That, um,... that is the difference between a jounin and a chuunin. At level 40 in a skill as he is, adding 3.5 Aspect Bonus (to say nothing of our other various aspects we've got from our various shenanigans), that bumps him up to 57.5 at base level.
You misunderstand what Im saying i think?

Look at Hazous rolls against Touma. Imagine we have an additional bonus from DTL and Rolodex of Doom. Perhaps the fudge dice came up Yahtzee as well.

Such a scenario could potentially have Hazou hitting over 80!

yessssss

YESSSSSS

YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSS

So, a little backstory:

I was totally hyped to write the Battle of the DemiDemigods, and then all the player discussion happened, and then I started thinking about it in more depth, and then a sinking sensation landed in my heart as I was once again forced to choose between simulationism and sheer awesomeness.

Y'all were right when you pointed out that the "lure everyone into attacking" strategy was more complex than it needed to be. Shoot, I was the one who came up with it and I started to realize that it didn't make a lot of sense.

Then there was the level of preparation you had done. The bad guys were all injured, able to communicate only with great effort, there was a football-field-length killzone around the bunker you were going to be defending, everything was quite clearly trapped to hell and back...and people were still going to charge into that blender? Why, exactly? These are teenagers, sure, but they're also trained soldiers. They're the best that their villages can send, and they're not stupid.

Also, there was the fact that Shikamaru said all that in front of your temporary teammates. Now, I did think of it at the time and made him bargain with them so that it was in their interest to play along, but was it really going to be the case that no one would leak?

...hmmm, I thought. Suppose he wanted the word to leak? Suppose that was the whole plan -- he was ensuring that you didn't get ganged up on while he took the pangolins and went on the same rampage that you went on?

This struck me as both simulationist and hilarious. Furthermore, it would be a great way to show that no, really, Shikamaru is that smart and that all was according to keikaku.

I ran it by the other QMs and they were okay with it. Granted, @Velorien probably didn't object largely because he was tired, but that just meant that @OliWhail felt the need to step in and be a wet blanket forethoughtful person:

OW: Hang on, shouldn't Hazō have gotten a Deception roll?
[much discussion]

EJ: Bah. Fine, I'll own up.

I've posted the update and the outro first and am typing this up now so that I'll have at least a few minutes of seeming like I was insightful enough to write Shikamaru being brilliant. Now, however, it is time to fess up.

What does the "Stay in Mist" option mean, exactly? Does it mean that we stay in Mist for the whole month? Or does is it mean that we stay there for a week and then leave?
The default option is to leave immediately. "Stay in Mist" is about whether or not you go with that or try to stay for a little while. The main plan would then need to explain what you do with your time there. You cannot stay more than a week.

[x] (mist) Stay

The Clan Dinners of Smugness must happen and Ami must be courted.

Thank Jashin it was a 'everything went better than expected' rather than 'you accidentally killed someone now Hiashi has the hat'.

Well, now that that's done with, we should visit Hana. With the event over and our position secure we really need outside opinions on Akane so that Hazou doesn't do something incredibly stupid.

It is now about 6pm and the round has just ended. You are standing at the gate with Jiraiya (who is looking insufferably smug), the other Kage, and the various proctors. ISC turned in hours ago and are presumably back at the barracks. You are not confined to barracks and are free to move around the city normally.

Also, regardless of what gets voted in, I hope the next (chronological) update picks up here because I really want to see Jiraiya mess with the other Kages about how he just won those bets.

As compensation, you should give us the bonus XP for lethality :p

So team Kurenai took another -495 (unless they were paired with one of ISC previous team, in which case -330)

If ISC didn't hurt their previous round teammates or our previous round teammates, I think there are lots of R2 Blues that might have edged them out.

Heck, our R2 teammates just made up 380) points.

@eaglejarl please correct my assumptions/reading as appropriate - trying to do the math in case you want/need spoons saved. If it's easier to say ISC had these goals in mind, I will optimize to those goals.

My read is that everyone on Red other than ISC is in a cell (33 people), with Moderate Consequence penalty.
  • Maybe omit ISC's R1 team?
  • Maybe omit ISC's R2 team?
My read is that all Blue team members other than our team are injury penalized and their docs were either destroyed or that ISC turned their Docs in, say, under an hour.
  • Maybe omit our R1 team? But Docs still destroyed.

Okay Hivemind: Im partial towards going to Leaf but I know a dozen or so of y'all probably want to stick around Mist for the week.

Im with @MadScientist on the Alertness training grind (as you all should be) and I truly believe we wont get any real sealing done until gojng back to Leaf (J has said this basically). We would also get access to Kagome and Mari, who could probably help with training.

Im biased towards Leaf then, more or less.
