He waggled a finger at them, an amused smile on his face. "Growing these plants is impractical enough that no Hokage has needed to forbid its use until now, but as of tonight it's on the Forbidden Jutsu list to everyone here in Leaf. I like our economy the way it is, thank you."
ANBU1: So, how was your shift? Any updates?
ANBU2: Yeah... you know that gold-leaf jutsu?
ANBU1: The useless one? Yeah, why, did it get Goketsu-ed?
ANBU2: I think so. The Hokage went into a meeting with the Goketsu Clan Head and then, immediately after, reassigned it as a Forbidden Jutsu:
ANBU1: Sage's Balls, what's next?
ANBU2: I don't know, but are we sure that he should be allowed access to the Library?
ANBU1: Not my call, but if the Goketsu kid finds a way to make shrunken a restricted weapon, he and I are going to have words.
Asuma's eyebrows went up. "Interesting. And you're having civilians build this?"
ASUMA, INTERNALLY: Sage-dammit. I'm going to have to reconsider my biases on this, too, aren't I?
Asuma smiled in mild approval and nodded. "I have no objection. Family is important and she might make a good agent-in-place someday."
You know... I could see that happening. Asuma says a few things about the cruelty of the previous Hokage, Hazou reminds his mother about all the struggles they had growing up? Played right, Hana might just become an agent for the Leaf.
"I didn't grow up with the Kurosawa, but I met their elders a couple times," Hazō mused, poking distractedly at his fish as he spoke. "Arrogant old men who thought I would fall in line simply because they snapped their fingers. Thought that I didn't matter next to their needs, that I was some kind of shogi piece to be pushed around the board. That I would abandon everything I cared about for the privilege of a few scraps of their approval. Infuriating."
"Yeah..." Yasuji muttered.
Hazō shrugged. "Anyway, if you aren't interested in the money then let's forget about it. We could—"
Seeing Hazou become a master manipulator from Mari's tutelage is awesome and I love it!
The Gōketsu / Wakahisa dealThis is the preliminary deal worked out between Hazō and Yasuji. It still needs to be signed off by the Hokage and the Wakahisa Clan Head.
Mist:
- Not sure if Ami needs the intercession. I mean, Asuma's handling it, right? And while he might not be motivated to bring her back into the Leaf, he's also right about too many hands in this situation might just make it worse. And Ami's good at manipulating systems, rather than individuals --like Mari is --so adding to the chaos might not help her, but hurt her ability to navigate the situation.
- Good idea with the barrels. Between Noburi's barrel-seals, the barrel-seals we stole from that one girl, Yasuji's barrel-seals that we should totally steal, and the three different variations of barrel-seals that we get from this trade, we should be able to chart a progression of change, or a commonality between them. This would be useful for Hazou, Kagome, and whatever other sealmasters we bring in on this project.
- If Haru's stealth is high enough, he might be able to spy on the koi maintenance and report back.
- As for the trade... I mean, Leaf has honey, right? And Hazou knows of a place with unique, citrus-y foods that he can buy and then turn around and sell to Mist for a profit. The use of sealing scrolls and ninja missions would bring the costs down and the profits up.
- We can turn around and sell the ingredients to the Akimichi Clan. They have more spices and stuff to experiment with, using Mist spices in a Leaf way. And if they're open enough to ask for the food recipes, then we can do a separate negotiation there. But bringing in "foreign" spices is always a profitable thing, historically. And if we allow the Akimichi to experiment with them, without trying to force "foreign foods" onto Leaf culture, then they'll be more receptive.
- This brings profit to the Goketsu Coffers and helps keep the narrative consistent while also respecting the QM desire to refrain from number-crunching. I like it.
- The Earth jutsu we're giving are alright. Nothing too useful or dangerous. Kinda worried about the MEW, considering how much mileage we've come up with it.
- Not sure if we have approval to give away skywalker seals, but considering Asuma thought that most of the other Nations already had their own working copies, I suppose it's not a bad choice. We should probably keep an eye out for enemy versions, though. If they accomplished the same end-result through different means, then it might help us develop variations of the skywalker seals and maintain Leaf's military superiority.

Possible Jutsu:
- Cicadas Musings:
- This wind jutsu vibrates the air in the immediate area, causing a harmonic humming sound at medium volume within its range --an omni directional/present humming at casual speaking volume. Most commonly employed as an additional security measure when discussing things of sensitive nature behind closed doors. With the application of additional chakra, this technique can be expanded to larger areas, though the greater area one wishes to cover (beyond the base range), the cost of chakra increases exponentially. While this technique is recommended for indoor use, if needs must, it can be made to work outside --be warned, though, a breeze of moderate strength will disrupt this technique and cause a painful sensation-backlash to the caster.
- Cat's Sight:
- Due to the wild, forested nature of Leaf's ecology, nighttime can be particularly dark. So Cat's Vision was created to help ease that burden. This technique gathers what little sources of light are available at night in Leaf (reduced moonlight/starlight, reflections, luminescence, etc). Furthermore, due to the incidental interactions of chakra within the user's eyes, the natural human perception of movement is enhanced. This trait, combined with the increased eyesight, makes this technique extremely valuable for ninja on multi-day missions in the wild.
