This is something that's been in the works for a while now, and I recall previous talking points about it.

I am not proposing this as an attempt to replace or mitigate the need for narrative solutions, but to support and augment them in creating a firm foundation for meaningful change to Hazou's character over time. With or without this in place I will still support pursuing narrative actions to advance this goal and propose what I can think of.

The QMs have gone on record in a previous version of this conversation saying that they do not believe that characterization is decided by stats, but they appeared amenable to the idea that raising a stat represents dedicated effort in that direction, and that such a thing may support or augment the narrative-level actions that influence characterization, which is all that I am attempting to do.

As I remember things, there was widespread support for an Empathy Drip before the tournament, but we decided to hold off on it in order to optimize our tournament stats. I figured that since the tournament is now over and we can afford to divert XP like this, there would still be support for this.

To repeat: I do not mean this as a way to short-circuit Hazou's characterization, but as a way to support the narrative solutions we already intend to employ, and make the task ahead of us slightly less daunting.
Having (re)done the math as far as how quickly this (on average) impacts "Shadow Clones Get!"[a difference of a month or so) I'm willing to do a 10% drip on Empathy if this helps things along a bit.

As it happens, I worked out a cunning and elaborate scheme for this very purpose. Then Ami happened.
Called it!
Of course, the QMs themselves have been puppets of the Sage for a long time now, ever since they simulated him with a little too much fidelity and allowed him to escape the box/break the fourth wall.
(Substitute "the Sage" for "Mori Ami".)

It may not be too late yet, @Velorien! Please tell us everything you can about Ami's character and abilities, as well as about the true nature of the Mori Voice. We may still be able to defeat her.

Don't worry folks, @eaglejarl will save us from Ami with the Invasion Update as predicted months ago by @Radvic the very exciting closing ceremony.

I can't! It would be out of character!

Anywho, this seems like a good time to set this up:

[] Training Hazou: Empathy Drip. Divert 10% of the XP Hazou gains into a fund that automatically raises Empathy when enough has accumulated, until a vote to remove the Empathy Drip passes.

@eaglejarl @Velorien @OliWhail is this something you would find acceptable?

Everyone else, do you think 10% is a good number, if the QMs give the go-ahead?
I'd wait till we get back to Konoha and set up a vote around it once training starts, but personally I think it's a decent idea

:thonk: is there such a thing as recording seals? I think we could have told her we we're the cold stone killers. I wonder if the conversation would have changed if we admitted that. The others however, involved outlining our capabilities.

[Χ] Let eaglejarl write whatever the QMs collectively think Ami would want to write if she were a QM. We trust them.

We should absolutely give the letter directly to Keiko and not first run it by Jiraiya or anybody else. To do otherwise would be to once more effectively say that we don't think Keiko can make decisions for herself. We shouldn't tell her that she should let Jiraiya read it first. Keiko is her own person and we need to respect that, not try to micromanage the information she receives in order to 'protect' her.

Perhaps we should ask Jiraiya for a code that can be translated into two things.

That way Keiko can communicate with Ami without it being obvious to Ami's watchers.

[] Hazou can write whatever he wants as long as the hivemind shitposts. We trust him.
HAZOU: Dear diary, today I--

VOICES IN HAZOU'S HEAD: figured out Keiko and Tenten were dating

HAZOU: --figured out Keiko and Tenten were dating!

VOICES IN HAZOU'S HEAD: wow that was easy

Is it really that bad? Sure, she's a bit mad but now we know we shouldn't expect her to be on our side, clarification's good. I believe telling Keiko (and the rest of the clan to avoid further issues) the context and giving her the letter is the best thing to do.

How much more XP do we need to get Shadow Clones?

A lot.

Jiraiya will let us have Shadow Clone when we have 'high-jounin' Chakra Reserves. Our best guess is that that's 30-35, but we could be wrong.

We currently have CR 12, so to get to 30 would take 774 XP and to get to 35 would take 1104 XP. At 3.5 XP/day that'll take us 221-315 days (7-10 months of 100% effort on it)

High-jonin? I would say it's likely a lot more than 35 then, possibly the 50s at least just as a personal guess. 30 to 35 is a hood goal though, whether it is the minimum or not we can at least get a better idea on just what is considered high level reserves when he evaluates us.

His measure of high jounin is "Keiko can summon two of her high tier summons".
