I'd like to actually complete the investigation first since no plan is immune to the whims of chance, and again, why Shego this turn? If Toffee talks to her to formally open a relationship, so what? She's not above betrayal, so it's not like this would impede her; a nice front could even be useful, really. I don't think Toffee is good enough to turn her against us in a single turn.

Whether she is above betrayal or not, I think there's a distinction to be drawn between what she's like as a person and her obligations as CEO of Drakktech. If a company has formally established relations with another, and are beginning to work together, it is pretty bad PR - and often hurtful to internal morale - to simply toss a collaborator aside. If Toffee reaches out, and we don't, then he has secured an advantage against us, since he will have made inroads with Drakktech - and we will have not. It's not usually good practice to be one step behind an enemy when it comes to securing allies.

What are the actual benefits of contacting Shego a turn early? It's fine to talk principles or whatever, but we have to assess what's actually better here. Getting our Occult rolling a turn early is way more important than contacting Shego a turn early, simply because the more actions we complete in a category the more powerful the available options become. Occult has what we need to counter Toffee, and Shego does not. If it's just a question of pooling resources I don't see why we can't get it a turn later with basically the same effectiveness, while a turn of extra Occult actions can be difference of getting crucial research/protections in time and not doing so.

You said it yourself, didn't you? Look above - I've bolded the relevant lines in your response for emphasis, and will repeat them here: "The more actions we complete in a category the more powerful the available options become." If we reach out to Shego and establish a formal relationship with Drakktech, we then have much more powerful options to employ next turn, and reduce the chance that she will simply go with Toffee on a deal. As she said, Drakktech is a company - they don't much care who they're doing business with unless its Syndrome (read: unless she has some compelling reason telling her not to).

That we employ Shego's brother is not a compelling reason - she has a grasp of our whole deal from when she looked into us, and knows we're not the sort to go after families.

Anyway, if it's just a question of completing Occult actions, and trying to unlock the Coven option, I don't see why we can't do that next turn, when we'll have our items from Xanadu in hand (with auction materials on the way). Given how much of a boost Felldrake gave to Janna, I don't think this is an insignificant consideration.

Just wanted to point out that Shego may perfectly have Occult heroes working for her. Like, I seriously doubt she's none since that would make her very easy to attack by people that have Occult stats, that, or the heroes she's working for her is enough to defend her against that kind of attacks. In any case, implying that a fellow King has no way of helping us with Occult matters (like Toffee) seems pretty disingenuous, more so if we're comparing what a King can do for us to a single Hero Unit.

A very simple example would be she sending some of her heroes along with ours to some of the Quests we'll unlock after Xanadu, saving us heroes for national actions or more Quests and helping us get more occult artifacts in less turns, far more than a single hero could.

[X] Plan: Anti-Toffee Questosaurus

There is too much to do and too much of it feels important to do now. It feels like there's so much data that making an intelligent, informed choice is near impossible. Not to mention we are currently being actively blocked from the next tier of actions by some really nastily high numbers.

The fact that there are so many time sensitive things going on in both the background and the foreground absolutely does not help things in the slightest. It's making it so that we have to choose between getting useful stuff, avoid getting stabbed in the foot, stopping mega-threats, or making progress. It also makes it impossible to focus down our ever-expanding field of problems because too many of the clocks are not lined up for us to take a shot at accurately.

Is. Is this the normal state of how these quests run?
Only a little. Things are heating up right now, but the levity from comedic interludes helps release the pressure.

I'll try to make my case for reaching out to Shego over recruiting Kitsune here. Kitsune, for all the prophecy and cool Occult stuff is only a single hero. Shego is a fellow King with the resources to match. Look at the "Luck Be a Lady Quest." A large reason why it went so well is because of the heros she managed to toss at it.

Like compare Gwen Grayson with Kitsune in terms of utility. If you think the two are at all comparable (I'd say yes) remember Shego has Gwen and many many others as resources. Obviously we won't get immediate access to Shego's resources from an alliance, but you have to take the first step at some point.

And in general eeaching out has been great. The Magus Bazaar and thus auction directly came about from reaching out to Xanatos!

Any specific reason you're not swapping them around? Compared to Dennis, Hego has a higher success and crit chance, as well as a considerably lower crit fail chance. Plus, Dennis getting an Instructor seems more useful than Hego working at Bueno Nacho.
Narrative sense. Khan is more likely to trust Dennis with the production of his new steed than Hego

Pretty much what I was going on about

Shego is a fellow King with the resources to match
I mean I don't completely disagree with this, but there's also no guarantee that she is going to devote all of said resources to this. She has her own stuff going on in the background too, so it really depends on what she wants to do.

Also, personally, I want to get Kitsune because it means we don't absolutely need to keep throwing Goofy at diplomacy stuff, and we can let him do his personals and etc.

I'll be fine with recruiting Kitsuné - if we reach out to Shego next turn. Maybe the Zaibatsu or Olympia as well. We really need to start networking more with our fellow Kings.

Okay, I admit my argument about Shego and Toffee was flawed. My point for the drug ring still stands.
What about the drug ring? I don't actually think she'd care we'd investigate it in the same way she didn't care we bought Buenos Nachos, especially now that the drug ring has reached our part of Colorado.
Okay, dude? Chill. You're being just as rude as he is with talk like that. Let's all just calm down and talk about this rationally
I have always tried to give replies with actual argumentative substance, but I won't bother if he doesn't extend the same courtesy to me.
I don't agree with this at all. Just having Shego, another King, publicly denouncing Doom for his racism against Toons while at the same time supporting Supers (aka, the same thing he did to us) would help us a lot against Doom. Another idea would be to just collaborate with her in further SRA actions which would make it impossible for Doom to spill bullshit on us for that since it'd mean attacking Shego at the same time.

Another thing she can probably do for us it to lend us muscle for our Quests, kind of like the Dickeens.

However, more important than this, I think, it's to have allies who we can trust for when shit hits the fan (which would be sometime this year...), instead of just trying to ally with her just the turn before bad things happens.

An example of something similar, in a sense, was us trying to bring her to the auction, it was something we wanted but we just couldn't do because we just hadn't gotten in contact with her. Now imagine us trying to get help from her when the bad thing happens but just being unable to because we've refused to contact her again and again.
Hmm, I don't think Shego would come out in support of Toons for free, but it would be a start. I don't think there's much of risk of allying with her just before the crisis, really; it would be not even a turn of grace form the augury.
I don´t have a meticulously-crafted 100 step, no...but "team up with Shego against Toffee and consolidate our forces" is at least a *Framework* of a plan that we can build up upon.
Let me try to put this in step by step.

You want to ally with Shego, so we can pool resources and know-how against Toffee. Logically, the earlier we cooperate the earlier we start reaping the benefits. I agree with this, believe it or not.

However, it is also true that our Occult actions are in quite a sorry state, a terrible place to be since it's the main weapon of our newest enemy. Just like cooperating with Shego, the earlier we get our Occult actions in a good state the earlier we will benefit; and these benefits are very relevant when it comes to combating Toffee.

Since our Occult actions are in a far more precarious state than our relationship with Shego, I want to prioritize fixing it first. Our relationship with Shego already is quite good and we have already cooperated on Quests before; this opening of contacts is in many ways a formality. The same cannot be said of our Occult actions, which right now currently consist of throwing things at the wall and seeing what sticks. It's something that has far bigger urgency in my mind, and therefore needs priority.

Essentially, we don't need time to have a good relationship with Shego, we are already there in many ways. But we do need more time to get our Occult to get up to snuff, so when it comes to which gets the priority of more time, then Occult is the one I choose.

Given how much of a boost Felldrake gave to Janna, I don't think this is an insignificant consideration.
See above for a partial response. Again, it would be nice to have Shego, but I don't think having it a turn early is better than having than getting our Occult fixed a turn early. I don't think she has a big chance to accept a deal from Toffee at face value anyway.
It's not usually good practice to be one step behind an enemy when it comes to securing allies.
Inter-company relationships are hardly the be all and end all, especially if we show up to Shego with evidence on hand. This seems like Shego's problem and not our's anyway. It hurts her to break the deal, but I'm pretty sure cooperating with a interdimensional invader will hurt her a lot more in the long run.
Just wanted to point out that Shego may perfectly have Occult heroes working for her. Like, I seriously doubt she's none since that would make her very easy to attack by people that have Occult stats, that, or the heroes she's working for her is enough to defend her against that kind of attacks. Our two Occult heroes were the result of crits, and we'd be pretty screwed if we suffered a serious Occult attack even now, so no, I think Shego not having anything for Occult is pretty believable. Do you think Syndrome had Occult heroes too?

Even if she has a few somehow, they're still her employees and not ours, so I imagine we won't get them for free, and putting them in charge of sensitive stuff in our company would be an iffy proposition. It's way better to have this stuff in house.
I'll try to make my case for reaching out to Shego over recruiting Kitsune here. Kitsune, for all the prophecy and cool Occult stuff is only a single hero. First, lol, the opportunity cost on Kitsune is way higher than Gwen's, are you kidding? If we were drowning in Occult heroes maybe we could compare them "objectively", but right now I'd seriously trade 10 Gwens for 1 Kitsune. Occult is just too important to us right now.

Second, I agree that Shego will have tons of cool stuff! But I also believe very little of it will be free. Even when it came to the Auction we had to spend an action to prepare funds for it, and the quest didn't even start yet! Considering how important our own Hero units are and how we are always Hungering for more, i hardly think the price on stuff like that will be cheap. Would we ask for little should we be in her position, knowing how much sending a Hero unit away costs us?

Well, I knew what I was walking into when I named my plan and since both plans in the running mean dealing with choices I dislike, I may as well go with the one that more or less fits my preferences.

It´s simply statistically unlikely.

As for her help not coming free - sure, otherwise she´d be a sorry excuse for a King.

But even a help we have to pay for dearly can be incredibly useful if used reasonable (Two Words: *Dickens Agency*)

Hopefully we'll get Janus Lee while buying Lee industries to help us with the diplomacy, he'll probably be less unnerving than a fox spirit.

Alright, there's still an hour left this can still work. This is pretty much exactly Anti-Toffee Questosaurus except L.O.V.E.M.U.F.F.I.N. is reaching out to Shego with an 80% chance of success instead of buying out Lee Industries and Russ is on the Middleton Drug Ring rather than Investigating L.A. crime.

Lovemuffin will probably remind her of Drakken but even worse.

Middleton is a lot less valuable than LA crime.

Bruh, we're a King, and if Shego asked us for help with Occult right now we'd have the choice of sending the one decent unit we have and be shit out of luck when it comes to our own Occult actions or basically send a second-stringer that barely helps. Given she was in a pretty similar place to us but presumably had no reason to investigate magical rumors due to a lack of meta-knowledge it's even possible she's in a worse position than us. I wouldn't count on Shego to bail us from our actual deficiencies, and even if we could it's simply not sustainable to do so. If we want Occult help it's best to do it ourselves.

I like it, but without being able to approval vote I fear that shifting to it would split the vote and allow the Honorable plan to win. So, I can't in good conscious swap my vote without seeing a very violent swing very soon.

L.O.V.E.M.U.F.F.I.N. is definitely not ideal, but it's the only way of getting Shego and Kitsune and Anti-SRA support in the same plan.

Investigating L.A. crime could yield something great, but stands a much higher chance of blowing up in our faces. Investigating the Middleton Drug ring is much more likely to succeed.

Helping us upgrade our martial action? The 170 dc one.

Can they help with those if we ask?

Maybe... but that depends on just how Collaborating with other Kings works. From the looks of it, we need to pass a Diplo action to have a King help us with an action.

I mean... possibly. But, we don't really know how those work. It's entirely possible that Shego herself will help us, basically knocking sixty DC off of it... or it's entirely possible that she could put a +30-40 Martial hero on it instead, still making it a very difficult action.
*groans*

So you want to rally the troops only when the enemy is already at your gates?

Killer plan, truly...

It´s about maximizing benefits from us preparing together, pal.

As for Shego probably not having an Occult stat (totally disregarding that *neither do we*):

True, but do you really expect someone like Shego who regularly hires capes as goons to not have at least some of them which would help against Toffee?

That´s really unlikely.

... "at our gates"? We put off setting up official channels with Shego/"Reaching Out" because we only had one Diplo action and, originally, the DC for the action was really high. Now that we have two Diplo actions we have no reason not to do it next turn. Besides, like I said, we won't be facing an enemy next turn, so we can wait another turn.

Yeah, we don't have an Occult stat... but that's won't be a problem in the long run as we're going to, hopefully, unlock it this turn. Shego, if she learns about the Occult, will also need to spend multiple actions to even gain an Occult stat... and she doesn't have an actual spellbook to help her along.

This has been confirmed by the GM as not being the same thing. What we do is currently do are the usual monthly updates about her brother, giving us something of a personal relationship with Shego. What this action does is open up formal relations between DEI and Drakktech, which allows us to work on research jointly or collaborate on an issue. In terms of research, we do have combat relevant tech from the Gala that would be good to acquire, and in terms of collaboration, well, I imagine Shego has more experience with organizing PMCs and the like (since she's lacking massive Normbot swarms), so we can probably get some input on how to how to make ours more efficient (thus helping lower the DC on the action which gates our second Martial action).

As for a collaboration vs Toffee, that would be something we pursue next turn, after we have opened formal relations. At that point, we'd have completed the Investigate Toffee action, and would have that info available.

Again, I don't know how collaborating works with other factions, so I don't know how much that would help our PMC action.

But, while we will have the info... why would we instantly start attacking Toffee? Unless we have a ridiculous amount of info that Toffee is killing U.S. civilians then the US will want to keep Toffee where he is until they can topple him themselves. Two "Kings" attacking him? That would break the Masquerade quite heavily. And, as Shego doesn't want to look like a villain/murderer, she'll undoubtedly want to try and keep an Intruge heavy focus if she does any anti-Toffee actions... in which case, reaching out to her with our pro

...ever heard about "starting to gather allies EARLY"?

The earlier we got Shego on our side, the earlier we can consolidate our both forces in a *meaningful* way.

That´s Tactics/Diplomacy 101 for you.

... even with offical channels we're still her rival. Plus, similar to Xanathos, we'll probably need to take a Diplo action every time we collaborate with her... said action also requires a roll to actually have us successfully collaborate.

Just wanted to point out that Shego may perfectly have Occult heroes working for her. Like, I seriously doubt she's none since that would make her very easy to attack by people that have Occult stats, that, or the heroes she's working for her is enough to defend her against that kind of attacks. In any case, implying that a fellow King has no way of helping us with Occult matters (like Toffee) seems pretty disingenuous, more so if we're comparing what a King can do for us to a single Hero Unit.

... we didn't even know magic existed before we literally discovered that obe of our ancestors was a wizard. Shego almsot certainly doesn't know anything about the Occult as... why should she? She has no reason to try and learn more about it, and she has no reason to really care about it, as, to her, it would just be another Super power.

In the end, there's little reason for Shego to have an Occult hero. And, if she has one... what's stopping Khan from having an Occult hero? Doris? Bellweather? Occult is supposed to be another level to the Masquerade that only a few Kings actually know about, similar to how only the Monsters in Monsters Inc know about their "Masquerade" and Hawaii and the Alien Masquerade.

Even her throwing only say...a third of her ressources at Toffee (or any problem we´d end up tackling together) would be far more valuable than what one Hero Unit can offer on average.

Yeah... but, remember, we've only know about one "Cape"/"Super" who has an Occult stat... who isn't actually a Super, and that's Star. Every other Super we've learned about seems to lack a Occult Stat. I mean, it's possible that Shego could have rolled well and gotten one... but, it's also possible that, if Shego does have one, she just thinks that Occult hero is just a Super, and proceed to never actually utilize their Occult stat.
