About finding proof.. Have the arachnids managed to kill a dragon yet? We could get the Bosses to kill one and then parade it's preserved body around in the 7th path for starters.

[X] Training plan Hazō
Spend 27 Yamanaka XP
Resolve 26 -> 27
Save 1.42 yamanaka xp and 412 normal xp

Also I'd like to note we have enough xp right now to get earthshaping up to 41, if we want to check if the shiny is behind that barrier. Also, we need to see if the earth dragon bullet or equivalent exists, we really need to make element half costs work for us if we want to be decent in combat, if cannai continues to not like us.

On that note, should we do some preliminary research into someone else to give the scroll to? We could start teaching akane summoning, or maybe Harumitsu and give the Hagoromo a coniption

[X] Get the Hornets to lure a Dragon to Dog Territory

....I thought we didn't want to kill Cannai?

Also, Cannai could just have waited until they finished talking.

Dogs: "Yeah! Let's go!"
Hazou: "Cool, I ask the Alpha for permission, because that's what I should do anyway"
Cannai: "You should have asked first, but I accept that you had no bad intentions"

The series of events is kind of ....weird.

The Arachnids have not killed a Dragon, no.
Just saying, I think 5SB'd spidersilk traps have a very good chance of killing or crippling a Dragon. We (hopefully) should have Arachnids and Hornets trained on seal activation by now. While luring the Dragons off the butte they could take one to a prepared ambush site where it is lured into flying into the silk and either dies immediately or is dispatched by the waiting ambush.

As to finding proof, have Canabisu send an authenticated message with codes only he knows about the situation in Arachnid, if he refuses to say there are Dragons without seeing one first, bring him along to the next expedition to the butte as far as Kumokugo will allow.

If he doesn't know any codes that would authenticate a message for Cannai, scream for a while.

If I recall correctly, when we Queen Spider Wife how many it would take to kill a dragon, she said "a few", and then we realized she meant a few BOSSES, and we ended up getting our answer. Also, sadly, the longer we wait, the more powerful they'll get, so if the plan is force vs force, we need to get on that now.

Akane and Cannai would get along well, though if this is because of Cannai being that unimpressed with us, or partner might not be the ideal option.

But back to the combat abilities, we do have Pangolin Earth Armor, which 7 iterations ago was "the most important stat, eventually" (sealing, resolve, Shadow clone, alertness, and now maybe Earthshaping have taken the title? I'm forgetting at least one, but I know it was the one after taijutsu). It looks really strong, it's just rather Chakra intensive, though there's a chance that either that decreases at higher level, or it just becomes better armor, I can't remember. Either way, it stacks with the training jutsu so once we're ready to reveal we have a good armor option, we can busy that out? Our reserves are getting up there as well, slowly.

But I think that's a conversation for IC Hazou and Kagome to have? "Is there any chance I could fix it? 3D seals and earth seals and sage seals are all uncharted, but it's this or make a new one from scratch, right? What do you think?"
"Aaaaaaiiiiieeeeeeee"
Even if the conversation isn't likely to go anywhere, earth shaping and sealing are our best bets. Getting both to 40 would be nice, but still not exactly Sage tier, but we're running out of time.

I think that definitely is worth trying, but I'd like a plan B, in case it doesn't fully kill them or they have some extra BS power, since we want it to be able to work again, which means we need to make sure the one we use it on ends up dead.

Oh yeah Plan B is to run the fuck away and don't risk any assets we can't lose in the first place. Actually that's Plan C, Plan B is to hit them with implosion seals and a bunch of different kinds of macerator and youthanizer, Earbuster, Goo Bomb etc. everything we've got.

EDIT: IMO the updates so far suggest that the Dragons don't cooperate, so there's a good chance that even if we just injure one it won't communicate with the others and warn them.

[X] Action Plan: Armageddon-lite Initiative
Wordcount: 380

Sanity Check With Mari,Kei and Noburi(First), Shikamaru.

  • Asuma
    • The Great Seal is cracked.
    • We're officially trying to recreate the work of the Sage of the Six Path, let him have mercy on us all.
    • Personally. Hazou is furious, he's stuck in Leaf, watching everyone else going into the meatgrinder, too weak and busy to help. People are dying because of two land-grabs, so:
    • Proposal, Summon Boss Rush.
      • Use the Great Seal to convince the Summon Bosses to fight.
        • Carrots, Leaf will put fixing the seal as it's priority:
          • Direct all their Sealmasters on it
          • Putting Orochimaru on it
            • He worked on the Akatsuki world changing seal.
          • Contact other villages
          • Use all their summoners to help with the seal.
          • Put Scroll hunts on high priority, so that more summoners can help.
          • Do not attack other summoners if they collaborate on the Seal, unless attacked.
          • Last ditch effort: Leaf will contact the Akatsuki, the only people that made a similar seal. (Only if Mari approves)
          • All of this once the war is over.
        • Sticks:
          • Leaf is currently against an existential threat, so:
          • Oro must fight in the war, other Villages are busy/enemies and cannot be contacted, some sealmaster are needed for the war.
        • Insurances:
          • Crusade-like contract. Bosses that help with the attacks won't be attacked by other members of the contract.
          • All members of the contract will defend the ones that participate in case of aggression.
          • Leaf will personally retaliate with their Summoners + the clans that accepted the Contracts against aggressive clans.
      • Summon Boss Rush:
        • Get close to Rock(Summons can reach Rock), Summon Bosses/Elite Jonins, run away.
        • The Summons attack. Not to win, but to damage the enemy.(Direct Assault? Patrols?)
        • Repeat day after day until needed.
        • Noburi will recharge Chakra, the double Wakahisa Zoo Rush is also possible. Ami is now ambassador of Mist and she knows about the Great Seal.
        • Use Condors to make the travel faster/safer.
      • Unrelated, you feel Conjura could be an asset.
        • She can fly. She also has a perfect way to be convinced: help freeing the Condors once Leaf is stable. But we'll need to be careful on how she deployed because of her grudges.
      • It's a complicated and difficult plan, the prize? We win the war. No more losses.

Summoners should approach Rock from different direction, and Boss Summons should also vary their direction of approach for further indirection. This should be determined by dice rolls if possible.

Also, I feel naked with only Orochimaru as body guard. I hope we will have more body guards for summoners.

To provide my own two cents on the whole "Forgot to check with Cannai" thing, is that it's honestly part of a overarching issue that has seemingly plagued this quest from the very start.

That being that the QM's (being @eaglejarl and @Velorien) from my view of things seemingly mostly look at the letter of the plans the questors make while tending to disregard the "spirit" behind said plans.

Because I can guarentee you that the Hivemind definitely did not intend to make a plan that made Hazo's go behind Cannai's back, nor threaten Kabuto's life for that matter.

The reason I see this as unfair is because I think it sets a overly harsh standard where the questors have to look over each and everysingle plan like it's a actual legal document to make absolutely sure it doesn't accidentally contain anything that would screw them over.

Now, setting this kind of harsh standard would be perfectly acceptable if the questors were all lawyers and thus really should know better then making these sorts of oversights.

But the questors are NOT lawyers (As far as I know anyhow) and expecting the questors to not make oversights like the Cannai thing seems like it's expecting a tad too much from rando's from the internet.

Nobody likes having to comb through plans like it's actual legalese.

PS. I will however note that the whole "Jounin commander Orochimaru" plan is 100% the player's fault tho, that shit genuinely ranks up there for me with that one time where the questors in a Bleach quest outsmarted themselves and voted to stab themselves through the heart. :V

Maybe Tsunade or more escorts? Possibly send Naruto with them? Maybe even summoned guards? These are reasonable points, but i feel Leaf is up to the task regarding the implementations details(aside from particulary strange ideas that they could not think of), they are an entire village full of veterans that knows the enemy better than us.

Aren't boss summons horrifically expensive? Considering the slugs are just one slug, is Oro the only one with the coils to do so, nevermind the clout (yes, I know Asuma can too, but he can't exactly go to the frontlines). The fact that many of the bosses seem unconvinced of the great seal issue (including now currently Cannai?) Means that is isn't as much leverage as this implies. Plus, it would leave us very open to attack if we did it day after day.

Asking Akatsuki and other villages for assistance is interesting, but there's significant issues with trust there. Them trusting us it is real, and us trusting them to not stab us in the back. I just wish there was a way to have proof. It's almost worth inventing photography for. Except that Spider Wife might murder us for even thinking that. Alas.

Random Thought:

Mari isn't FOOMing as we know it, but that's not to say Mari doesn't have her own enhanced system of training. We call Ami-Style Training because Ami introduced us to it, but it's important to note that she learned it from the Heartbreaker-Mari.

And the QMs have said that Mari (a well-established jonin) has her own methods of training (it's why Hazou doesn't have access to her character sheet or training plans). So Mari, a social spec, is likely doing her own version of FOOM, but through "Ami"-Style Training (a terrifying notion) and Shadow Clones.

This method of training is hampered by creativity, but Mari is a successful TH-er, a Genjutsu Mistress (remember her borderline cruel genjutsu training?) and she's also "a smile that was illegal in six countries" Mari. I'd say that she has creativity in excess.

So pick a god and pray, because Mari may be well on her way to being a Social Spec S-ranker. Personally, I hear good things about Jashin.

Tsunade can probably summon it, Oro can, Asuma can. The Jonins can use Noburi's overcharge if needed. Yes, it has a risk of attack, it could also end the war as we know and Rock is only 8-9 hours from Leaf, so it wouldn't be that big of a risk.(And couldn't really attack with a big force if they need to protect their home, while we have our entire force+ Naruto at home).
On Akatsuki and the other villages...i doesn't really matter to the plan, to be fair. It's a barganing chip to convince the clans at the moment.

They cost about 500 cp, that's a normal amount of chakra for a Jounin to have. With Noburi for refills we could plausibly get Snake, Slug, Monkey, Condor, and Porcupine on the field. Toad as well if Nobs can pick up 5-7 more levels of CR.

Because I can guarentee you that the Hivemind definitely did not intend to make a plan that made Hazo's go behind Cannai's back, nor threaten Kabuto's life for that matter.
Hazo, in character, has a long and proud history of running his mouth and failing to consider consequences. He wasn't stupid out of nowhere. This is a well-established failure mode of his and it's our responsibility to stay in front of that. We didn't include any language to the tune of 'check with Cannai first' and that is on us.

It also seems in pretty poor taste to accuse the QMs of not dealing with us in good faith given that they've got a great track record of doing so and that they spend a huge amount of time and effort providing us with free entertainment.

Wasn't Asuma stated to have reserves big enough to hold several jonin's worth of chakra and still have room for more? I vaguely remember Noburi saying he had a huge chakra capacity or something.

IIRC, Noburi said he(Noburi) had more than a pair of average Jonins. He saw Asuma's CR in the collapse, when he was surprised by how much Chakra he needed to give him to put him at 100%.

I don't think we're wading in the wilderness when it comes to 3D seals.

I brought this up before in discord, and want to state again that there's a strong likelihood that bijuu seals and the GS share features by being under the class of dimensional seals. There more exotic than your average storage seal, but same core purpose.

Tsunade can probably summon it, Oro can, Asuma can. The Jonins can use Noburi's overcharge if needed.
Just chiming in again, I asked a couple weeks ago about this based on IC knowledge and I think we can assume that it's very plausible we can do this.
Actually.... Noburi has refilled all the Summoners. So he should be able to estimate all of their reserves. @eaglejarl @Velorien does the Condor Summoner have chakra reserves more than twice the size of Hazou? That would be enough to summon a Boss.
More than twice Hazou's reserves is 54 CR minimum, for 540 cp, with 5% free overcharge that's 567 cp, just enough to summon a Boss for 555 cp.

Edit: for corrected math

Aren't we going to run into chakra water poisoning after a few repetitions? Did we test if the excess water-clearing jutsu worked to avoid the poisoning?

Because of this I don't think the Summon Boss Rush will work. Also, Rock can presumably hunker down underground where we won't be able to get at them. Sure the Pangolin Boss can dig, but the other Bosses aren't tunnelers.

Noburi will recharge Chakra, the double Wakahisa Zoo Rush is also possible. Ami is now ambassador of Mist and she knows about the Great Seal.
That would inform Mist of the secret behind Leaf's Summon-Rush. It would also mean Mist has to commit to the war against Rock since they're sending their own shinobi to assist Leaf directly against Rock.

Unrelated, you feel Conjura could be an asset.

I don't think we can promise that since we have nothing to give the Pangolins that is worth more than an entire Clan of slaves.

I also don't think she'd believe us, or want our help.

Last ditch effort: Leaf will contact the Akatsuki, the only people that made a similar seal. (Only if Mari approves
Might want to make it clear that only Mari is hearing about this bit. No need to propose treason to Shikamaru right off the bat.

Hold up, we don't know for sure we need to create an entirely new Great Seal. Have we even tried to repair the current one yet? It's cracked yes, but we don't even tested if Earthshaping could repair those cracks. Let's not jump to conclusions and decide the current Great Seal is unsalvageable before we gain more information.
