So people are concerned about Hana having emotional power over Hazou. That's reasonable.

Does this power decrease if Hazou doesn't spend time with her?
Relatively?

If you don't model this numerically (which you shouldn't because seems hard man) it would be beneficial to not have any headpat accompanied honeyed words potentially seducing Hazou ever so slightly to her viewpoint.

If we're going to be honest here, here are my proposed edits to your plan:

[X] Action Plan: Kagome, Jiraiya, Ebisu, Hana
  • Apologize to Kagome.
    • We don't think Kagome is stupid.
    • Kagome is a valued member of the team/clan and it was stupid of us to not keep him in the loop on important matters.
    • Kagome is a cornerstone of the clan's safety, so it was dangerous of us to not inform him that we were bringing a potential threat into the house, and he was right to react to the sudden unnanounced what-looked-like-invasion of a potential threat the way he did.
    • We will include him in future such discussions.
  • Update Jiraiya on the situation re: Mari and Hana, if not done so already.
  • Continue Sealing research, aiming to get the upgrades Kei suggested.
    • Perhaps increase the range a bit, if we can?
  • Spend time training with Ebisu and Gai/Lee.
  • Spend time making Explosives Tags to sell for betting money.
  • Sleuth around the populace attempting to determine where all the good rumour mills are.
    • Bars, Taverns, Ramen Shops, Bathhouses, etc.
      • Intent: Assess possible infrastructure for future info-warfare
    • Discretely hand out some food to a few well placed vagrants.
      • Acquire potential assets for future info-warfare.
    • Try to suss out more information on Anko's polyamorous ways.
      • Something is a bit off here.
    • Do so in disguise.

As I carry Vechts vote with my own, and they have expressed dismay (independent of my own) at More Time Spent with Mom, I note that I cannot give you votes unless you change this portion at the very least.

Edit: The intent of most of this should be obvious (gives us better control of information flow in the future, or at least ideas on where to start concretely on that front) while simultaneously dealing with the Anko thread and keeping Bizarre Social Interactions with the family to a minimum.

I'm memeing a bit on the Explosive Cookie Creation part. Like, I can change this to something more useful, but the Core Joke of it as is is that we're using EXPLOSIVES to BAKE COOKIES.

If thats not the most Kagome thing I ever heard...

Why not do it with Kagome?

E: also don't let me influence your vote, that defeats the purpose

You can suggest this as a plan yourself, but frankly, I do want to know what Mist warhawks are saying so we can wreck their narrative, and I don't want to continue the Anko thread.

Would you be opposed to doing everything except the one bullet that pursues the Anko thread then?

Part of our problem with this situation is that we have literally zero infrastructure set up for information manipulation/propaganda. My point: This is something we need to fix, so that the next time Something Goes Wrong, we can send a message to Pat the Bartender, Johnny the Chunin Gate Guard and Mirei the Bathhouse Owner to start covering our ass for us.

I'm fine with adding rumor stuff, but I'm keeping the talk with Hana. That gives important information too.

  • Ask Hana about how Mist has been responding to our exam performance.
    • What does she suggest we do in the tournament to undermine our enemies' narratives?

Here's the barebone plan.

[X] Action Plan: Mitigating Problems Caused by Adult Drama

Kagome:
  • Apologize to Kagome.
    • For not involving Kagome in the decision making process.
    • For Hana being overly harsh. Hazō did not know that she would do this.
  • Promise Kagome that Hazō will...
    • Involve Kagome in the decision making process.
Mari:
  • Make sure she do something with the kids; keep her busy.
  • Help Mari coordinates Kagome's birthday party; send invitation to Akane?
Research:
  • Work on chakra intensity detection for seal according to Keiko
Misc:
  • Make explosive seals to sell to the tower, then to weapon shops/lazy sealmasters/ninja/etc; capital for tournament betting in Mist
  • Make sure that pangolin tower seals are squared away.

Added more mari stuff. Clarify explosive stuff.

If you add Training with Gai/Lee and that bit about increasing the range on the vibrator seals (even a few feet would be a massive boost, in ninja combat time), I think I can deal with more Hana stuff as long as it give us actionable intel and isn't just cute fuzzy hugbox time with the elite killer and diplomat that happens to be our progenitor.

I was going to comment on how this was one of those wonderful lines that nobody could have imagined at the start of the quest, but then I thought about the PCs' relationship with Mari. And subsequently Kagome. And now increasingly Jiraiya. You know what, there is something wrong with this quest.

Hazō asked for help. He did not know that Hana was just going to barge into the compound and act like a drill instructor.

Also, don't forget Keiko and Noburi, who also didn't think to get Kagome involved.

Something wrong with this quest?

In the beginning, we were trying to build a village. If things go right, we will know someone to be the diplomat, etc.

...yes? We were still going to bring her inside, even if we didn't know she would do it in a way that looked like a home-invasion, we also should have predicted that Kagome would see someone who hurt his teammate as a threat.

In my experience, going through on "Reasons why it was 2 epsilons less of a transgression in reality compared to your stated perspective" is only ever going to get your ass burned in an apology.

Learning how to lose, etc etc.

Why can't I like this multiple times?

It's tempting, it really is, to pursue absolute clarity about our mistakes and ensure everyone's on the exact same page. This quest created Clear Communication no Jutsu for that very purpose, even! But pursuing clarity isn't always the best option if it comes at the cost of making the following apology sound insincere, since the ultimate goal is to mend bridges and while clarity optimizes that process, the appearance of insincerity prevents it.

I still think that this is the ideal time to hammer Kagome about his biggest flaw which is still ticking away waiting to blow up all the players' work. He's finally on the other side of it and might actually comprehend it.

Also, this is a reminder that Hana still needs to be introduced to Pandaa.

I think it might be better to wait until tensions have settled down post tournament. We can have a nice sitdown and point out how what we did was similar to his past actions and agree that no one wants to be on either side of one of these issues.

Otherwise: If Kagome is radically insistent that Hazou is a meanie jerkface that doesn't give a shit about him, we can just start going down the list and point out that modulo intentions he has done exactly this at least two times, and that both of those almost resulted in worse consequences.

Shounen...ness isn't necessarily unrealistic even IRL if you work toward it tbh.

It'll get you askance looks at your idealism, but I already get those for being a shut-in, and Hazou undoubtedly gets them for... a number of things. :p

So, it seems our good opposites have finally revealed themselves. On reflection, I can't think of a better candidate than you (though I'm not sure whose opposite you are), but who are the other two?
Your foul tactics are laid bare, anti-colonial!

After a brief period of arguing over mirroring pairs, we have decided who is who.

And no, we aren't telling. Nyeh!
