Quiet reminder that Ymaryn sexual slang is full of allusions to farming, forestry, and gardening, and then you can go back and read my comments on this thread and wonder how many entendres were involved.

Man, the royal gardner(s) must get real tired of all the jokes about them tending to the King's private gardens :V

IIRC it was mentioned that they'd turn off policies based on IC priorities. Which due to our government system is basically:
1) Is this policy keeping us alive?
2) Is this policy culturally or legally significant?
3) Does any powerful faction want to keep this policy?
4) Does this policy make sense?

Yes, factions go above sense.
Unfortunately true D=

Can we replace total annihilation with a gentle smack with a newspaper that lets them know we're not to be messed with but leaves them largely fine in case we decide we want to be pals later?
We even have evidence of it working
Even better, the greening of the world seemed to convince the nomads out on the plains that not only was there little honour to be had in dying in fighting the People, but there was also little need to steal their cattle and horses to feed their families when the seas of grass had turned from tan to green. The People had their grudges against nomadic groups, but were always willing to set those aside if trade could be had instead of war, so one of their chiefs decided to convince many of the surrounding tribes that they should all just chill out and trade together with the crazy hill people, and for the most part those around him decided that the crazy bastard had a good point. And when the man came to treat with the king, Gonwyllmyn gave him audience.

The two of them got along like trees and water, serious at first but soon enjoying the products of the People and laughing together. While both knew that this friendship was unlikely to last beyond their lifetimes, Gonwyllmyn expressed it best.

"Though the grass may turn dry, the cattle lean, and men's hearts mean, let us not let the possibility of tomorrow's quarrels turn away friendship today. If it is wine's fate to turn sour, does that not mean that we should drink and savour it today? While there is the possibility of peace, I say that we have it!"
Sometime when a Khan listened to Ymaryn drama that they know we aren't to be messed with.
Also evidence of that
Chakur had a curious relationship between himself and the southerners. While some among the tribes under his command felt more affinity for them, he counted himself among those who still found a separation between himself and them. His grandfather had been Phygrif the Conqueror, his father the adult son of that titan of the past. Chakur had lived a long and mostly peaceful life, a curious position that he was still not sure about. On the one hand the southerners had little interest in war as a people, but on the other hand when they did fight it was with a ferocity and intensity that Chakur and the Hawks had long ago agreed they were glad was on their side.

We have evidence that not going on genocidal sprees at every turn works.

@veekie, you have been warned before about using funnies on people you disagree with, like you have done here, so I'm just going to jump to the part where I infract you for 25 points and ask you not to repeat this.

@Burnlogic, as I have explained multiple times, in this very thread there are some things which Sufficient Velocity as a forum, as a community, simply does not have room for. One of these is the advocacy of genocide, whether fictional or factual. Your conduct in this thread has been violation after violation of this principle, enshrined in the second rule of Sufficient Velocity and you have, by your own admission chosen your name specifically to advocate scorched earth tactics, while your conduct has been several, repeated calls for brutal genocide.

This is an egrerious breach of Rule 2, and I am thus putting you on indefinite suspension from the functions and conduct of this forum until a satisfactory resolution has been found.

Do enjoy the vacation and consider your situation should you return.

[X] Whoever surrenders may join the People (-1 Stability, -1 Legitimacy, -1 RA, 2 temp Econ damage, -2 EE, +2 Light Cavalry, Additional Disease Roll, ???)

Now that the guy voting against accepting the surrender is banned, I wonder if we'll get a nice narrative for near unanimity.

Yeah the narrativ is exile those who don't agree with your laws, least the gods strike you down

While this is in no way meant to be a critique on @ManusDomine part, especially since I agree with it, it is sadly it's what's it basically boils down to, should AN take something from this

More likely the narrative is consensus, some strongly opinionated priests on both sides starting a small riot and then everyone being spanked and business resumes.
I can see the king complaining about a massive headache after the whole mess that the vote was, with him bitterly noting that the vote was never in doubt, it was just a handful of people loudly debating over inconsequential issues.

Our poor kings, they actually have to listen to those debates for hours on end in real time.
