We're not completely enclosing them right? They do need air.

Alternately, just tie them up real good.
The worry isnt them breaking out, its someone else breaking them out and throwing them out into the middle of the room to negate our points minmaxing bullshit.

Allright, if we have enough prisoners for this to be a concern then we have enough chakra to be MEWing people in.

I think taking word halves are sufficient
You're overlooking the fact that this is a significant time sink as well. Top teams will have all their word-halves hidden in a book hidden in a chest hidden in a storage scroll, and they won't help us find them. We can't guarantee that we will take all, or even most, of word-halves.

...

...

...

Is there any reason we can't pile them all up on a pangolin-sized bus and just... kind of... kidnap them?
This is a serious question.
I thought Noburi could only hold so much. Therefore, once everyone is topped off, all the other chakra is sprayed out like confetti on New Years Eve.
Yes. But it's not particularly relevant given that the constraining factor is chakra-required-per-hour. The Pangolins drain a certain amount, so it's not like we'll be for want of chakra capacity, just chakra. :p

One thing you might want to clarify, since apparently nobody actually wants to vote for my plan: How many tags are we handing out to our six squadmates? I think eaglejarl will take "unspecified but signicant amount", but I'm not sure.
ehhhh...I don't think @eaglejarl will screw us over like this? And I don't see Keiko/Noburi ICly letting us give up too much explosives.

I specifically stated that there should be room for air.

They're going to be on their person since proctors are meant to check them, and there's nothing stopping us from straight up taking the storage scroll wholesale.

At the risk of running foul of rules I don't know, we could strip every opponent down to underwear, seal all their equipment and sort it all out later.

On the downside, the Goketsu name will never escape its lecherous, perverted roots.

Full stop, CCNJ:

1) The Pain Train cannot continue the full length of the event, period. At most its a few hours. Chakra drain is too large. We have 22 hours.
2) If someone merely removes prisoners from the cells at the last second, we lose a pile of points.
3) Im not in arguing of stopping the pain train. Period.

Clearly we need to spend time to stop (2). We cannot bet the entire Exam on word-halves doing jack shit. Pain train will not last all event, so we can take care of it afterwards.

What part of this is conflicting with your mental model of how this event should go down?

My problem is that I don't see this going as swimmingly as you seem to think it might. We're going to have people escape us, or who we just don't find.

And frankly I'm far more worried about this escort nonsense. Just take the documents and turn them in on the other Red Teams' behest if its that big of a deal. (but only if we've disabled that team)

We're not completely enclosing them right? They do need air.

The worry is someone else releasing them. Which, quite frankly, is only a worry if one of their teammates escapes. There's no incentive for other teams to really help the other teams, outside of maybe finding their village mates.

OR they'll just have them on their person, because storage scrolls are expensive and not everyone can afford them.

Eaglejarl explicitly mentioned the question in feedback on @huhYeahGoodPoint 's plan.

This is a serious question.
I don't think it'll work? We'd have to summon Panjandrum just to lug them, not to mention make a ridiculously oversized wheelbarrow to carry all of them.

Can we...do that?

Edit: Fixed.
[X] Action Plan: Be Zabuza

OK!

NB: The main difference here is that Keiko is summoning more and more Pangolins. I still feel that we should continue ramping up our Pangolin count, since Pangolins are faster than ninja and should be capable of chasing fleeing ninjas.

Alright there's more changes than that now.

Word Count: 599

[X] Action Plan: Zabuza the Pangolin

  • If proctors won't be on-site all the time, how are they going to enforce the rules about severe injuries and about simulating T&I facilities?
  • If a Red Team turns in documents from another facility, who receives the points? Nobody, this Red Team, or the Red Team assigned to that facility? Does the corresponding Blue Team loses points?
  • Are Blue Teams allowed to leave their T&I facilities? If yes, how far could they go?
  • Can Blue Teams send chakra constructs (clones, summons) to scout the territory around their facilities?
  • If a contestant withdraws to a medic, do they lose any points for that? Could they still gain positive points? Could they still lose points?
  • Can one of us climb a tree right now, to try and find our facility?
  • If someone suffers a lasting injury this round, will they receive a penalty for this injury at the end of the next round as well?
  • For Blue Teams, does putting Red Team members into unconsciousness count as restraining them?
  • Brief teammates on plan with handsigns.
Prep: Consider talking in Air Dome for OPSEC/protection.
  • Word-halves:
    • Teammates deserve a share, but possessing people's word-halves will be dangerous after this round.
    • State that we intend to publicize we've taken their word-halves.
    • Trade (real) explosives for letting us take word-halves.
  • Friendly participants: We want to let some people keep word-halves (ISC); do others have similar wishes?
    • Max: 1 friendly per teammate.
    • Confront Doigama if he doesn't mention his Wolf compatriot.
  • Distribute seals: Give enough for use before each battle.
    • Explosives: Encourage liberal use.
      • Training tags for people.
      • Weapon:2 for demolitions.
    • Oxygen Mask: Protect from Doigama's poison.
    • Earmuff seals: Banshees.
  • Chakra:
    • May need teammates' chakra for Summoning.
      • Point out seals as proof of good intentions.
    • Check allies' reserves:
      • Pretense: Familiarizing to ease future transfers.
      • Note Kato's reserves. If lied, confront + consider drain-KO & medic delivery if team agrees.
  • Debrief allies on dossiers & general facility layout.
    • Be vague about Leaf teams.
  • Carrot and Stick:
    • If teammates seem to be uncooperative or suspicious note that we are flexible with taking everyone's interests into account.
    • Subtly drop hints regarding value of having good working relationships the Hokage's children.
    • Keiko reminds them that betrayal is unwise, slyly asks Pankurashun what Pangolins do to traitors (Intimidate).
  • Suggested Summons:
    • Pankurashun.
    • Pandajouru/Pangaya (once we can leave).
    • Panashe (might delay until after defeating designated Blue Team).
    • Other Combat Pangolins (summon as chakra costs allow).
  • Roles:
    • Scouting/Interference: Panashe, Doigama, Kato.
    • Support/Ranged: Keiko, Noburi, Gomi.
    • Assault: Everyone else.
Strategy:
  • General:
    • Scout ahead. Prioritize quickly obtaining broad view of situation and avoiding capture.
    • Overscrew enemies:
      • KO them. Avoid giving Severe Consequences.
      • Put Red Teams in (a) cell. DON'T make them Blue 'prisoners' which gives Blue Team points.
        • Escort a (restrained, chakra-drained) Red to submit their documents before bringing back to a cell.
        • Make sure they don't have explosives/seals to escape from cells.
        • Seal them in with MEW. Leave room for air.
      • Steal word-halves. Stick ours in Seventh Path.
    • Keiko: Intimidate captured top teams, stop them from attacking us R2.
      • NB: Figure out balance between too many people and not enough people attacking us R2.
  • Breach our designated Blue facility first. Clear site.
  • Afterwards:
    • Take enemies' chakra, redistribute amongst ourselves.
    • Give Moderate Consequences as necessary.
    • Dab some perfume on enemies (imperceptible to them, easy for Pangolins to track now and in Round 2).
    • Recover key/documents.
    • Scout other sites.
    • Everyone goes to deliver documents to proctor station.
  • Repeat for other sites.
    • Prioritize softer targets & Red Teams (harder to pin down).
Combat: Shock & Awe.
  • Use overwhelming force.
  • Keiko: Open with thrown Goo Bombs/Banshees.
    • Ideally use in open spaces.
    • If in buildings: May throw into enemy-filled rooms.
  • Assault: Engage stunned/immobilized enemies. Pangolins lead.
    • Hazou: Use Pangolin pepper Macerators, but avoid friendly fire.
  • Interference/Support: Throw explosives/Firelog Macerators to distract/intimidate (and also give Gomi light for Genjutsu).
  • Support/Interference: Watch for retreats/reinforcements.
  • For buildings: Breach everywhere simultaneously, clear by room.
    • Focus enemies, check traps afterwards.
  • Chase fleeing enemies. Don't chase individuals if hard to track.
    • Be careful they don't lead us into traps/ambush.
Contingencies:
  • Enemy teams blatantly violate rules? Fetch proctors.
  • Doigama/Kato: Maintain OPSEC regarding missing-nin activities/Leaf politics.
  • Non-top team candidates surrender? Accept. Drain them to KO instead of punching, everything else the same.
  • If turning in our documents removes us from this round:
    • Keep documents with us (e.g., Seventh Path) and continue rampage; turn in documents after rampage is ended.
    • Only escort non-top team Reds to turn in documents.
  • If we can turn in other groups' documents: Don't destroy them, turn them in.

I shall be perfectly honest and say that if we go missing-nin again, carrying the best and brightest of this groups Genin on our backs...*pfffffft*

Our characters don't need handholding as far as how to apply their ninja magic in a combat situation.

Unless someone here is a military tactician experienced in ninja combat, I don't think we can offer any meaningful advice beyond the tactics given.

I disagree; I don't think there's more useful detail aside from "apply force quickly and effectively". Our PCs have agency; they have the combat experience, this is exactly what we gave them agency for.
I mean, sure, we can say that... but we can make aspect bonuses like [Breach and Clear] -- which EJ has already confirmed we can get -- by putting a line in like "breach from all three non-entry sides of the facility after done scouting and taking out outlying nin."

Even though I wasn't selected, I'm still going to run MadEye.exe and see what gets spit out.

Questions for proctor:
  • If proctors won't be on-site all the time, how are they going to enforce the rules about severe injuries and about simulating T&I facilities?
  • If a Red Team turns in documents from another facility, who receives the points? Nobody, this Red Team, or the Red Team assigned to that facility? Does the corresponding Blue Team loses points?

  • For Blue Teams, does putting Red Team members into unconsciousness count as restraining them?

This is an inordinate amount of questions to ask the proctor, and you can be certain they will not answer all of them. Most likely, they will get annoyed after the first two. Prune all but the following (and change the prioritization in which they are asked), as the others either have a low probability of being answered, we can already guess the answers, or will have minimal impact on our plans this round:
  • Does the round end for us when we turn in our documents? (*)
  • If proctors won't be on-site all the time, how are they going to enforce the rules about severe injuries and about simulating T&I facilities?
  • If a contestant withdraws to a medic, can they gain positive points for the round? Could they still lose points?
  • If a Red Team turns in documents from another facility, who receives the points? Nobody, this Red Team, or the Red Team assigned to that facility? Does the corresponding Blue Team loses points?
  • If someone suffers a lasting injury this round, will they receive a penalty for this injury at the end of the next round as well?
For the rest, assume the worst and plan around it.

Prep: Consider talking in Air Dome for OPSEC/protection.

Don't consider this. Do it.

  • Word-halves:
    • Teammates deserve a share, but possessing people's word-halves will be dangerous after this round.
    • State that we intend to publicize possession of the word-halves we've taken.
    • Trade (real) explosives for letting us take word-halves.

Why? Assume the question will come up. That's important information, and as you state, it's risky to hold on to them. In fact, holding on to a bunch of word halves makes all of us a target. I would not expect our squad to go along with this without due justification.

At bare minimum, let them know that we intend to securely store these in the Seventh Path.

  • Friendly participants: We want to let some people keep their word-halves (ISC); do others have similar wishes?
    • Max: 1 friendly per teammate.
    • Confront Doigama if he doesn't mention his Wolf compatriot

State who and why to avoid any confusions. Add guidelines for criteria on refusal, if someone requests we do more than just let them keep word halves.

  • Distribute seals:
    • Explosives: Encourage liberal use.
      • Training tags for people.
      • Weapon:2 for demolitions.
    • Oxygen Mask: Protect from Doigama's poison.
    • Earmuff seals: Banshees.

Remind people that some of these are lethal. Encourage them to keep the less-than-lethal options separate from the lethal ones. This does in fact not go without saying.

  • Chakra:
    • May need teammates' chakra for Summoning.
      • Point out seals as proof of good intentions.

Simply do not do this. Let them know why we need the chakra, and then ask for it. If anyone refuses, do not press the issue. We cannot afford inter-team conflicts.

  • Debrief allies on dossiers & general facility layout.
    • Be vague about Leaf teams.

Do not do this. State upfront that we are unwilling to provide details about Leaf teams. Do not compromise, and simply move on from the subject if pressed.

Strategy:
  • General:
    • Scout ahead. Prioritize quickly obtaining broad view of situation and avoiding capture.
    • Overscrew enemies:
      • KO them, giving Moderate Consequences as necessary.
      • Put Red Teams in cells. DON'T make them Blue 'prisoners' (either don't restrain them, or prevent their ability to talk).
        • Escort a (restrained, chakra-drained) Red Team member to submit their documents before bringing them to a cell.
  • X We do not have any contingencies for keeping them there once put into cells. It is highly unlikely this will gain us anything or lose our opponents points; even if they're chakra drained and unconscious, I would expect most ninja to wake up, and be able to escape by the end of the day if not supervised.
  • X Additionally, the very fact that they are in a cell will almost certainly count as "being restrained". We are not going to be able to prevent the blue teams from gaining points by clever loopholes here. Instead, we should do one of the following:
    • In fact restrain them using ninja wire on their hands and feet.
      • (Optional) Additionally, line the outside of the cells with nonlethal traps that will deter or incapacitate them again if they attempt to escape (goo bombs, alarm seals, training tags).
    • Drag their unconscious bodies to the med tent so they cannot gain positive points.
  • X This is unnecessary effort which puts us at risk (travelling to a predictable location completing an objective that no less than nine of our enemies would prefer us not complete), and does not change the score totals overmuch. In short, this level of optimization is not worth the effort and risk on our part.

  • Keiko: Intimidate captured top teams, stop them from attacking us R2.
    • NB: Figure out balance between too many people and not enough people attacking us R2.

This is unacceptable and tantamount to asking QMs to do the work for us. In fact, the balance should be to kick as much ass as is ninjaly possibly so they don't even think to fuck with us R2.

  • Breach our designated Blue facility first. Clear site.

How? Be explicit. Who is grouped where? How do we approach?

Combat: Shock & Awe.
  • Interference/Support: Throw explosives/Firelog Macerators to distract/intimidate (and also give Gomi light for Genjutsu).

State again that these should be aimed high, or at the building itself, to avoid incompetent teammates killing someone.

  • Support/Interference: Watch for retreats/reinforcements.

And do what?

  • For buildings: Breach everywhere simultaneously, clear by room.
    • Focus enemies, check traps afterwards.
  • Chase fleeing enemies. Don't chase individuals if hard to track.
    • Be careful they don't lead us into traps/ambush.

Suggest that we have Panashe on hand for this eventuality. It will happen. Having her ready will help mitigate that.

Contingencies:
  • Non-top team candidates surrender? Accept. Drain them to KO instead of punching them. Do everything else the same.

Explicitly state that we will not inflict consequences if they surrender. This provides incentive.

  • If turning in our documents removes us from this round:
    • Keep documents with us (e.g., Seventh Path) and continue rampage; turn in documents after rampage is ended.
    • When escorting other Reds to turn in documents, make sure they're not a top team.

We didn't ask this question. Add it. (See above).

@Vecht The questions are there purely because EJ wanted ammo to write a scene.

We have confirmation we will not be getting useful answers for any of this.
