  • Get info in private about Keiko's discussions with Hana, to the extent that she is willing to share.
  • Privately reflect on what Mari said, the context in which she said it, and her motivations for saying it. Think particularly on what she has said of her uncle:

  • Hazou realizes she was raped by her uncle. He may or may not condone her actions, but he at least can understand her anger, shame, and frustration with her past.
  • Meet Hana
    • Update Hana on progress we've made on Uplift, influencing Jiraiya to implement till-n-fills.
      • Point: We are making progress, and it is precisely because we have successfully allied ourselves with powerful and influential people who care. This would have never happened in Mist, under Yagura.
      • Point: This is Hazou's idea--Hazou's ideals--not Mari's, that are coming to fruition.
    • Outline our political situation in generic terms (public info that would be safe to tell anyone not from Leaf).
      • Point: Our clan isn't as stable as it might appear.
    • In no uncertain terms, let Hana know she fucked up. Hazou uses his own words, but roughly:
      • I wanted this to be good for us all. I wanted to make a home for you here too, but you chose to put petty revenge above all else, for selfish reasons.
      • You have endangered my plans for Uplift. You have undermined the safety of me, yourself, and every single person in this kami-forsaken world. Right now is a tipping point in Leaf-Mist relations, and it is especially a delicate time for me and my clan given I was a missing nin a few months ago. What do you think will happen to me if Jiraiya loses the hat?
      • I don't care if you hate Mari for who she is and what she's done. But you want to be a part of my life? Fix this shit. Yesterday.
      • I still love you, Mom, and we will make amends when this is over.
    • Do not take shit from Hana. Do not argue. Do not bend. Say our piece and leave.

Also, for what it's worth, I will vote for anyone's plan which involves doing uplift missions. Those things are almost exactly aligned with our goals, aside from not being the most money useful use of our time. Doing them:
  • Demonstrates commitment to our uplift case
  • Signals to others (i.e. Tsunade, Orochimaru, Akatsuki, whomever) that we're actually doing something for uplift
  • Helps reinforce Jiraiya's call to create the missions
  • Establishes Hazou as a known face to civilians, potentially letting us build a network of contacts in the countryside.
  • Familiarizes Hazou with the lay of the land, should he ever need to spend time on the run in the countryside.
  • Provides Hazou with something to do which will help give him a concrete goal and validation of usefulness

I think referring to Mari as "Mom" in Hana's presence might provoke an impromptu assassination attempt.

Make sure Mari eats with one person accompanying her, per meal.

In order:
  • Examination
    • Hazou is to spend a significant amount of time (upwards of two hours if necessary) thinking on what Mari said, the context in which she said it, and her motivations for saying it.
    • Think particularly on what he knows of her uncle, and of Truth Lost in the Fog's 'price'.
    • His conclusions about it don't really make her actions better, but it does explain them.
    • He may not understand her, but he stands by the words he said to her.
      • After all, he'd be an awful big hypocrite to let something like that sway his care for her compared to Kagome being... well, Kagome when he first met him.
    • Brainstorm with Keiko and Noburi over the conversation he's to have with Hana
      • Purpose: Get additional perspective.
      • This is important!
      • Keiko: What exactly did Mari and Hana say to you about this?
        • It's vitally important we know.
        • We won't be mad or upset, promise.
  • Talk with Hana (OPSEC COOKIES!!!)
    • Hazou is entirely sincere to Hana about how her actions toward Mari have made him feel. Invoke Open Mouth, Insert Foot where necessary.
    • Regardless of how Hana feels about Mari, her present state is bad for the Goketsu as a whole and individually. She needs to help fix it.
      • If Hana thinks Mari is terrible, then, please, help make her a better person.
      • He knows he's asking a lot. But Mari isn't going to go away. Wouldn't Hana rather she be a good influence?
Misc:
  • Create the Vibration-Sensor seal according to the specs that Keiko suggested.
    • If there is additional time (and Kagome clears it, etc.), change it to function in a cone, such that it may be placed multiple spots on the body to keep track of enemies moving.
  • Hazou goes to the Tower:
    • Hand in Explosives Tax (if completed).
    • Check out available seal blanks/blueprints/research notes
      • Look at every single one, trace the blueprints/notes with a finger while reading.
      • Intent: Iron Nerve to memorize it all. Just in case.
      • Every seal you can (legally) get your grubby hands on .
  • Start putting into practice the Orgy Night Disinfo Campaign (as designed by Ino).
  • Give Jiraiya the package the Oyabun gave us.
  • Get an hour or two of training in with Ebisu.
  • Do Till'n'Fills (one a day)

On the note of fate points:

The assumption regarding the invocation is that it can be used as such even outside of social combat (otherwise there's no point in using it there because Hana's so much better at socials than Hazou it's not even funny).

Related to fate points: If it turns out that we didn't give Jiraiya the Oyabun's package (excuse me while I go scream in a room about our ever-increasing incompetence), could we make a declaration that we did?
