Especially since Russ has a trait literally called "Secret Keeper".

Midsummer's Worst Nightmare

Yeah, the name of the objective leaves little room for doubt. The Dream Queen is 99% likely to be Mab, considering that Puck and the Third Race royals get their names from Shakespeare's Midsummer Night's Dream and if we are running with Gargoyles canon for that, she is likely to be a super-heavy hitter Occult-wise.

[ ] Research esoteric transportation initiatives
DC 150

Bakaemono's CEO quietly revealed to you a few plans they had for a technology that would revolutionize shipping and transport the world over. Though they weren't ready to go public with this yet, you got the impression that Ms. Silverman was interested in making a push to new fields, given that the board of Bakaemono seems to have eased up as of late.

Something that could be interesting for our learning options next turn is to have the QMS do the esoteric transportation collab with Bakaemono, and have Wasabi work on the ODI. A scientific and magic portal research for our two learning actions. I bet that is the method by which we could reduce the cost of using the ODI, and could allow us to expand to other dimensions at a much larger scale. Plus, this gives Jumba opportunity to do another personal action finally as a follow up to his retreat one.

Plus, revolutionizing transport across the world could really help us with worldwide Dinosaur expansion and potentially make it easier to make Drusselstein less sucky.

[ ] Research extradimensional tech
Outcome: Other-Dimension-Inator created. You can manage to move some resources for your first expedition, but subsequent activations will incur a funds cost of 2. This cost may be reduced through various means.

You will be able to take your inaugural quest at any time after this action is completed.

Isn't Mab dead? And I would think Mab is Mab.

Isn't Mab dead? And I would think Mab is Mab.

No. Oberon is dead and Titania holds the throne of Avalon. The last explicit mention of Mab had her as asleep in a "let's hope that doesn't change" mention by the folks of the Magus Bazar.

Lao Shi sighed again. "The Children of Titania, or the Third Race as they are also called, take their name from their reigning monarch. As each one dies or fades from power, the next takes up the mantle. Titania, and her husband Oberon before her, and…" Lao Shi clutched a small talisman around his neck. "His mother before him."
"His mother?" Max asked.
"Shut your mouth, kid." Marrok advised.
"Queen Mab is dreaming, and with any luck she will remain dreaming." Lao Shi said. "Now, to the matter at hand. Max, what have you managed to glean of the Kitsune's will? He asked, clearly attempting to lead the boy further.

In my personal opinion, go big or go home so LET'S GET DANGEROUS

A Frightful Sight: Russ beholds the full malice of Negaduck in the Mindscape. He will not be able to use Tooned Out or Just a Dream for 3 turns. He will also refuse to enter the Mindscape for this time.
That Reminds Me of a Joke: Negaduck does not do anything to harm Russ or you. He gets Creative instead.

Taking Unplanned just makes the action a waste and I want to put off the Dream Queen for as long as possible. Even if it's poking the bear, the bear was already barreling towards town with intent to murder everyone. Xanatos is also calling Negaduck's bluff which is almost certainly going to fuck with Xanatos' plans anyway. Negaduck getting creative is not going to affect the wider effort to stop him.

I think it will and that's the point. What else would it be doing? It's going to impose some additional complication for this crisis.
Putting a personal touch on Doofania would be my guess. Some people are catastrophizing that this will ruin all of Xanatos' preparations when the guy is walking into such an obvious trap that Negaduck has to be directly abusing toonforce to make it happen. I think we can handle whatever special touch he sends our way, but only if we get the info. Especially since its the more narratively interesting track, which means A LOT when it comes to Toons.

Also I think Tobe should train with Maui Mallard. If he's just about to finish training Dennis and Tobe hasn't trained with him once yet, I fear Tobe might lose the option to train with him if we let it sit there for too long. Plus, it should give Martial, Intrigue, and Occult benefits, making Tobe a much better flex unit.

Update: got confirmation that Crises count as quests.

The one thing I want to note about Unplanned here is given that you do not know when Negaduck is going off. If he ends up going off at the end of next turn, and you try to roll on Investigate Negaduck next turn, you will get nothing from the action except the steadily rising horror of whoever realizes they are too far away to help in time.

Of course, he could also be coming late, and then you'd have the opportunity to get a really high investigate roll.

Risks.

Ara's confirmation is exactly the reason we can't afford to take the unplanned outcome.

We have to take something out of this or we're going in blind with a unit we nerfed for nothing. If Russ is going to be losing a trait for the immediate anyway, we might as well make him taking a hit be worth something to us.

Which reinforces my, and other's, points further. Unplanned is NOT an option. We have to pick the poison pill between Negaduck and Dream Queen and I will take a slightly worse crisis over an additional crisis every time.

Personal Action votes
Choose 2 failures:
[ ] Unplanned: Russ returns, unable to find what you need. No information gained. Action DC reduced by half. Time is running out.
[ ] A Frightful Sight: Russ beholds the full malice of Negaduck in the Mindscape. He will not be able to use Tooned In or Just a Dream for 3 turns. He will also refuse to enter the Mindscape for this time.
[ ] That Reminds Me of a Joke: Negaduck does not do anything to harm Russ or you. He gets Creative instead.
[ ] In the Queen's Court: Russ has wandered too close to her demesne. The Dream Queen arrives the moment the full moon wanes.

Vote separately from the personals. No need for plan voting for the failures, the two with the highest number of votes will be counted.

[ ] Study history
Your studies into science and technology have progressed well. It's time for you to see what's happened to the world since your death.

Progress revealed: 96/100

[ ] Aid your Descendant

[ ] Take an acrobatics course
You may be… getting on in years, but that doesn't mean you can't still try for your true passions! Dreams don't have an expiration date. But life does, so better get cracking.

[x] Commit Heroism
Norm's off in San Fransokyo. Maybe you'll hear about him on the news?

[ ] Complete a Mission for the Government
At the end of the day, Agent Russ is here on the behalf of the government. Sometimes the Feds need him somewhere else.

Outcome: Agent Russ will become a hero unit for the Federal Government for this Rival Report. Russ may inform you of his activities.

[ ] Spy on Doof
Agent Russ has technically been ordered to do what you tell him to unless it endangers national security more than it already has been. Practically though, his main goal is to see how dangerous Doof really is, and if the government needs to divert more resources to him. This action may reduce the government's threat assessment of Doof and increase Russ' loyalty… or the opposite, depending on what Russ sees Doofensmirtz doing.

[ ] Spend time with the Toons
You could use some reassurance, right now.

Outcome: Russ spends some time with those lovable characters, the toons.

[ ] Reach Out to Fredzilla
You decided to mention the superhero known as 'Fredzilla' to the Good Doctor during your report on San Fransokyo, and you're still trying to decide if that was a mistake or not. Doofenshmirtz has apparently gotten it into his head that 'such a clear source of heroism would be a valuable foil for my employees' and that he would enjoy 'subverting the heroes of the world into performing as his 'foxpaw' (sic) against competing villainy'. The kid ties your head in knots and can't seem to decide if he's a genius or an idiot, but you must admit there is a spark of… something, about the boy. He all but invited you to reach out, even if the specifics promise to be… migraine inducing. It's been a while, but... he stuck in your head.

Outcome: Recruit Fredzilla.

Outcome: Janna will develop the ability to use magic on her own.

[ ] Study the Manual of Witchcraft and Alchemy
You got this cool book at the auction for the low low price of absolutely free, and it's just brimming with all sorts of dark magic and secrets. Take some time to give the thing a read and see what more you can learn.

Outcome: Possible further contacts in the Magus Bazaar, Janna may obtain new magical items

[ ] Break Into the New Quackmore Institute
Feldrake has recently discovered he has a descendant, a rather prissy looking one at that, living on top of one of his old sanctums. Clearly, the correct response to this is to break into his house.

Janna may drag her friends along on this; it won't cost them an action, as they won't want to help.

[ ] Do Stuff for the Doof
-[ ]Which Project?

[ ] Experiment!
Your evil Experiments are to being a scourge across entire spiral arm! Tinker in your workship and see what abomination you may create next!

Depending on the results of the roll, something great or terrible could come of this. Think of it as a second Inator roll weighted towards chaos. Recent events have made this slightly more likely to end well.

You've still got a few antborgs left over, hiding out in your lowermost warrens. You could direct them to build an escape route out of the city, just in case the worst comes to pass. I've already made my case for the Russ options

[ ] A Frightful Sight: Russ beholds the full malice of Negaduck in the Mindscape. He will not be able to use Tooned Out or Just a Dream for 3 turns. He will also refuse to enter the Mindscape for this time.
[ ] That Reminds Me of a Joke: Negaduck does not do anything to harm Russ or you. He gets Creative instead.

As for the others,

[] Plan I can't think of a name, this is just an example
-[] (Khan) Study history
-[] (Monogram) Take an acrobatics course
-[] (Norm) Commit Heroism
-[] (Dennis) Train with Maui Mallard
-[] (Janna) Study magic with Feldrake
-[] (Jumba) Finish incubating Subject T.K.
-[] (Lizzy) Build backup tunnels
-[] (Tobe) Train with Maui Mallard
-[] (Kitsune) Check in with Janna
-[] (Alan) Work with ???
-[] (Cruella) Make an Exotic Coat
-[] (Kermit) Look for the Muppets
-[] (QMS) Practice Theatrics

A lot only have a single option and a good chunk of the rest we're mostly in agreement on right?

[ ] Unplanned: Russ returns, unable to find what you need. No information gained. Action DC reduced by half. Time is running out.
[ ] A Frightful Sight: Russ beholds the full malice of Negaduck in the Mindscape. He will not be able to use Tooned In or Just a Dream for 3 turns. He will also refuse to enter the Mindscape for this time.

I'd unironically take these, perhaps using a Dickens contract to complete the action. That way if it turns out that Negaduck goes ham next turn, the horrified realization bit will not deprive us of a key hero or another for the duration of the crisis.

Negaduck getting creative means that the information that we'll get in exchange is likely to be invalidated anyway and the Dream Queen is likely a heavy that could cost us Russ permanently.

Wait, we have an action with a 40% to net Janna All The Powers of Hell, in blue to to boot? Why are we not taking it immediately?

Putting this here again. Updated with input from Nystical.

Russ Consequences: Vote Separately

[ ] Unplanned: Russ returns, unable to find what you need. No information gained. Action DC reduced by half. Time is running out.

THIS WOULD LEAVE US BLIND WITH NO INFORMATION AND VERY LIKELY NO OPPORTUNITY TO TRY INVESTIGATING AGAIN. DO NOT PICK.

[ ] A Frightful Sight: Russ beholds the full malice of Negaduck in the Mindscape. He will not be able to use Tooned Out or Just a Dream for 3 turns. He will also refuse to enter the Mindscape for this time.

Least bad outcome. Easy choice.

[ ] That Reminds Me of a Joke: Negaduck does not do anything to harm Russ or you. He gets Creative instead.

Arguments Pro:
* Short term consequences
* Probably confined to the current crisis.
Arguments Con:
* Xanatos is disappointed in us.
* Could exacerbate our losses during the crisis.

[ ] In the Queen's Court: Russ has wandered too close to her demesne. The Dream Queen arrives the moment the full moon wanes.

Arguments Pro:
* Consequences for later.
* We're going to have to deal with this eventually anyway.
* It's mysterious and interesting!
Arguments Con:
* We have no idea how bad this could be.
* Up to and including Russ getting sent back to the Twilight Zone.

Retreat Plan: Training Montage

Colour Code:
* Red = Stat Boost
* Green = Loyalty Boost
* Blue = Crisis Prep
* Yellow = Hero Recruitment
* Uncoloured = Only Option / None of the above

-[ ] Personal Actions:
--[ ] Genghis Khan (Study History)
--[ ] Dennis The Duck (Train with Maui Mallard)
--[ ] Francis Monogram & NOWCA (Take an acrobatics course)
--[ ] Quirky Miniboss Squad (Practice Theatrics) - "Increased Narrative Competency" is exactly what we need going into a crisis. Robot Body doesn't give a bonus until it's performed three times.
--[ ] Janna (Study magic with Feldrake)
--[ ] Tobe and the Vagabond Ninja (Train with Maui Mallard)
--[ ] Kermit The Frog (Look For The Muppets)
--[ ] Dr. Jumba Jookiba (Finish incubating Subject T.K.) - Stat boost, not recruit, based on previous New Man result.
--[ ] Kitsune (Check in with Janna) - Possible stat boost as well if Magnificent Few is un-nerfed by this.
--[ ] Cruella De Ville (Make A Coat)
--[ ] Agent Russ (Recruit Fredzilla)
--[ ] Queen Lizzy (Build backup tunnels) - Potentially the most useful out of all personal actions given an evacuation may be in order.
--[ ] Alan Bradley (Work with ???)

Goal here is to maximise stat boosts ahead of the crisis. We know from Kataclysm that basically any of our units can be dragged into combat rolls at any point during the event, so we want to make sure everybody is as ready as they can be.
