"I appreciate the fashion in which you brought this to me, Hazō," she said eventually.
tfw you suggest something stupid to Keiko and she takes it seriously without exploding

It's slightly jarring to find that the expectation is that we eradicate Rock, both because of what it says about ninja warfare (or perhaps the grievous breach of protocol on the part of Rock) and because of what it says about what people think about us. Step one seems like 'repel invasion and assess'. Simultaneously mounting a defense and an offense while Leaf is weak on manpower seems...challenging.

Our current best superweapon ideas are largely storage scroll related, yes, as well as geoengineering?

Oh no

Wonder what crime he did

Ungrateful pangolins

Interesting. Perhaps condor pushback Or pangolin neighbors

Edit: feels like pangolins really tried to give us the short end of the deal with the sky tower trade if they expected our clan to grow slowly
I mean, they did trade their equivalent of FOOM for what they thought would be a multi-generational investment of summoners on the Human Path, only to find out that "Clans" nowadays can just adopt anyone willy nilly and we've certainly been taking advantage of that. I can see why they feel fucked over, but they're also kind of...assholes? What with the whole genocidal campaign and all, so I don't really care lol.

"There are options available to us. We can discuss the matter in more depth once you have a shortlist of localised apocalypses. For now, please trust that it is necessary. The Hokage will be aware of this as well, as indeed will the Tama."
There are two ways to read this. One, the Tama will be aware that at least one of them needs to survive, and would station a group somewhere secure out of harm's way, outside the village. Two, the Tama will be aware that we'd need to spare at least one of them, and would thus, if the situation grows desperate enough, use themselves as meatshields, and actively ensure that none of them are somewhere secure out of harm's way.

Are the Tama loyal to Rock first and foremost, or to whatever mission unifies the Five Clans? @Shrooms, might want to include this question.

I mean, if the Hokage is aware of the issue, I trust he wouldn't accept a proposal that would destabilize the world. I doubt he wants to wipe Rock out entirely anyways, it's not like Leaf has done it in the past even when they more than probably could. Also, do we even want to go kill them all? Or just get them out of Fire and take back the land they stole?

I can include it in my repost, but yea

The super weapon we've come up with so far is pairing the sound amplifying jutsu we saw at the chūnin exams with banshee fuckers. Depending on how the chakrAI decides to interact it could end the war practically instantly. (Does it multiply decibels or add a certain amount for each recipient? Both are still powerful weapons, but on slightly different scales. If it's the first then we have an impossibly strong sound bomb that wipes a battlefield. If it's the second then we have a way to deliver the close range, hard to use banshee fuckers to an arbitrary number of opponents. Seriously both are good)

Currently we're trying to brainstorm ways to ensure some Tama live.

As promised, my votes are to be held in reserve for any reasonable plan that involves punching (no cruelty to family, no treason, no Orochimaru). Chronic migraines suck, ping me to inform me.

Also: @Velorien. This chapter was a wonderful example of your character writing. The way you write Kei as "resigned and regretful of her relationship with the Pangolins, but ultimately guiltless and would repeat" is masterful. The way you weave Kei's respect for Hazou's destructive tendencies alongside her FF-Illuminati obligations is clever, as is how you can show Kei balancing her love for Hazou and her friendship with Naruto. Yes, I did ping you just to compliment your writing prowess. Yes, it is warranted. Yes, such compliments are well-earned. You're a good writer.

There's only so loud you can go. Loud enough, you'll create vacuum, IIRC.

I have it on good authority that EJ said he was excited for this upcoming meeting. Shocking, I know! Talking about a bunch of hypothetical punching has its own excitement to it :V
If EJ confirms this, I'll open my oath to include talking about fighting. Otherwise, it kind of goes against the spirit of my promise, even if it maintains the letter.

Also, do we even want to go kill them all?
Huh? Yes. Obviously we want to kill them all.

... Right? We're all on the same page here, right? We'd all been wistfully longing to slaughter as many non-allied ninja as possible, and to crush and smear the established nations across the landscape, gouging them out of the flesh of reality like the malignant tumors they are, only barely restrained by the ideological principles we must be publicly seen following and by the lack of opportunity, and now that we have the excuse and the fervent support of the entire village, we're going to finally let ourselves, allowing our true feelings to pour into the world in an unstoppable deluge of creative destruction.

... Right?

I mean, yes, obviously.

I am cautiously looking forward to it. There are some things being hashed out QM-side that will impact whether it's fun or FUN but worst case it shouldn't be bad. Thank you for being concerned.

Important question for a writeup i'm doing: Can we cast a MEW on top of another MEW? Assume that the MEWs in question are chakra constructs, not genuine stone.

Also if someone could point me to the spreadsheet that has info about various jutsu chakra costs, i'd appreciate it.

Extrajudicial murder, yay!

The Ami owes us a minor favor, super-yay!

The pangolins are angry about the assumptions they made without even asking and the humans not being genocidal warmongers all the time, boo!

Wait, these things can be used to cancel each other out.

Nah, Ami would never go out of way to help her sister.

So just ambush and kidnap some of the Tama that will inevitably be sent onto the frontlines.

It's even easier than that. The five thinker clans clearly understand that it's important that they stick around. The Rock kage made an enemy of his nation's by almost eradicating the Nara. Since they're also, y'know, good at thinking it's pretty safe to assume that they've set up designated survivor protocols and squirreled away enough members in fortified bunkers and wilderness to ensure survival. We probably couldn't find and kill them all if we tried.

Well, I probably could because indiscriminately carpet bombing everything is my default go-to when bullies start an unprovoked fight with me, but all we have to do is hold back a little bit.

Heck, even that might not be necessary. We know that the thinker clans communicate with each other (see shadow show and coins chapter) and that they want the opportunity to coordinate with each other given how much weight Shikaku put on adopting Kei. They share a common goal and they all know that they all know that and they practice plannng against worst case scenarios and the Tami are already really upset with Rock, so it shouldn't be terribly difficult for the Nara to use asynchronous coordination via Schelling points to arrange for a breeding population to get adopted into Leaf during the chaos and disruption of the war now that the Gouketsu have set the precedent.

Uh, didn't we make him high as fuck at work and threaten a bunch of people?

I love how this comes to mind as more important than the "invaded sovereign territory and burned half a continent instead of even attempting to negotiate travel" thing.

Give me specific requirements and I'll design you a half dozen superweapons the next time I get bored.

Old example: Imagine that you get dropped into a random location in New York City and need to meet somebody who the only information you have about is that they have the same orders, information, and goal.

Since that's not difficult enough add a time window. You have exactly one hour to be in the same place they are.

There is a better than even chance that in a bustling congested city you will end up meeting them at the information both in Grand Central Station at high noon.

That's just a population average. Two thinker clans who have probably long established at least a trickle of information around their nation's limits? Expect Shikamaru to say something along the lines of, "in grid square G90 there is a tree just far enough to the northwest of the beaten path to not be visible from it. It forks 15.3 inches up the trunk. If a Leaf representative wearing a teal armband issues a gull call directly towards it at precisely an hour after dawn eight Tami will present themselves. They will be wearing the basic minimum uniform necessary to avoid Rock suspicion, but it will include a yellow bow somewhere on the top third of their body. They will cooperate in returning to Konoha as long as the optimal path for avoiding revealing that the Tami are coordinating with us is followed, which I have detailed on this map with 99.98% percent of the potential contingencies. See appendix C for the statistical analysis."

I think you're looking for the Jutsu document. It and a bunch of other useful stuff is linked in post #2.

You mean the Cats? Y'all tried to negotiate but they kept attacking.

Okay, I voted for the plan that seemed best. I'll go ahead and precommit the next EJ-voting cycle towards punching as well, just to try and keep the story from becoming too bogged down with meetings and more mundane things (between the DRAGONWAR and the new Rocks Fall arc, that shouldn't be too difficult... I hope?)

I distinctly remember recommending that we immediately find the closest cats and offer them tribute in pursuit of a peaceful travel through their territory, and being ignored.

Boy, you've never worked analysis or the general staff, have you?

I distinctly remember recommending that we immediately find the closest cats and offer them tribute in pursuit of a peaceful travel through their territory, and being ignored.
The then-unknown danger of the Dragons was deemed too pressing to barter passage through every Feline Tribe's territory (they were said to be every-changing and oft-overlapping) and simply bulldozed through. When attacked, Hazou unsealed a shit ton of meat via earth clone, shouted "we come in peace, offering tribute" and was attacked anyway. We ignored initial diplomacy, but so did the Felines in question.

Instead it was "hug the coast to arbitrarily limit our mobility and try to sneak through a massive amount of apex predators with very good noses who know all of the terrain infinitely better than we do."

Then the ambush predators attacked the unannounced intruders deep in their territory in an ambush and somebody finally listened to me well enough to at least fall back to the backup plan.
