Recruiting from the Rolodex is 35/70/140. Vanessa rolls 18+14+1=33. As such, dropping the DC to 30/60/120 is strictly better. This means there's a 1% critfail chance, 73% chance of sucess, and 13% chance of a crit. Adding 10 to the roll, on the other hand, also has a 1% critfail chance and 73% chance of success, but only a 3% chance of a crit.
Since Kitsune is already done :
1000 XP to lower the DC of : Campaign against the SRA (Goofy)
1000 XP to lower the DC of : Rebrand Insuricare's anti-Super Policies (Mirage)
Heads up in case I miss voting; seeing as I got 1000 EXP now, I'd like as much of it as I'm allowed to spend in a turn put on the Look for Star and Marco option if we hire the Commodore to do it. The guys a legend, I'm going to have faith in his ability to find the two. Especially if I reduce the mystery (but probably very high ) DC via Exp.
There is too much to do and too much of it feels important to do now. It feels like there's so much data that making an intelligent, informed choice is near impossible. Not to mention we are currently being actively blocked from the next tier of actions by some really nastily high numbers.
I have to agree. I feel this quest is reaching the point large CK2 quests tend to reach when the amount of options and decisions to take is constantly increasing and it becomes harder and harder for both players and QM to keep track of it.

Probably about time to go _up_ an abstraction level on some things, or to somehow find a way to make the "Council" thing work and hope that actually does something helpful.
I'll chuck my XP in on buying out Lee Industries to reduce the DC. I don't actually know how much I have, though - Let's just presume 500 for now? If I have more XP it can all go to that. I just don't actually know how much I have.
Also, since the plan won, and I'm not sure if we are starting with the results or the quest....
Fragile
Tap Tap. Tap Tap.
Had Technor been in supervillain mode, daring to tap his glass would have resulted in annihilation. As he was on the clock. He instead gave a projected smile. "Does my form interest you?"
"It's like, glass right, like a TV screen? So like, does it shatter easily? You did cape fights, right?" Defaulting to asking about a way he could be hurt... interesting. In some other world, without a support system, he wondered if Janna could have been a budding supervillain.
"My monitor is a high-grade plastic alloy that mimics glass." He stated. "One of my many superior functions."
"Huh.... cool." She took out a small rubber ball and bounced it off his monitor. Then, with something that, to a lesser psychologist not equipped with his advanced vocal monitoring, might successfully sound like cheerful disregard she said." So this is what a room where you de-crazy people looks like. I was kinda expecting a couch."
"Therapy is not merely for those with psychiatric disorders." While he would have loved to lecture her on why crazy was a terrible word that produced a terrible mindset, it was best to start small for now. "You are aware Doctor Doofenschmirtz has seen me himself?"
A momentary pause as Janna nearly missed the catch of the ball. "Huh, really? Good for him, but like, Doof isn't the sanest guy... Like, sorry doc, but I'm your average teen, no deep-seated trauma's about being raised by ocelot's here." Given Doofinmertz's distress when they'd talked (and thank his circuits he had been able to tell him to not give more than the barebones details, the man's commendable openness about his own trauma should not extend to others), Technor highly doubted everything was okay.
"This is simply a voluntary appointment. While I would encourage you to stay, this is not mandatory."
Janna snorted. "Please, I can tell when an adult does the 'you don't have to but actually, you have to'. He handed me your card and said he thought I should talk to you." A slight increase in the ball speed.
"Do you feel this is an implicit part of your job then? Your evil benefits package has very specific hiring/firing criteria unless a medical necessity form is filled out, and I suspect our new administrator would not react well to it."
"He's the boss, what he says goes. Besides, it's like school, they don't have to expel you to put you in detention, like, mandatory leave."
"Would paid vacation be so bad?"
"I don't need a vacation, I'm fine." Just a little too fast. The ball clutched.
"I see. What would you say you need, then."
"I need you to give me the thumbs up, not crazy. I know the Xanadu trip is coming up, and they need me." She shrugged, settling in the chair in a pose of exaggerated relatedness. "I mean unless you want to try giving the staff to the ninja." The bouncing ball had returned.
"Do you wish to keep Feldrake then?"
"Worried I'm about to go mad duck-witch? I'm not like that. Like, world-conquering isn't what I want. If... if it would stop Toffee I could give him up." Hesitation yet... and Technor cursed that his power-limitations made his sensors not as perfect as they could be, he still found it most likely that there was an aspect of truth.
"You don't feel they would help?"
Janna snorted, back to calm. "Please, the magic one isn't much better than me. Plus, they are too... like trusting. Most people would just accept what he offers." A tightness to her voice.
"Is there someone else people just accepted?"
"Uh, Toffee?" She said, like it was obvious.
"Aside from a briefing given on Toffee as an evil-dimensional lizard not to be trusted, I have no information on the subject."
"He didn't tell you about it?"
"Dr. Doofinmertz told me he was worried, but respects your privacy enough otherwise." Partially because Technor coached him, but that detail could stay confidential.
"Oh, well-" Janna talked, and Technor listened and recorded. There was no flashback this time, just words and a story on the average becoming something else.
"I see, you can see the connection in accepting Feldrake as others did with Toffee."
"Yeah."
"Do you feel Dr. Doofinmertz would do so?" Technor pressed.
"I..." the bouncing stopped as Janna considered. "I mean, maybe? Like, he was pretty easy to prank, but he trusted me on Toffee. Even started searching right away with that detective service. Not sure how much he paid, but I know that his AI was going berserk. Thought I would see her sparks start flying at the price tag for hiring what she referred to as, 'one mere sellsword constable'. Look, you don't need to worry about me, he gave me trust, I can give him some, but taking away Feldrake is a bad idea, he'd love to get his hooks into them."
Reciprocity then. The fear of loss of power as well, but also... "A noble sentiment."
"Huh?" Janna asked, confused enough to stop midway through preparing her next bounce.
"Taking the burden of the staff so that others won't fall to it."
"Oh, that." Janna snorted. "Please, it's just being sensible. If he gets his hooks into anyone it's going to be everyone's problem and I'm part of everyone. It's why I have to help out. If Toffee wins, everywhere becomes like home."
"So you wish to be involved in your own safety then."
"I mean, if you don't, then no one will." She stopped, perhaps realizing what she said. "Like, don't get me wrong, I heard what the ghost-lady said. I've got friends, I mean I made one with the bug-girl, and Max and Vanessa. I'm doing fine." There went the ball again.
"So you don't show hostility towards co-workers?"
"Nah, I'm cool." There went the ball again.
"Like, say, bouncing a ball off of one of them?"
She missed the catch. "Oh, that, I mean, that was just a little prank, you know?"
"I suppose, is it normal for you to do that?" Technor asked, keeping his voice calm.
"I... I mean it's a little unsophisticated, It just seemed funny, you know."
"A ball was amusing."
"I-" she grimaced, uncomfortable, uncertain. "Look, no pranks. I get it. I can be serious, professional. Just... let me help. Let me go to Xanadu and I will prove it, nothing but the most professional intern you ever saw. I promise." No jokes, not laid back.
"Would it surprise you to know that I don't disprove of it?"
"What? But..." she trailed off.
"Adult authority figures, especially ones that are called in because someone is acting out, do not usually support violations of rules." Technor supplied. As a mental health professional, he really shouldn't enjoy this. But as a supervillain, watching someone's surprise when you sprung something unexpected was always worth it.
"I mean... yeah. So the ball is okay?"
"I would prefer you didn't and had you done it in a non-professional setting I would have been obligated to hunt you down and declare vengeance. But, as a therapist, I am less distressed. I'd like to offer you some thoughts, though, at the end of the day, I must remind you that you know yourself best."
"Yeah, sure."
"Are you familiar with boundaries? I believe Toffee has violated them, and you are now seeking to re-establish them."
Janna held up her hands. "I think you got the wrong idea doc. Like, dating was not involved in any of this."
"Sexual boundaries are not the only form that can be violated, perhaps not even the most common. Sadly, children's and teenagers' boundaries are regularly violated by an adult when they make decisions for them, treating them as younger than they are, though most are resigned to that. Toffee, however, ripped away your sense of safety. The bargain offered, that you must go to school, live with your parents, and such, and in exchange, you will be safe, was broken, as aspects of your life were invaded by a threat from outside."
"I mean, yeah. I tested Max to make sure he was safe before coming here. So we cool then?" A very goal-focused approach. Likely avoiding digging too deep into the uncomfortable parts and instead focusing on what she wanted. Something for later, for now-
"Not an inaccurate summary. However, such behaviors, though understandable, will make it harder to work with people. Provoking people until they are aggressive does not make for good team practice."
"As I said, I can lay off, sorry about the bouncing."
"It is understandable, after all, this must-have felt like something of a betrayal." She looked at him. "I'm talking about Dr. Doofenshmirtz. You opened yourself up, made yourself vulnerable by giving the unmitigated truth. Feeling as if you were forced into therapy made it feel as if doing so had made him not trust you."
"You are freakishly good at this."
"I am the finest therapist ever built." Probably the finest that ever existed, but no need to brag on the clock. "I would emphasize that this was purely an option. If you wish, I can send my recommendations to Dr. Doofinmertz, or alternatively, I can send nothing. You are in control of this."
A long period of hesitation. "What would you send?"
"I would send a report that notes that, while this experience has been traumatic, you are old enough that removing you from active duty would grant you neither a sense of safety nor would you be able to relax. Though I have long term concerns, in the immediate sense removing you would be a bad idea. I could end there, or I could also add that you have agreed to three suggestions I have to alleviate long-term concerns."
"All right. I can deal, what do you want?"
"First, I want you to have fun some-time in the next six months."
"I have fun."
"Fun from something you yourself pursued, not, fun as an incidental aspect while doing other things or being approached by friends. It doesn't have to be major, for example, if you are taken to New York for the Auction, seeing a broadway play or a club or even a restaurant could qualify. But it must be something you initiated, not that you were taken to."
"I think I can manage fun on doctor's orders," Janna said, though from the purposefully laid back pose Technor suspected it may prove harder than she thought.
"Second I'd like you to check-in at least quarterly. These would not be full evaluations, simply opportunities to let out your thoughts. If you have nothing to say, then you can leave. But I do ask you to make an honest attempt."
"Ehhh, sure."
"Finally, I ask that you keep in mind your co-workers. While pranks can establish your boundaries they can violate other people's. I would ask that you keep them in check, especially with Max."
"Max, seriously? Trust me doc, he's cool, we get along great."
"Max is a toon, and fairly used to being the butt of comedy, but I do not feel he enjoys it, merely accepts it."
"Okay, a bit of a buzzkill there. But fine, fine, I'll say sorry and play nice when I get back from Xanadu."
"You may not have to wait that long, Max is currently being considered for the trip."
Even more than anything else, this let Janna's face in utter confusion. "Why?"
"Because he wanted at least one person from the previous trip, and felt Max was the most reliable of the options."
"Fair enough"
Warning: Potentially unpleasant stuff incoming feel free to skip.
After my father was arrested, my family got monthly social-worker visits for about a year. The most memorable aspect of those was that I, for some reason, decided it would be really, really funny to drop pillows on her head from the stair above the couch where she was talking with my mom.
It's bizarre looking back on it. Because I was 15, far too old for something like that. And frankly, it was utterly out of character I didn't do pranks. My mom was pissed, but it was actually the social worker who said it wasn't a bad thing. That what I was doing was boundary-establishing, which was good after what had happened. Clearly establishing that strange people did not have permission to be in the house, but doing so with a thing that wasn't able to be physically threatening.
It all makes sense, it's about the only thing that does. Even so, it feels very weird, because of the way it was all subconscious for me. That internally, it was just suddenly the funniest thing ever. I wanted to convey a bit of that weirdness in the writing

While I'm sure I'm not the only one who's wished you didn't have those experiences, and I'm probably not the only one who can say that it's given you a certain degree of perspective on a number of things that makes you an excellent writer...it's still worth saying. Great writing, and thank you for sharing it with us. (Also I can only react ONCE to a given post, dammit, and this one goes through pretty much all the reacts to the point I wasn't sure which one to pick.)
