Do we have any time efficient way of drawing in chakra beasts?
Kidnap some civilians, then throw them in the general area of the chakra beasts. Works 100% of the time.

Hold up if this is the spirit of the plan would this instead work:This is not a precomit on our part, by the way. We can do whatever we want defense wise (i find this particular class of defense optimal modulo some details that avoid the Fort Problem) but Shika is preplanning for this class of defense and will steer people to tactics such as we have suggested.
- Steer ISC to using these tactics:
- Two-pronged assault on <required> safe aboveground path & underground assault.
- We want to limit their attack vectors while having plans to counter this.
Not the most time-efficient way: we should throw ourselves at them instead!Kidnap some civilians, then throw in the general area of the chakra beasts. Works 100% of the time.
Perhaps something closer to:To enemies:
- Guesstimate combat styles (physique, weapons...).
- Ask ISC their knowledge.
- VD check elemental affinities.
Maybe at least scout out what chakra beasts live there? Perhaps we could make use of some of them (or their parts), one way or another. Not the most time-efficient way: we should throw ourselves at them instead!
Noburi will also suggest running everyone through an Earbuster, so you can assume that everyone who wasn't on your team or ISC's team will have the Mild Consequence "Partial Hearing Loss". (Turns out most people still have a reasonable degree of hearing after getting a ruptured eardrum.)We're already hobbling them, so they have physical disadvantages
I'll check.Would it be okay to spend 1 FP to declare that Kagome has given us an equally large pile of LBFs for traps?
It's up to@Velorien how much time he wants to cover in this update.I dunno, are the QMs willing to put up with another week and a half before the event's over? @eaglejarl @Velorien @OliWhail
I'm gonna change it if that's fine; I don't wanna make people precommit to using strategies that we don't want to counter-precommit to.@faflec I dont really see Jellos concerns as super concerning: this is not binding on our end. Just serves to narrow the space of possible enemy actions.(Which is MORE beneficial to us even if we did hard precommit by the way, since we just set up above paths to be turned into killzones at the drop of a hat.)
Your next edit is fine.
something something get the Hokage involved something something WW4Ain't no rule that we can't bring extra people into the event area.
Just saying.
This seems reasonable. But I'd point out that Shikamaru would be able to predict that we got affinity information from VD, which is an OPSEC breach. Will not add that part.Perhaps something closer to:
- Analyse combat capabilities:
- VD check elemental affinities.
- Consider equipment, physique.
- Shikamaru & Keiko: build full profiles using all available information.
This is still super-time consuming, given that we didn't appear to have encountered any chakra beasts in the area (and it's supposed to be an old training ground, so there probably aren't any around anyway. I don't think it's a good use of our time.Perhaps at least scout out what chakra beasts live there? Perhaps we could make use of some of them (or their parts), one way or another.

[X] Action Plan: Retroactive Partying
Retroactively:
- Run plan through Keiko/Noburi.
- Maintain OPSEC (handsigns/Air Dome).
- Don't jeopardize Round 2.
- Stick together.
Afterparty:
- To enemies:
- Analyse combat capabilities, build profiles:
- VD-check affinities.
- Study equipment/physique.
- Get ISC's knowledge.
- Put stolen word-halves in Seventh Path.
- Mess with them (if socially acceptable):
- Perfumerate them + equipment.
- Blunt + paint (visible at night) equipment.
- Pangolins:
- Maybe unsummoning some (Pandojuru, Pangaya), reducing chakra drain.
- Summon Paneru: Casing/defense consultation.
- Possibly requisition materials for R2. Pay with 5SB/gold.
- Deliver prisoners to ISC.
- "Honor the ransom terms".
- Confirm details to keep story straight.
- Help make anti-Gōketsu alliance:
- Should we act super-confident or 'try' to undermine alliance?
- Threaten to burn word halves (?).
- Steer ISC to using these tactics:
- Two-pronged assault on <required> safe aboveground path & underground assault.
- We want to limit their attack vectors while having plans to counter this.
- R2 prep:
- Brainstorm plausible attacks/defenses.
- Case locations with Pangolins for: tunneling defenses, Pangolin counterattack/ambush vectors, effective defensive artillery fire....
- Make thin MEW sheets for 5SB.
- Enough to defend outer walls/key rooms from inside.
- Tie together (wire) & put in storage seals.
- Make seals as time permits.
- Test implosion seal anti-underground effectiveness/nonlethality (use clones).
- Re-drain some prisoners to refresh unconsciousness (Wakahisa, social specs, intelligence bloodlines, Team Kurenai...).
- Collaborate with ISC.
- Socialize!
- Jiraiya calls the shots.
- Teammates:
- Want to stay in touch.
- Worked really well as a team.
- (Subtly) Mention value of working relationship with Hokage's children.
- Comment on growing legend, subtly discuss how to leverage (build/maintain reputation).
- Ask if he wants us to remove Team Kurenai from tournament (goad Kiba?).
- If Hana comes, maybe tell a story (OPSEC-sanitized).
As per EJs comment: Earbuster everyone?I'm gonna change it if that's fine; I don't wanna make people precommit to using strategies that we don't want to counter-precommit to.

Is it a safe assumption that Partial Hearing Loss would provide a penalty to initiative given that it would directly impact awareness?Noburi will also suggest running everyone through an Earbuster, so you can assume that everyone who wasn't on your team or ISC's team will have the Mild Consequence "Partial Hearing Loss". FTFYI like it. GMs have ruled that it's a Mild consequence and acceptable in the rules of the Exam, and we need every advantage we can get.
Noburi will also suggest running everyone through an Earbuster, so you can assume that everyone who wasn't on your team or ISC's team will have the Mild Consequence "Partial Hearing Loss". (Turns out most people still have a reasonable degree of hearing after getting a ruptured eardrum.)
I'm inclined to disagree with that. Shikamaru has an opportunity to shape STR's strategy into one specifically vulnerable to our strategy. It's a massive advantage; we shouldn't squander it just because we think we may come up with a better one.I'm gonna change it if that's fine; I don't wanna make people precommit to using strategies that we don't want to counter-precommit to.
Fair enough. This is still super-time consuming, given that we didn't appear to have encountered any chakra beasts in the area (and it's supposed to be an old training ground, so there probably aren't any around anyway. I don't think it's a good use of our time.
Awesome! Maiming unconscious prisoners, woo! Too bad we weren't able to have Gomi experiment on them.Noburi will also suggest running everyone through an Earbuster, so you can assume that everyone who wasn't on your team or ISC's team will have the Mild Consequence "Partial Hearing Loss". That did come out a little blunter than I'd intended. If we're gonna resolve Hazou's problem with treating people as tools, we have to start somewhere.
Right, but me writing "steer ISC to using these tactics" should have the same effect, right?I'm inclined to disagree with that. Shikamaru has an opportunity to shape STR's strategy into one specifically vulnerable to our strategy. Maybe agree on some signals we could send during the break day, which would mean that strategy has changed (and detailing natures of these changes?).

...Is this true with respect to substitution?Just remember. An unconscious target is always considered willing.

e: I realize you were making a joke, but am curious about that.
ISC or STR? But yes, seems fine.Right, but me writing "steer ISC to using these tactics" should have the same effect, right?
No, no. I meant dead drops with letters, or code phrases we couldI'm iffy on predetermined signals, we aren't likely to meet with them during the break and throwing up explosives during the 2hr time is...risky. I'll think on this.
ISC, since they are leading STR and we're trying to convince them to steer them to using the tactics. Talking to STR makes it sound like we're telling Shin to do these things
If we were good at keeping this sort of thing on the down low we would never have gotten caught in the tunnel during the Fourth Event. Possible, but....No, no. I meant dead drops with letters, or code phrases we coulddrop during a casual conversationshout out as we taunt SuperTeam Red into attacking us, etc. Clothing of particular color we could wear, meals we will chose to eat. Subtle social ones, not explosions (this time).
But the...QMs...suggested it?I'm against this. We are at or over the limit of socially acceptable harm. Also I don't want to hurt these teenagers more than we already have.
I am willing to replace slit heels with ruptured eardrums, but never both to the same person.
I still prefer slit heels. If we blow the eardrums of 50 teenagers, how many will suffer permanent hearing loss? Right now we have the respect of every Kage. I think this jeopardizes that.
I dunno. I'm keeping it for now, but am willing to be convinced. For the record, I still think we're fine in terms of socially acceptable harm.Noburi will also suggest running everyone through an Earbuster, so you can assume that everyone who wasn't on your team or ISC's team will have the Mild Consequence "Partial Hearing Loss". (Turns out most people still have a reasonable degree of hearing after getting a ruptured eardrum.)
