagine that we may need to get master Daemon Slaying Runes to figure it out.
My first guess is to do something like Rune of Daemonslaying, Rune of Spellbreaking, Rune of Spelleating. A redux on the Daemonward combo.

Another is Rune of Daemonslaying, Master Rune of Breaking (Because they are magical in nature), and Rune of Spelleating or Rune of Spellbreaking. I expect however that we might need some superior variant of the Master Rune of Gromril, like the Master Rune of Adamant to truly get a Daemonkilling weapon.

To my knowledge there is not a Master Rune of the Dawi, unusually enough. The closest is maybe the First Rune, the Rune of Stone? But truthfully it isn't what you want going by Snorri's description.
Ah, so we could modify the Rune of Stone through research to create a master rune of Dawi? (I vaguely remember the description you speak of saying the Master Rune of Stone being related to Dawi because they came from stone, though I can't find the Rune on the Rune list)
you mean create our very own child and raise it to be a artificial golem/homunculi Runesmith? a immortal indestructible runelord
Yes, though I imagine making them a runelord would require the master rune of Thrungi, or using something related to Thrungi as an ingredient for the theoretical master rune of Dawi

Only problem now is figuring out if the regular rune of animation is good enough to let our homunculus move freely as a normal Dwarf. That would be (theoretically) 1 master rune of Dawi, 1 rune of animation, and one rune representing something about growth, and there we have it, a fully functional homunculus, probably with each part requiring their own specific T5 materials to even make and the engineering guild being needed to design the thing in order to move :D

*taps chin thoughtfully*

Just because we wont be the ones to make it, doesnt mean we cant do what we might be doing with Adamant and figure out the principles behind it for Snorris disciples and descendents to figure out themselves down the line, no?

Don't know if we can get permakilling, which seems to be based more on narrative weight and special circumstances, but as far as "best as killing daemons", it might be that triples (three Runes of Daemon Slaying) is better than any combo, unless of course a Master Rune of Daemon Slaying equivalent is made.

Point there. Stacking Daemonslaying three times on a thing would be very Fuck You In Particular Daemons.

Could try a combination of Rune of Slaying, Nullification and Resonance. The reason Daemons are just banished is because their true forms never materialize in the Materium and it is just an Avatar. So, a combination capable of reflecting the death of the avatar back into the Warp and have it nullify the Warp energy that comprises the true Daemon could work, possibly.

Or we could get more esoteric. Create a Rune of Daemons made from Daemon blood and a Rune of immortality made from a Phoenix, to create a combination of Runes capable of creating a narrative in the Warp about killing immortal creatures.

It is possible to create a Rune all about causing True Death. The Rune of Unbinding does all that and more, with being created to slay the Dark Gods.

I'm half-wondering if permakilling demons as runic combo might need more than three runes, and thus require something absolutely absurd as a material base.

Half the reason why we need to get in contact with Ulthuan. If you want to create a Rune about killing immortal creatures, you likely at least need something of a Phoenix.

The only weapon in history with it is one of Grimnir's Axes, and it's power (which doesn't work) is showed only in End Times.

That said I have hope for a Master Rune of Daemon-Slaying. After all, a Master Rune of Dragon Slaying was invented.

There is a bit of difference there, though. Killing a dragon just requires killing an absurdly tough, powerful, and magically potent being. Perma-killing a demon requires all that plus the ability to essentially destroy its soul; a master rune of demon-slaying is probably possible, but getting it to do more than just destroy the physical form of a demon might be beyond the power of even a master rune if it's acting alone.

Let me clarify: I have hope for a Master Rune of Daemon Slaying equivalent to be possible in some form, doing something beyond a single Rune of Daemon Slaying. Whether it permakills is something else.

It was never shown that the Rune of Unbinding doesn't work, given that it never actually got to a Chaos God.

Sigmar said that the Dark Gods fear Ghal Maraz and they were also said to have feared the Sword of Khaine, which was why they didn't want Aenarion to draw it.

If those two Godly weapons without a specific Dark God killing Rune posed an actual threat to them, I don't see why the Rune of Unbinding on another as potent godly Weapon couldn't have worked if it got to that point.
