On Thread Etiquette:

I'm not going to weigh in on the logic of either side's arguments, but I will ask that everyone read over what they write and really consider if the words they used are polite and won't be inflammatory intentionally or not. You cant account for people's tolerances perfectly but at least try to say your piece without saying things that can be easily construed as overly dismissive of the other side of the argument, thank you.

Please endeavour to be cordial. :^)

The things we now see with dwarves with prosthetics may be a good way to solve the Barudin challenge with growing limbs. If we can use that overlap image to anchor a construct it may allow it to grow with the user.

ummmmm, She under Ornsmotek... onder Vragni's hold... under his base of power the Ciidadel of creation... that is FILLED with runesmiths....
How likely is he to beat us to our vengence?
Vragni and his apprentice swarm are otherwise occupied.

The original option made it clear that this would normally be his wheelhouse, so the fact that they're calling the Hearth Guard says some things.

Problem I see with that is soul images are based on how some people see themselves, the ones who see themselves as older or young would probably end up with bigger or smaller limbs. Best bet would be something that connects more closely to the body itself

Is Snorri allowed to go to Ornsmotek in pursuit of his grudge? (without Vragni getting territorial)
It's an old grudge against a monster that has killed close to triple digits of dwarfs and Snorri's personal retainers were already invited and killed in the fighting. No way Vragni is going to "officially" complain about it. If he could. Vragni would probably come to help, though grumbling all the way

You know what would really be amusing?

If at the next conclave, Vragni rocks up and tells everybody that he's figured out a way to measure some of the winds that affect runes, thereby opening up a new chapter in solving Durin's Concernation...

...And then Snorri walks up after and says 'solved it btw heres a eye'.

I think we might actually kill Vragni out sheer anger.

Vragni isn't the king. He can't stop Snorri.
Now he's going to get territorial regardless, however trying to interfere with Snorri is going to make every dwarf who hears about it think he's the bad guy here, as LordEdric pointed out.
His best case scenario is to kill the Meargh before Snorri arrives so he can make fun of Snorri for failing to clean up his own grudge.

Ok, but what if Snorri comes and expresses approval of the Citadel, as a joke?
Snorri sniffs in aprroval of the Citadel "I knew I was right to nominate you to be runelord."
Vragni collapses
Not really. It probably procs some bonus on dispelling it, but Wizards aren't immune to illusion, and so windsight cannot give immunity to illusion.
not immunity, but if she uses the winds to use her magic to hide, wouldn't snorri see a weird flowing or gathering of dark winds at her location?

or just outright see her soul

If it was that simple, Malekith or (insert whatever phoenix king) wouldn't be alive as the various elven practicioners of ulgu on both sides would just start assassinating whoever remains on top with impunity.

Illusions are Illusions. They are meant to fool the senses. I think we can all agree that Windsight is, in fact, sense. I've no doubt that it will give us bonus to let us see through the illusions/let us realize they are there but there is no way that it lets you somehow bypass them entirely.

Step 1, a prosthetic eye that gives us Magesight, complete!
Step 2, a monocle or goggles so that people don't have to maim themselves to get Magesight, TBD

I wouldn't be against it.

That thing needs to die and frankly I'll be more than happy if Snorri was the one to do the deed or arm the one that does so.
If we have a Hearthwarden lacking an eye, then a Rune of Windsigh for them would mean the Hag wouldn't have the element of surprise from Ulgu, because he would see the winds curling and twisting just fine.

Prospect: Does a Prosthetic Eye Rune require an eye socket?
If no: Goggles
If yes: Backburner Workshop (Power Armor) Helmet Section may be of use.

Summary of relevant section: Make an oversize helmet in the shape of a head, or a solid head fixture that fits on top of a suit of armor, which has the Eye Rune inscribed in it.

Darkwood's Backburner Workshop:
Project: Runic Power Armor (Step 1)
Part 1 (The Helmet): Produce an oversized helmet with fully sculpted facial features, bearing Runes of [Forged Eye], [Forged Ear], and [Forged Nose] to give the wearer a full set of facial senses ([Forged Tongue] has been deemed unnecessary for this project)
Thought Process: If a helmet doesn't have to be 'worn' like a traditional helmet (i.e. Affixed to the head of the user) it could function as a Talisman of sorts, thus expanding the available Rune Slots. (So long as the helmet isn't fully attached/can be knocked off by a sufficiently hard blow it should work)
Part 2 (The Body): Produce an oversized suit of armor bearing Runes of [Animation], [Direction], and [Forged Limb]. To produce a suit of armor that can be worn like a second skin. [Animation] and [Forged Limb] should allow the armor to lift its own weight, thus allowing it to be thicker and heavier.
Thought Process: Admittedly I'm trying to place as much "Conceptual Weight" as possible onto the idea of the armor functioning as an extension of the wearer's body and Brute Forcing the desired result.

Hopeful Result: x1.5 Size Dwarf with appropriately extra thick protection, capable of wielding suitably oversized weaponry. Unknown if strength will translate appropriately to size. If results can be Compressed, Step 2 (Single Piece Power Armor) can be devised, leading directly to Step 3 (Single Rune Power Armor)

Disorganized Notes:
Disclaimer: I'm not calling it the Rune of Waking. It will always be the Rune of Animation to me.
Minimum helmet size will be determined by the minimum size of a Forged Eye, as at minimum the eye must sit in front of the wearer's own. (Or the 'helmet' could be a solid block in the shape of a head. That might work too.)
It may be prudent to design the armor so the wearer would be looking out through the chest/beard area, to further increase the effective final height and make maximum use of the helmet.
The helmet could be designed with a protrusion of straps or protrusions so it can slot into the armor portion or be strapped to the wearer's head. (May be dangerous, may make the thing qualify as a single Rune Item. Experimentation data required.)
It may or may not be possible for a wearer to wear armor underneath the oversized set (Results pending)
Use of [Forged Limb] may require non-hollow arms and legs, the required extent of which will determine minimum size. i.e. If only the lower leg and forearms (Knee to foot and elbow to hand) need be fully prosthetic, then the estimated x1.5 size projection works. If the entire arm and/or leg sections need be prosthetic, then the "Chair in torso" design will need to be considered. (And the Rule of Form consulted) forcing a minimum size to the Armor based on Leg Length, potentially only the lower leg (Knee and down) need be filled in.

Research hell never ends
At least the final lock is just akazit. We can breeze through that one thanks to our traits. Combine that with simple actions on Akazit turns almost certainly going into odd materials that themselves have had cost reductions added thanks to windsight and give akazit drip on completion. A 6ap full send on akazit part 3 produces 10 progress on akazit by itself, puts 5 simple ap into odd materials. That completes 3 odd materials that each give around 2 akazit progress each which likely insta finished pt3.

As if the Santa comparisons weren't enough, now we're going for Odin as well. Sacrificed an eye, was able to learn the mystery of the runes, old man with a long white beard, learned unmanly/undwarflike arts such as the Elvish tongue in order to pursue magic more, etc.
hmmm wonder if we planted a iron wood sapling on top of the rhuniversity would it grow into a giant magic tree from all the ambient magic flowing into it? maybe craft a pair of raven gronti's to let us see through them? maybe also a magical staff spear too while we are at it to poke at things that look like they might magically blow up? :V

I have to admit I really don't like how KArstah is doing all the design work for runic items, and Snorri is just executing her designs.

That feels thematically wrong for how a master-heir relationship should work

Welp, it's done now. We've found the holy grail of runesmithing. Now we just need to tell everyone else while minimizing the massive shit storm that will cause. Oh yeah, and make sure that everyone believes us. Because dwarfs have claimed to have found a way to solve it before and all were made fools.

best way to show the proof? craft something in front of them that would normally be impossible?
