The more I think on this the more I'm reminded of a certain IRL stumbling, stuttering failure of a Cheeto. Bleh.
I'm often reminded that when it comes to stuff like committing treason, escaping consequences by the skin of our teeth, not learning our lesson, and then immediately doing it again, I have way more empathy for the guy than is probably healthy since we've done the exact same thing in quest. :p

We should get Noburi some medic skills, make him spew poison instead of just dumping XP into boring jutsu.

I'd be okay with leveling his medical skills a bit, as long as we keep a healthy reserve of xp. We don't know how the toads fight, so it might be that Noburi needs a certain amount of Athletics, Deception, or something to be compatible with the Toad taijutsu.

To avoid timeskips

[x] Action Plan: Kagome's Forbidden Lore
[x] Action Plan: Threads Left Undone
[X] Action Plan: No Rest After Treason
[X] We trust you Velorien, write what you want
[X] Let Velorien write EJ's beach update

Akane has a few build potentials. Foom, EM bomb, Flame Aura, Tsunade apprentice. So for now:
[X] Training Akane: None

water dragon bullet and CR doesn't sound that interesting. so
[X] Training Noburi: None

I'm confused, what did I miss?
  • I find it rude to ask Velorien write the chapter that Eaglejarl wanted to write, especially when Eaglejarl mentioned that Velorien had stuff he wanted to do next chapter. It's unintentional rudeness, since we're overcorrecting in an attempt to be mindful, but it still strikes me as rude. I'd rather Velorien write what he wants to for this chapter and then have the next action plan be a beach day for Eaglejarl to write to his heart's content. Or, since the rules say that training/action plans are suggestions, let Velorien have free rein.

If I had to guess: this. Personally, I'm kinda hoping that Vel just ignores the action plan and writes what he wants so that EJ can write the beach episode that he wants. Of course, that's coming from the person that thought the beach episode was, originally, just an idle musing rather than a genuine wish on the QMs' part, so I might very well be wrong

If you meant to vote for Hazou's CR training plan, that would be:
[X] Training Hazou: Almost full chakra

[X] Training Noburi: Summoner preparation

[X] Action plan: Contest concluded, Hazo rebooted

Words: 201

  • Timeskip as close to the end of the contest as is comfortable with Velorien, whilst following up on other projects
  • Let Hazo take a break, now that his situation is more or less under control. He's Out compromised, "genjutsu compromised", he should take the backseat for the time being.
  • Ask Mari for help in dealing with Haru. No speeches, just help make him feel welcomed in the clan. See if Haru would want to regularly train with Hazo.
  • Have another heart to heart with Akane, this Chekov's sword is getting heavier by the day
  • Check up on Kagome's other Sealing apprentices. Are they far enough ahead to be doing original research, and are they still favorably inclined towards us? If so, work with them to start up on some avenues of research, like better air puffers. Double check everything with Kagome.
  • Check up on skyslider development. Do they need anything?
    • Hazo has suggestions:
      • Wind generation: flap paper fan to constantly generate wind. Maybe a seal could do that too(stronger air puffer seal)
      • Environmental isolation: build a wind tunnel to test skyslider models in. Hazo offers to build it.
      • Illustrating flow: Maybe we can see how wind spirit flows by using smoke? Burn wood for smoke then pipe it into a wind tunnel.
Sorry if formatting is weird, I did this on mobile

Updated with Kiba's skyslider suggestion
In the interest of brevity, can I suggest changing the sealing-apprentice section to:
  • Check up on Kagome's other Sealing apprentices. Are they ready to do original research? If so, ask them if they want to work with us on new avenues of research, like better air puffers. Double check with Kagome.
Possibly could include other ideas for the research avenues. I think there's been some interest in heat-producing seals, which is a tech tree that Hazou hasn't explored yet, but could plausibly be acquired for a new sealmaster to start speccing into.

Separately, do you think you could check out my plan, pick a few ideas you like, and tack them on as one-liners (with the caveat that they don't have to be on-screen)? I'm favorable to the land-clearing idea, since it's 1) not terribly dangerous and doesn't require a lot of brainpower, 2) improves civilian welfare, 3) contributes to the Contest, 4) signals us as willing to do tough work for the good of Leaf instead of just relying on clever and stupid ideas, 5) carries on Jiraiya's legacy by connection to till-and-fills.

I haven't caught up on everything lately but I haven't seen confirmation of a return to simulationism. So we might ask whether it's better for us to have contest rewards determined in a narrative or simulationist chapter.

Ugh, thanks, I'm still a little new to the voting hehe
Also, I will update the new sealmaster part with your brevity-fied version.

Looking over your plan, I really like these and will add them:
  • Try growing plants with Jiraiya's Daybright seals.
  • 5SB building foundations to prevent cave-ins. Submit proposal and test results (use Tunnel Excavation)
I'm concerned the land will be pricey to buy and then prepare, especially since it doesn't sound like we'd be selling it back. I'd rather just prepare the land without buying it if we're wanting to improve general Leaf welfare.

Mostly. It'll be the first option, but I am reserving the right to table flip if I feel it necessary. Which probably won't happen, but I'll let y'all know if it does.

Honestly, y'all should be rooting for me to stay narrative. It's much less likely for the hero to die -- for example, I went into that fight with Daizen perfectly willing to kill Hazō off and thereby end the quest, and it probably would have happened based on the stats I rolled+chose for Daizen. Then I realized I'd much rather have Afterlife Exploration and Necromancy Quest, so I forced a seal failure, opened rifts to the afterlife, and killed Daizen by fiat. (All the rolling was there to see how *many* seal failures there would be. I was amazed at how small the number ended up being.)

Well, there is that "10,000 acres" prize in the contest....

I have to agree that growing plants with the daybright seals is an awesome idea.

Wait..Hidan was right! A divine being decided to use Daizen vs Hazou to make a statement and show them the path ahead. Oh, and i guess the fact Jashin is Eaglejar confirmed, at least in that instance.

Also let's conserve XP for FOOM:Akane Edition

[X] Training Akane: None
[X] Training Noburi: Summoner preparation
[X] Training Keiko: A good Summoner dodges
[X] Training Hazou: Almost full chakra

[x] We trust you Velorien, write what you want

My policy is "Wait for QMs approval before leaving the update to them", but if i read this hint correctly, it means Velorien is actually interested in writing the next update, and this is all i need (Also, if i'm wrong, feel free to correct me).

I mean, he's interested in writing something for Thursday, because that's our jam. He hasn't actually said anything to me about "Gosh, I sure hope they give me a 'write what you want' because I'm totally jazzed for that" although he also did not seem opposed when the subject came up. I'm voting for it because I feel like it would have good results, but that's purely ponwong.
