Absent the use of colors and oversized fonts, I'm not sure how to make it any more explicit or less subtle than to literally say "Henge is gone" and "no one remembers it". Especially given that I said it twice and spent multiple paragraphs referencing it being gone, the implications, and thoroughly establishing that retcons were an in-universe thing that people typically don't remember.

What more do you think would be needed?
I strongly prefer to handle things like this in-character, and I find that readers tend to be smarter and more attentive than I expected.

Well, Hazou remembering would still be a hilarious way to do it, providing narrative opportunities. I mean, becoming a seal master has risks of serious consequences, after all. That those around you believe that you're slowly descending into madness (or maybe are just stressed about the whole breakup thing) because you start mentioning things that don't exist, like a certain crazy uncle we have, could be one of them. And let's face it, seal masters being more prone to remembering shifts and noticing the effects of sealing failures while others aren't would explain a lot. I mean, have we actually met any experienced seal masters that aren't eccentric or insane in some fashion? Kagome is a mess of issues, Jiraiya copes with the insanity through his being a massive pervert (and is probably one of the more well rounded examples), Orochimaru's sociopathy is clearly because nothing really matters if a Grue will just shift it away, and then there's that totally insane bioseal mistress we kidnapped. Not sure about those folks in Hidden Mountain, what with them having an original tradition, but maybe they just don't notice the shifts so much because of their isolationism keeping them from having the knowledge to notice most of them, or maybe we just really didn't find out their particular brand of madness, and I don't remember if we actually met any of their seal masters anyways.

Hey now. Not everyone's into pseudo-incest, some men are gay, and we shouldn't neglect our nonbinary folks or centenarians.

Indeed. Centenarians and 'their activities' are hit the most by the removal of Henge and we ought to honor their sacrifice.

[Jk] Interlude: kagome is horrified when he wakes up and seals have been retconed out of existence(mostly becoming a new kind of jutsu) , hazou has always been a technique hacker and skywalkers are now pretty pink pony no justsu.

I can't, because it was written in Chapter 128 (the bookmarked one) and was written over. Unless one of the threadgoers quoted the whole chapter?

I'm not searching for that, too much work :p

Found it. (SV doesn't nest quotes and I don't want to manually insert it so you'll have to just follow the link)

That was a lot of salt to sift through though. Makes me feel a bit better about the more recent salt mines, they weren't anywhere near as bad.

So another insight from the journal entry is that Kagome's reluctance to innovate is at least partially an act he's putting on for Hazou.

We all suspected it, but now it's confirmed. Kagome screams about safety precautions and the dangers of innovation because he feels a responsibility to set an example for a reckless sealing student. He figures that by preaching extreme over-caution in conjunction with a teenager's assumed recklessness, he'll get a reasonable amount of caution. When thinking about his own sealing ideas, he's totally blasé about considering the craziest of ideas.

Ehh, not necessarily. He could just be of a mind that *He* is perfectly aware of what a reasonable amount of caution is in the given instance since he has something like 30 years of sealing experience. He might not be convinced that we would always do the same. As mentioned in the (Retconned Swamp Update), Hazou hasnt really focused too much on anything but seal creation.

If Hazou hasn't also been retcon-proofed by his exposure to Oli's true form, then we need to first find out that Kagome is retcon-proof and then learn what he remembers the world being. Because it must be really isolating to have a totally accurate perception of reality that makes you look insane to everyone around you. We need to give him friends that understand and believe him in what he's experienced damnit.
