Making a new character in such a way would result in us not 'having' all this metainformation on Skywalkers, Skytowers, etc., and we can't take advantage of our (the hivemind's) knowledge because the QMs will veto it as metagaming.
Unless we chose either the

"Hazou is somehow reincarnated" Bloodline or the "Hivemind" Bloodline.

Prediction:

  • Next post eaglejarl triumphantly unveils how the PC is completely, logically, screwed.
  • A half dozen posters come up with logical flaws at to why this makes no sense.
  • Cue another retcon.

I hope not. Retcons usually involve a lot of salt, and a lot of extra effort for the QMs.

The best scenario that I can reconcile with this update:
  • Some combination of plans and tactics which we have not used, but are very likely to, cannot be used.
  • Round 2 gets much, much harder.
Worst case scenario:
  • We have already doomed Hinata and the rest of Blue Team 1 to permanent injuries and/or death.
More plausible worst case scenario:
  • Horrible OPSEC failure.
    • Goo bombs were some terrible secret.
    • Some unforgivable part of our past gets revealed.

If that were the case, I think the QMs would have double checked with @faflec just to be sure.

Unless they did and @faflec is now just phoning in the screams to fool us.

The only thing that I can think of that qualifies for all of these criteria is that Jiraiya realized our clan name will be corrupted into Gooketsu after using that many goo bombs in the event. Which technically is a thing that happened in the past.

I will, however, say that I have only screamed once since the update.

We are fine then.

So in summary, how much do you trust the QMs? Given that I auto-skip to the responses before I read the updates because of how stressful this whole mess is, you can probably guess my answer.

Jiraiya explicitly said that he was okay with risking OPSEC on the seals he gave us, which means he did think about goo bomb OPSEC. Whatever he's in a mad dash for can't be goo bombs.

which means it's probably worse

aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

My thoughts in descending order of probability on why Jiraiya is running:
  • Concern about nature chakra and other Wakahisa attempting to drain the summons
  • Concern Noburi will drain the summons to save chakra
  • Something the hivemind either doesn't have access to or forgot / ignored
  • Concern we will literally murder people in the event
  • Concern our actions will pin us irrevocably to the Hot Springs incident
  • Concern about our teammate betrayal
  • Concern Akatsuki will steal his remaining charges

Hmmm, as the rest of y'all have already identified this has to be some kind of interaction between Wakahisa chakra draining and the pangolins (or perhaps more broadly summoning). This interaction would have to be sufficiently rare that neither Jiraiya nor the pangolins thought to warn Keiko/the team about it. (For Jiraiya out of forgetfulness most likely and for the pangolins I would assume out of ignorance b/c they still haven't brought it up). I would also have to assume that this is an interaction that the player-base could have successfully predicted, because I highly doubt that the QM's would want the river of salt that would be coming their way if they just whipped something out of nowhere (which also goes against the simulationist aspect of the quest).

What this could be? I don't know. A couple of questions that if anyone could answer I would appreciate:

1. Did we get QM confirmation that Noburi knows how to cure water poisoning?
2. Has there ever been a QM ruling about how processing too much chakra in a day is bad?
3. Are there any instances of that happening in canon Naruto? The closest I can think of are the Eight Gates, but those operate under a different mechanism than chakra water.
4. Are summons internal chakra systems based on nature chakra or processed chakra? I'm pretty sure that its processed chakra like humans, IIRC nature chakra comes from rocks and trees etc.
5. If summons DO use nature chakra, is that true in the Human Path or only the Summon's Path?
6. How fast does the petrification via nature chakra happen?
7. How permanent is it? IIRC the grand-toad-parents were able to whack Naruto in the head to stop it in canon, but they were close by. Can they only do this on the Summon's Path for some reason?

Maybe Shino dies because we drained nearly all of his chakra and his bugs eat the rest because they're starving as well.
I think Shikamaru would have warned us about that though.
Except if he thought Keiko would realize that on her own.
