Very late responses to things people said, sorry.
We gave him a plan that went off flawlessly, helped him out of a losing position he had inflicted on himself, killed tons of his enemies, had zero casualties, obtained a ton of intelligence and got Leaf a priceless artifact and he wants to bag on us for that. Fuck you Asuma. I can't wait till we can put you to the sword through FOOM
I mean, the priceless artifact we got is probably going to us, to specifically a non-field Ninja. And the losing position wasn't exactly his fault. This response is a little late, but seems relevant with the recent Anti-Asuma sentiment. He isn't meaningfully dissing us, he's trying to help while also having other priorities as well.
Also, I think Yuno's birthday is tomorrow, so that's a thing.
Based on the timeline, it is still tomorrow I think? Or is it now today?
It doesn't stack according to the description of the jutsu in the Rules Doc, but if the QMs want to change the rules it to make it easier to get to cryogenic temps I won't complain.
It will still go nuke, probably. When the air gets to condensation temperatures (79 K) the affected Zone will drastically drop in pressure from approximately 1 bar to whatever the vapor pressure of liquid air is at the EM target temperature. This will cause a huge pressure differential. Such a pressure differential is enough for inrushing winds much much stronger than a strong tornado. Tornado strength winds result from a 0.9 bar pressure inside the center.
It looks like air freezes at 58 K. Since solids generally have no vapor pressure we could easily get a pressure differential of 1 bar at the center of our megatornado. This would cause widespread devastation surrounding the AoE of the jutsu. It would be much stronger than a tornado b/c of 10x the pressure differential and since tornadoes only damage structures for seconds vs the minutes the jutsu lasts
All in all I think we still have a WMD
Very cool. But, based on that, the caster would also be dead, yes? I don't see why they would be immune from the secondary effects of gaming the jutsu.
Cast Fist or Cast Big Fist at you, you hit them with the good 'ol Your Palms Are Sweaty, Bones Are Spaghetti no jutsu.
I'm sorry, this is just such a good line, I laughed so hard I started hiccuping.
Mostly because I think we as a playerbase are much more competent than any NPC. So I think the odd of success greatly increase if we go.
But mostly I want to do it because it's an interesting challenge that I would enjoy reading. Nothing exciting is going to happen in Leaf so I'll probably stop participating for a while
Only you would describe world war 4 as nothing exciting

.
Also, I definitely disagree about being much more competent then any NPC. Leaving aside the competence isn't just a function of cleverness (wealth, political power and consistency go a long way towards competency, and we are missing a couple of those), some NPC characters are created to be clever or competent in ways that we are not. Watsonian, Hazou may out-perform a clan heir or Jonin on a good update, but we don't see him doing it consistently, and his skills don't back it up. Doylist, I don't put faith in our ability to be "much more competent" than the competent characters that EJ and Vel put a large amount of time writing, especially when factoring in underlying mechanics and characterization that we aren't yet privy to.
I'd prefer for us to do things that we can do, because this is a quest. But I'm perfectly fine saying "let competent NPCs who want to do a thing" do the thing when it's relevant. For example, Shika threw down in a way this update that we honestly couldn't match. And even if we could tell he was shaky on it, he did it. One of us, indeed.
[ ] Action Plan: The First and Last Resort is Honesty, Followed Closely By Voluntary Vivisection
- Timeskip until we can meet with Orochimaru.
- Spend time with family and friends, write a will (Dog scroll to Akane, clan to Noburi) and do whatever needs doing.
- Memorize the speech with the Iron Nerve so we can give it no matter what.
I will never vote for a timeskip when we're fighting wars right now in two different planes of existence. That just feels very ill-advised. And there's so much we need to be doing in that time.
I'm looking forward to it, but also note that I don't consider lack-of-response as a gesture of surrender. Rather, I'm well familiar with the point where a given point becomes too arduous to express, where too much of my mind-state needs to be conveyed if I want to get someone to understand me, that I'm not willing to put in all that effort, at least in the scope of the given argument. In fact, I would consider that the most common reason for arguments to end, both sides still holding to their thesis but having already said everything that doesn't take extraordinary effort to say.
So instead, when I see someone not respond I simply take it as agree-to-disagree, the same thing I would in general wish someone else would feel if I withdrew in such a manner. That said, if you do have more to say, or are concerned about which of us got the last word and how that looks in the context of a public forum, don't take this as a call to stop. Just, you know, don't base your decision on the expectation that if I saw no response I'd start declaring victory over your thesis.
Just felt the need to point out how I appreciate this as a social interaction description/rationale/expression of the meta behind disagreeing ideas.
Made a variant replacing asuma's suggestion with Shika's. Feels iffy to me but since the nara suggested it I'll give it a shot. I'm not sure what shika meant by using Tsunade/naruto to deter oro, so I just put beat oro up
[x] Action Plan: Deterrence and negotiation
Suggest (with hazou pilot deciding tone/phrasing):
- Kei goes to convince pantsa to hold the embassy hostage. When she returns Snowflake leaves immediately to meet with Orochimaru. While they do this we finish preparations.
- Snowflake meeting Oro
- first says she is the cognitively independent shadow clone. and that any intimidation will pop her fragile body
- inform cognitive independence is because she does not possess her progenitor's bloodline, frozen skein
- then focus on listening/observing oro. if oro asks why kei isn't here. admit because she fears oro will harm her. so she does not wish to meet him. then ask does oro intend to harm kei? ask the question in as clear a way as possible to prevent misunderstandings, since anko said oro is socially blind. Then mention kei could be convinced to see oro. But He need to guarantees kei's wellbeing, and offer incentives. Ex: jutsu, Permanent body for snowflake, work on the great seal
- use judgement call on if/when to
- inform oro of kei's wellbeing tied to 7path embassy, noburi's services, isan diplomacy (takahashi chose leaf in large part due to kei's influence), and naruto/Tsunade beating him up
- that mari only lied to oro since she feared for kei's lifel
[*]Kei remember to stay within shadow clone range. Yuno and Kagome stays with her. If snowflake pops Kagome and Kei run immediately towards some safe location (decide where so everyone knows where it is), unless while running the memories suggest a better plan. When arrived Kagome fortifies it. Yuno runs to inform the others this occurred.
- Akane and Mari go to convince tsunade and naruto respectively to tell oro they will beat him up if he kidnaps kei. Once naruto recruited have him uses shadow clones to set up communication network with everyone after finding them.
[*]Noburi tells asuma he holds his barrel hostage. Asks Asuma for info on Oro, even if it is classified.
[*]Hazou informs Ami
[*]Mari sends a shadow clone to inform the Nara of the plan.
[*]Have the other goketsu nin (haru, atomu, rei, etc.) do something? How much to inform them?
[/LIST]
No longer relevant because recent update (apologies), but holding hostage needed strategic elements during war would not play well, especially if it's only addressing the problem for us, rather than conceptually.
