Share what we know and suspect of the Five.
Concern: This kills the Hazou.

I may or may not be right, but my impression is that Kei and Shikamaru currently strongly suspect that Hazou knows way more than he should, and Hazou knows that they know, so all three are very careful not to overtly confirm that, because it'll force Shikamaru and Kei into action against Hazou, and none of them want that. We need to dance around that very carefully.

If you want to be very bold, I suggest leaning into "mention Kei's reaction to Yuno speaking about them". Frame it as us getting very curious about whatever spooked Kei back then, and vaguely wondering if it may be relevant, as if we don't already know it's very likely very relevant. This will preserve the appearances of Hazou not knowing anything, yet convey the actual message to Kei, and on another level, signal that we're really pushing for them to share the information.

Alternatively, just talk to Ami. With her it's actually open mutual knowledge that we know too much and she didn't kill us yet, so maybe it'll be fine.

(Warning: I'm currently about to fall asleep, and historically, bold plans generated by me in this state turn out very poorly.)

I think she's in Grass right now for AMITY
So we'd be randomly leaving Leaf and entering a foreign nation without approval and crashing a delicate diplomatic mission in addition to snooping around the most closely guarded secret of the closest thing to the Illuminati the setting has?

yawn

... I don't see the issue.

I think we pretty much told Shikamaru all that we actually know about the Five in the second April 1st update.

Read the plans over again and changed my mind:

[X] Action Plan: You're Our Grandpa Now, Accept the inevitable

Main thing I'd like to see in this plan is an explicit mention of the Yamanaka Training Jutsu, which is both the best idea we have and the (probably) easiest one to get permission for. I don't want more 'Hazou is an idiot' comedy because someone IC has to remind him that the Yamanaka Training Jutsu exists.

Also, just for completeness:
[X] Training Plan - Hazo: FOOM Step
[X] Training Plan - Kei: Alertness Support
[X] Training Plan - Akane: FOOM Step

[x] Action Plan: You're Our Grandpa Now, Accept the inevitable
Words: 296
  • Sanity check with Mari
    • Your grandma had a brain illness. Any advice/help?
  • Kumafuwafuwa and Mareo:
    • Our village may have resources that can help but we'll need to ask permission. Are you interested in us pursuing this?"
    • We don't want to promise anything for fear of creating false hope, but we'd like to be able to ask around to see what the options are.
      • This is your body, your mind, we won't do or say anything if you don't want us to. We understand privacy.
  • Snowflake and Kei: tell about Mareo, do you know if any way to help? We like him and want to help. Don't look at us like that, we don't have a problem, we can stop adopting people anytime we like
    • Bribe Kei with Yuno's homemade carrot cake and Snowflake with her favorite Isan dessert (Hazou should know this from Snowflake's Goketsu adoption)
    • (Tone: heartfelt) Tenten, we're glad you're okay. Did our seals help? Any feedback/optimization suggestions?
  • Offscreen
    • Noburi:
      • Tell about Mareo. Tsunade did some funky stuff to Mari's brain so they could talk, back when Hana broke her. Do you think there might be a medical jutsu that can heal/mitigate Wandering Wits?
    • Ino:
      • Tell about Mareo. Is there any way to help his Wandering Wits? If it's a matter of clan secrets, we understand and will understand/not be upset. If it's something available for trade, we can negotiate on that, too.
    • Retired Chunnin: any advice?
    • 10 day sealing plan
      • It gets us to the 16th, i.e. Nobs finishing ACE and Kagome finishing his training.
      • Use SSA to work on MARS if Hazoupilot is confident
      • Keep sending Mareo gift baskets and visiting him during Sealing-Rest Days. Bring him some apple brandy, the best the Goketsu can afford.
@RandomOTP I made some edits to your plan, it currently stands at 310 words, for a 10 day plan, that's pretty painful in terms of missed XP. This version is 296, minor edits to WC mostly. Although I did change the apple brandy bullet. IMO it's disrespectful for Hazou to presume to tell this guy how much he can drink, and Hazou should be demonstrating the benefits of having a connection to human civilization. Like specialty goods the Bears can't make.

Changes made. Mostly word count alterations. Included Hazou mentioning YTJ, specifically, as per @Inferno Vulpix's request.

I think we pretty much told Shikamaru all that we actually know about the Five in the second April 1st update.

This is not actually true, I note. Hazou does heavily suspect/conjecture that all of the thinker clans have an eldritch entity stuck in their heads and that this is the source of their bloodline.

To my recollection we have not ever stated this out loud.

"Going back to the original topic," he said firmly. "I was saying that I think 'the Five' are otherworldly entities that those bloodlines can tap into and use to enhance their thinking in various ways. The question becomes: Why? And why was Keiko so adamant about keeping that information from us when Yuno started to spill it? Do the clans have a...a purpose to keep the entities sealed? Are the entities malevolent, beneficent, or uncaring? Who knows about it?"

Sorry, I hadn't realized the deadline had passed!!!

For full transparency: The pre-deadline plan wouldn't have contained any brevity XP (it was 296 words), Hazou wouldn't have remembered about the YTJ, and that we only would've put a "small amount of apple brandy in one" of the gift baskets.

I'm sorry for the mistake and whatever raise in spoon-cost this might've caused!

No worries. It doesn't raise spoon cost for me per se. It's just dubious democratically (really, any editing at the very final moment is a little dubious), and it makes me feel guilty for not closing voting on the dot to prevent this kind of thing.

If it eases your worries, I suspect a significant majority of voters would prefer the vote being closed as late as reasonably possible, even if that made the deadline less predictable.

I do find the deadline being first thing when I wake up Wednesday morning difficult, since it means I feel compelled to lock in any voting before bed, just in case. Big plan alternations are a no-go, but not being able to do things like word optimization for XP at the last minute feels bad (and reminiscent of too many school projects to think about with a but of existentialism).

This was in a plan a few updates ago, but I now feel it may simply be easier to ask this info out-of-chapter.
@eaglejarl @Velorien Does Hazou or Mari know the current status of the SSSSS? In Oro's mission report did he "accidentally" kill them off? If not, does Mari think we still need to adopt one of them?
Hazō does not know their current status. They haven't shown up in Leaf yet.

@eaglejarl @Velorien Have we adopted anyone yet? If not, are either of you interested in writing the adoption ceremony?
@Velorien assures me that at some point we said you've adopted four chūnin.

@Velorien assures me that at some point we said you've adopted four chūnin.
I couldn't find anything regarding this on discord or on SV, closest thing I saw was this:
How many do you currently have (prior to adopting any chūnin), and where are they from?

Additionally, can we get names + specializations (IE Taijutsu with some trapping, Genjutsu with some socials, etc)? I am also amenable to saving this information for an update if either of you want to write their adoptions/introductions then instead of in a bullet point list

We've adopted Atomu, Reo, and Mai, who are Chunin, as well as Akane (though she was adopted before becoming a Chunin IIRC).
