On Thread Etiquette:

I'm not going to weigh in on the logic of either side's arguments, but I will ask that everyone read over what they write and really consider if the words they used are polite and won't be inflammatory intentionally or not. You cant account for people's tolerances perfectly but at least try to say your piece without saying things that can be easily construed as overly dismissive of the other side of the argument, thank you.

Please endeavour to be cordial. :^)

Some might be from events or accomplishments. Like Snorri picking up Productivity due to his drunken oath. But Student of the Odd though... that's definitely something that came from his master (I mean, it references his master) so... I dunno. Maybe the Apprentices will pick up "Student of the Industrious" or something like that, who knows?
The student perk comes after they are ordained as masters by their teacher.
Nope, Fjolla's two specialties were both talisman so the pool would have had 2 talisman runes.

EDIT: more clearly put
so the first specialty would be exceptional level regardless and from yourself the next 2 would have been from the general pool, but since you had your first two apprentices help, one of those two rolls was converted from the general pool to the apprentice pool. Which is very specialty your apprentices have, and since Fjolla's specialties are technically talismanic twice over. The total apprentice pool would be talismanic x2, weapon and engineering

Huh, makes sense.

What about the "Odd and Esoteric Runes" one though? Is there a way for them to pick that one up? Or Productivity or Student of the Odd?

Wait actually thinking about it... I wonder if "Odd and Esoteric" is in the journeyman roll table of possible specialties? Well, Journeyman or above, maybe.

Maybe change the trait for them to legacy of the odd. and give them the trait student of productivity

Snerra would get three specialties, 1st was exceptional next two are normal. One was normal pool the other was turned into apprentice pool, so talisman, talisman, weapon and engineering.

The student perk comes after they are ordained as masters by their teacher.

I'm not sure what you mean then since you're talking about Snerra in the first quote? Are you saying that Snerra rolled on Snorri's pool of two, talisman and engineering, and then on the general pool of talisman, engineerting, weapon, banner, and armor? Or not?

When she(Snerra) rolled for the trait drawn from the apprentice pool those were the possibilities is what he's saying.

It would be kind of interesting if apprentices inherit some personal trait of their masters when they hit journeyman. Or some variant there of.

In our case they've been hanging around Snorri for 120 years. If they didn't pick up some form of productivity trait or some weird luck with an ore type or something like that I don't think they ever will.

Sure, Snorri as a Runelord probably understands not to put apprentices/journeyman/rune masters on his productivity level, but ones he's personally trained? I could see them having some kind of minor boost if only because of Snorri grumbling about how slow they were over 120 years.

Young Dwarves would go a very far way to getting approval from Elders, and if it requires them stepping up and kicking their productivity into high gear? I can see it.

We clearly have from Yorri, with his pocket-everything. And the troll delicacies.

And that's great, I'm just more curious what DolgI, Fjolla and Snerra would inherit from Snorri. He does have 3 traits that they could inherit. Student of the Odd, Productivity Like No Other and Mind For Metal would all be good traits for them to start out with, plus whatever they pick up on their journey.

next thing you know our apprentices will give their apprentices a love for orc flesh or something if they leave us and the hold

I just finished reading this quest, and I am loving it.
*waves*

Hiiiiiii! Nice to see ya!

I don't want to think about that.

They'll get their Student of the Odd, Productivity traits once they get ordained as masters.

They already have the makings of a Productivity trait at least, considering how they've been cranking out buttloads of runic warmachines and runic mining gear. Odd is harder to see, apprentices aren't supposed to innovate before they got the basics down

Though in a narrative sense, I can see these two being far more willing (compared to most Runesmiths) to work as a team and/or bounce ideas off each other.

They've been roommates since they were basically dwarf highschoolers and don't hate eachother so I could see it.

Well, that and Dolgi always seemed to go to Fjolla for dating advice. Unless something goes horribly wrong they're going to be friends for a long long while. Up until they fight over which rune types are better. Talismans or engineering runes.

Nope. Time of Woes is the earliest date I could find for their arrival when they migrated westward. Unless someone can point me to sources of Greenskins near and around the dwarf kingdoms before that time.
Nope. Checked myself and it seems that when the Slann 'fixed' the mountains, all the damage caused the Orcs to head west. Running over the humans they then ran into the dwarfs and over a thousand years of war followed.

Orks were attacking Nehekhara around -2,500 I.C during the time of Settra, so they were probably attacking Karak Azul and other southern Holds too.
