On Thread Etiquette:

I'm not going to weigh in on the logic of either side's arguments, but I will ask that everyone read over what they write and really consider if the words they used are polite and won't be inflammatory intentionally or not. You cant account for people's tolerances perfectly but at least try to say your piece without saying things that can be easily construed as overly dismissive of the other side of the argument, thank you.

Please endeavour to be cordial. :^)

I really like how despite wanting revenge, he is not letting it blind him towards his responsibilities. Peak hearth guard moment.

It really goes to show that Snorri knows how to pick his people, a normal dwarf would go charging into the darkness for vengeance, getting himself and his charges killed in the process.

That god damn Shadow Hag! We need to go after her next turn, the Grudge demands it!
It would give us a good opportunity to see what it looks like in Windsight when something dies.

Now for a completely different topic, what are the odds this is a critical insight on the road to making gronti that are truly alive by giving us the tools to start figuring out how to craft souls?

snorri grabbing the souls of his enemies and forging soul steel from them or creating soul steel to implant enemy souls into them with runes to force them to serve

runic necromancer snorri

Seal Scarbrand into a Laddel. A very very evil Laddel.

That appeals to my sense of sadism, Sealing the deamon of a wargod into something with utterly no use in battle, which would never see bloodshed for the rest of its days.

-- The Rune Metal Pt. 7 unlock condition met!
Finally, we are ready to continue the metal research, in like 5 turns, because of Gronti, and other stuff

Now this discussion of the importance of wind sighting is missing something, how Yorri is going to react. We already know that he knew Durin and trained by or at least in direct lineage of Durin. Yorri even said he was willing to for centuries for us to figure it out, and I'm pretty sure it hasn't been that long. I'm waiting for proud teacher moment and Snorri hearing he didn't do acceptable but a good job. It's not matching an Ancestor, but doing something they couldn't.

Don't say the Ancestors probably figured this out, they didn't or someone would have been told by now, cause no matter what, Thungni was going to work on what made his kid disappear if nothing more than to say, "Son, there is a solution, rest knowning it was found." Or if alive, "Foolish son, look here, this is how you start the research to solve this problem. Now stop moping and get to work the lazy boy."

So he didn't figure it out yet…Imagine Thungni coming back just to learn this rune

And then, by fate and malice, the ladle would find its way into the hands of some Dwarven matron who finds it most effective at beating some sense into foolish halfbeards.
And so Scarbrand experiences violence again, at last.

hmmm i wonder, could we imprison daemons inside of gromril, then put it into the smelter to purify the bar and daemon into adamant? would that kill the daemon?

I think we should consult Yorri about our achievement. See how much farther we have to go to convince everyone beyond a reasonable doubt. To tickle the little Ornsmotek shit-head we should teach it at the Runiversity so that we can offload the majority of research to the most ubiquitous of Runes to the masses. Let the Journeymen participate in the great soothing of the Consternation.

I'm so happy this quest is still going. Its going to be 5 years old in a couple months. The world may be crazy right now. But checking in on our favorite dwarf is always a pleasure to read. Thank you for writing Soulcake!

Snorri: what would you give up to solve Durin's Consternation?
Conclave: Anything
Snorri: then rip our your eye and gain my knowledge as I do for you *takes out his windsight eye in front of everyone from his own socket and holds it up still glistening wet*
As if the Santa comparisons weren't enough, now we're going for Odin as well. Sacrificed an eye, was able to learn the mystery of the runes, old man with a long white beard, learned unmanly/undwarflike arts such as the Elvish tongue in order to pursue magic more, etc.
