Fair enough. I would interpret that, however, as less martyrdom for Kei and more "a solution to Orochimaru wanting to dissect both of us which also fits with my long-standing if largely OOC interest in being examined by Orochimaru in the name of more power".

I'd suggested that before. It indeed has some advantages: we'd be hiding under the shadow of something potentially scarier than the Akatsuki, going somewhere they may not dare pursue us. No, that's a weird idea. I'm saying chakra has traditionally had difficulty manipulating anything precisely at the subatomic level so a bunch of electrons moving around seems unlikely to be perfectly preserved or replicated by this rune, and having your brain electricity randomized seems like a bad thing.
I'm tentatively interested in exploring something like this possibility as well. IIRC, even Ami said that Kisame is apparently chill for an essie. Unlike Itachi, Hidan, Deidara, and Sasori, we don't know of any atrocities he'd committed or any monstrous character traits he has. He is apparently genuinely attached to the Shark Clan on an emotional level (based on Oro's comments and Kisame's own behavior in the lead-up to the Dragonwar), i. e., not a psychopath. He's also one of the competent half of the Akatsuki. Out of all of them, he might be the one actually capable of seeing reason, and not deserving to be taken off the board.
