On Thread Etiquette:

I'm not going to weigh in on the logic of either side's arguments, but I will ask that everyone read over what they write and really consider if the words they used are polite and won't be inflammatory intentionally or not. You cant account for people's tolerances perfectly but at least try to say your piece without saying things that can be easily construed as overly dismissive of the other side of the argument, thank you.

Please endeavour to be cordial. :^)

Caledor Dragontamer basically calls Morathi a talentless hack, even after thousands of years of practice.

Alith Anar running rings around her, especially early on, is not particularly surprising.
This is, perhaps, a bit much to my mind, not necessarily that CD would call her cringe but to try and treat it as an objective statement and not, you know, somebody with an ax to grind mocking her.

Which is why I said "especially early on". Alith Anar is also really good at sneaking, while Morathi might have a weakness in the area.

At the time Morathi was learning the fundamentals of magic, there wasn't much in terms of formal education on Ulthuan.
We don't know who Morathi's teachers were, but I suspect Caledor was one of those elves taught directly by the Slann.

Morathi could have learned magic while she was a prisioner of a chaos warband, which might mean that her magic is based on demonically derived knowledge and exceedingly reliant on dhar. And after she was rescued and subsequently had her dire prophecies laughed off from most courts on Ulthuan, she probably remained on that path purely out of pride and spite.

That is going to be a hell of a revelation if the one we did for the chainforger was any indication, valaya priest are going to be sooo pised at us if it start a trend of eye ripping amonst runesmith to get a windsigth eye prothesis.

Sorry if this has been adressed before, but have we gotten any deconfirmation on if Master Yorri IS Durin? He is very interessted in solving the consternation. He talks casually enough with Alric Thungnison to be an estranged brother who has used a lot of time to «muddy the records». He was strangely unconfertable with the idea of making the capstone gronti in the liknes of Durin.

Thungni has confirmed that Durin is dead. Additionally invisible text during Skarren's forging and the updates after it heavily imply that Yorri was witness to Durin falling into a Warp rift or being torn apart as a rune failed.

There shouldn't be anything stopping you from putting the rune onto glasses or a projecting talisman?
You are correct, even in the recent update Snorri mentions that he was able to use prosthetics to give himself a third arm.
We have been over this every time it gets brought up and I'm not sure if its the same people who aren't remembering the lesson or if its new people constantly making the same mistake.
Worst case scenario is a bit of a disorienting feeling from having a third eye, best case is no drawbacks and somewhere in the middle is disorienting but it fades as the dwarf gets used to the eye.
Theres nothing there that would make it so useful to tear out an eye to get windsight.

Caledor Dragontamer can call any mage that doesn't croak a talentless hack, because he is Caledor Dragontamer. That doesn't change the fact that the only extant mortal sorcerers capable of rivalling Morathi on field of battle also either croak, call her mom, or are Teclis.

Sadly, this specific rune does require an empty eyesocket to work, the price of breaking fundamental rules such as "dwarfs can't see winds" as soul put it

edit: specifically he said: "breaking fundamental rules requires sacrifice"

edit the second: note, he didn't say that the empty eyesocket requirement is an unsovable problem or applied universally, only that this specific rune we just made is limited like that (although it's probably not easy to solve given what he said about sacrifice)

Caledor Dragontamer would look at most younger mages like a child doing finger painting, or a puppy that was successfully potty trained. He can adjust his expectations based on the experience the mage has.
A human that's been learning the winds for 5 years gets a headpat for successfully casting battle magic.
Morathi still mucking around with Dhar after several thousand years gets dunked on and mocked.

She's the third biggest fish in a shallow pool, but she should have graduated to a bigger pool a long time ago.

To use CD's terms, she's still casting cantrips, when she should be casting world shaping enchantments. This was when she tried to undo the vortex, she didn't do it through magical might, but subterfuge and stabbing people.
