There's another way to defeat a foe with localized omniscience: it doesn't matter if they can make the perfect choice for any given decision if there is no route that leads to victory. All you need is enough overwhelming superiority that you can account for and neutralize every theoretical counter or escape route.
Wonder how much information the light entering your zone contains about the environment outside the zone normally

[X] Action Plan: Are Your Wits Wandering? Better Go Catch Them!
Mareo/Kumafuwafuwa (can be offscreened)
Oddly enough, I kinda want to switch the order such that it implies we ask Kumafuwafuwa. Dunno if it's a good idea, though.
If Ino agrees, have Kei pass a permission request/brief explanation to Asuma through the 7th Path.
Can't we get Noburi to do this? I mean, we're already talking to him about it (below), and I'm pretty sure Noburi has the connection with Asuma.
Prep proposal with Mari/Noburi, ask Noburi to help pitch idea. Bring any interested civilians, especially any who read Tsunade's book.
Aside: Mari & one of our estate ninja have/know of people who have wandering wits.

[X] Lore update
[X] Action Plan: Are Your Wits Wandering? Better Go Catch Them!
A suggestion for the Tsunade section - we asked Gaku to go recruit civilian administrators for Tsunade's organization. Pointing to their success (if they were successful) in the organization might help sell her.

(Plus 'direct GED graduates to Tsunade' was something I've wanted to do for a long time so I'm hoping it bears some fruit.)

I think that this is a pretty solid plan, even if it isn't for this cycle.

Sure, doesn't really matter who does it since every Summoner besides Hazou and soon to be Kagome can meet up at the Conclave, which is how they've been rendezvous-ing thus far

I think it'd be OK either way tbh

Which estate ninja is that?

I honestly don't remember this, could you link where this happened?

Same! I'm OK submitting it for Thursday's update or waiting til EJ's turn but I think it would be cool and it also shows Noburi that we listened to his (and by extension all Leaf medics') problem and tried to fix it. Plus it shows another avenue of how capable civilians can be after Goketsu civvies just proved their worth with the skyslider too

  • He doesn't know if Tsunade runs an aid organization but he will look into it. The clerks at the Tower, the Academy, and Leaf General Hospital are mostly civilian members of ninja families or survivors of clans that were wiped out. Some are completely civilian; getting a job serving in one of those places is a dream that people struggle for.
  • Yes, you can send GED graduates to her. He'll take care of it, although he doesn't know how much need there is. He's going to approach the hospital's lower-level administrators to start with, ask what they need, and try to find a good fit.
It's possible that EJ later posted something clarifying this but I can't find it off the top of my head.

So not a thing to include in the upcoming plan but I would really like it if we could start work on 7th path chakra farm. Consult all the bosses, Tsunade and maybe Oro if we ever get more bribes. It's probably one of the biggest power ups we could get for the team considering we have all the scrolls

There's a good chance it isn't possible. And if it is, letting Oro in on it isn't good.

Chakra farms are worth trying. Need to check if there is anything safe to drain. Nature chakra is potent. Increasing koi numbers is nice too. They take time to grow, making it less effective to start the timer when a need presents itself. Could brainstorm with Mari about breaking the deal. Sneak some eggs away. Steal care-taking practices if Mari has not stolen them already. Pay a Hyūga if we want to be careful.

Maybe koi can be moved to the 7th Path. Work with Tsunade to take dead eggs across and revive them. Would need to check they do not soak up nature chakra by living there. Having thousands of fish on both paths is worth working for.

Dealing with the Wakahisa honestly is not bad either. Allows for public use of koi for static defenses. In a way, proxy targets like roads and koi moats allow for better conflict deescalation if leaders can go to war hawks and present victories other than murdering towns of civilians.

I think this is underestimating the difficulty of caring for the koi, the Wakahisa have dedicated ninja whose entire job is taking care of the fish. Tsunade might be an amazing generalist, but that doesn't mean she can figure out something the Wakahisa clan has struggled with for hundreds of years. Namely having thousands of fish. That's probably out of the question. We might get a hundred or so.

Number of fish is from birth rate minus death. High birth strategies outpace death from imperfect care. Can try separating the eggs and replacing nutrition from cannibalism with unfertilized eggs. Fish brought to our estate seemed to do fine without many casualties or constant replacement, despite very different environment and likely little prior experience from piscinists raising koi outside Kiri. They are here taking care of the fish, observable. Do not think Tsunade will be necessary for normal care, only reviving dead eggs on another Path, which may not even be possible with modern science. How many years were spent on domestication? Bad care for too long would make an extinct pond, starting domestication from scratch.

Feels like ninja are dedicated to care to prevent coercion and dodge electric shocks. If the bottleneck is clan members, paying Toads to care for the ponds solves that. Most likely, Wakahisa have their own reasons for limiting koi population. Struggling for centuries to learn something does not mean it will be complicated to execute after it has been learned. Curing scurvy with citrus was rediscovered and forgotten many times between 1497 and 1932, despite being very simple. Ships swapped to types of citrus with less vitamin C. Used storage methods like metal pipes that leached vitamin C from juice. Voyages became faster, masking the ineffectiveness of new policies. When tested on animals, very few other species die without vitamin C. When bacteria were discovered it was reconsidered whether scurvy might be bacterial. Even simple things are hard to learn and prove definitively.

[X] Interluditte: A ninja village distrusts sealing, gets annihilated by better armed neighbors, nobody notices they had longer lifespans because constant warring.

I think this is an overly optimistic take. There are a hundred things that can go wrong and kill the entire pond. Too hot, too cold, too acidic, too basic, too salty, too dilute etc.

Your point about the entire pond dying at the beginning of domestication doesn't necessarily track. The koi might have started out much hardier pre-domesticated and the fragility observed today could be the result of breeding for higher chakra capacity. While the Wakahisa have had generations to figure out how to best care for the fish while they've been breeding them, we would have to figure it out from scratch.

We also have no idea how our fish are really doing. For all we know the piscinist is desperately fighting off parasites and boiling water every three hours to heat the pools. The care is a clan secret and he isn't sharing.

I'm not saying this is impossible by any means, but we're not likely to get a thousand fish without more staff, and a concerted effort to pump the Wakahisa for more information. As it stands I think the fish are too difficult to care for to get any large numbers without more information about caring for them.

We can remedy this in a few ways, but I don't think we're in a position to begin any large projects without more information.

So I'm guessing when hazou thinks back to the April fools chapter. What he remembers happening is the version where he did not try to murder shika right?

PSA: Tomorrow will be an interlude.

@Velorien has been kind enough to pick up the slack so that I can take care of other obligations this weekend.

EDIT: Aaaand, he already announced that. Bleh.
