On Thread Etiquette:

I'm not going to weigh in on the logic of either side's arguments, but I will ask that everyone read over what they write and really consider if the words they used are polite and won't be inflammatory intentionally or not. You cant account for people's tolerances perfectly but at least try to say your piece without saying things that can be easily construed as overly dismissive of the other side of the argument, thank you.

Please endeavour to be cordial. :^)

Update on the Thunder Caller Gronti idea with these new materials and new thoughts;

-The Thunder Caller-
Master Rune of Waking(Dragon Ogre Shaggoth Heart)
Rune of Lightning(Dragon Ogre Blood)
Rune of Empowerment

-Hammer
Master Rune of Thunderbolts(Shaggoth Blood)
Rune of Grungni(Oathgold)
Rune of Fury

-Talisman
Master Rune of Grungni
Rune of Lightning(Dragon Ogre Blood)
Rune of Spelleating(Dragon Ogre Blood)

A 12 meter tall Gronti made entirely of Lodesteel. Being made completely of Lodesteel, a magnetic material, should enhance its electrical abilities.

The Hammer would have a shaft of Dronwut and be littered with Dronrils as decoration.

The Talisman should be perfect for copying the Lightning absorption of Dragon Ogres. The MGrungni's ability to absorb and repurpose magic, the Rune of Lightning giving direction on what to absorb, and the Rune of Spelleating to bring it together. Also the Rune of Spelleating we used when we finished our workshop in Turn 5 needed Dragons Blood so I figure Dragon Ogres Blood would be a good way to change the rune for the Talismans intended purpose. The primary materials being Dronwut, Dronril, and Lodesteel
Edit: Made some additions to the Talisman.

Now, where is it?

(Roll, Yorri Places: 93 -10[Incursion] +10[Seclusion] =93)

Ah, there they were.
Ack. If we could have applied a +10 omake bonus to this roll, then... ack, what could have been. :V ><
However many actions required are left, wrapping up our "Odd Place" action should be a priority next turn. If we can complete it then we may get a sort of "Master of the Odd" trait.
Journeyman of the Odd, perhaps?

I feel like we'd either not be a Master of the Odd until we've either researched all the results of that place (well okay, that might be Grandmaster of the Odd perhaps), or have gone on our own roadtrips and found our own set of 10 Cool Places. ... Speaking of which, I want to do that.

That is. After we've cleared out all 10 Odd Places? I want to have a "Explore and Journey" standing action for us to take. So that we can find more Places, Snorri Odd Places, rather than Yorri Places! We can either leave them for our students, or use them ourselves, or something.

You're assuming that Yorri hasn't already been everywhere in existence. Joll had to learn his teleportation from somewhere!

The world isn't that big. Not many more places left unless we come up with a much faster way to travel.

Idea! Let's donate the Dronwut area to the Brana instead. Perhaps the Sky King's ilk would find inspiration with all the wood and gems in there!

I strongly suspect that Yorri's master was Durin the lost. Alric knows him personally. Yorri is old as hell. Yorri somehow feels responsible for what happened, but Alric disagrees with him.

Well we found the thunder equivalent to Hearthstones! Nifty!

Also those trees are bullshit and I'm already planning axes that might use them as hafts.
Those trees lay golden eggs. Why the hell would you cut any of them down, let alone for something as mundane as hafts? Their lightning-conducting properties make them bad as hafts, since they conduct the electricity down into the wielder!

If we're going to do anything with them besides collecting samples and the thunderstones, it's to try to plant some of them at the peak of Kraka Drak, sustaining them with lightning via Brana stormcallers and the King of the Skies.

Speaking of which: I hadn't even realized it, but the Brana and Golden Age dwarves are a match made in heaven. Pure Gromril armor with Master Rune combos designed specifically for their temperaments and tactics? Flying, regenerating, magic-wielding monstrous cavalry? Massive fire support from crossbows, bolt-throwers, grudgethrowers, and a solid line of tough-as-nails heavy infantry to fall back to, plus strong anti-magic support? Flying recon/scouting and sneaky ground-based rangers for scouting and harrying?

It's a shame there aren't any Lizardmen anywhere near the Karaz Ankor (except for Karak Zorn...which, come to think of it, why haven't there been encounters with Lizardmen from Zornites?). Not only would they make good allies with each other, they'd complement each others' strengths as well.

Who was Durin the Lost, and what happened with him?

Who was Durin the Lost, and what happened with him?
Durin the Lost was Thungi's eldest son and nobody knows what happened to him. Theory is that whatever made him Lost, Yorri was involved and the shame from it is what caused him to abandon his name, destroy his history and do the things he do. In canon times he'd probably have gone Slayer, but that instituation doesn't exist yet.

i have two questions first is why didn't we get an epic deed or legendary deed for building an entire city? second is grimmir a ginger ?

personally I think Durin is Yorri him self . I mean when they talked it felt more as equals then an elder and a junior almost like estranged brothers . Alric may have had orders from Thungi his father to request Yorri to come to the conclave , if it were any one else they would be obliged to fallow Alric let alone Thungi himself but as his son he can defy him . I think there was an event where he lost his family and apprentices in the past that made him feel unworthy .

Well the Karak hasn't actually been built yet, we just have all the material and laborers of varying skills and specialties prepared so that once the destination is set, there will be no cutting corners or needless austerity and the work can begin immediately.

Unlikely. I doubt that could be covered up. The whole talking thing can easily be understood by the fact that he was his older brothers student. He could easily be Alric's elder in terms of time studying, even if Alric has since surpassed him. Which can lead to speaking as equalsish.

The world isn't that big. Not many more places left unless we come up with a much faster way to travel.

Snorri runed the Brana Fortress and crafted a Tier 4 armor for the Brana King. Plus the Brana King just declared Snorri's disciple an eternal friend to the entire Brana race.

If Snorri asks politely, I'm pretty sure the Brana would let Snorri hitch a ride on one of them.

In addition / Alternatively, we could always recruit Nightfeather into our Hearthguard and ask him to give us rides to new places.

There's tons of places. IIRC the world is bigger than normal earth, even.

There's probably tons of places left in Norsca alone, much less near Norsca. Not to mention that, being Dwarfs... we could always dig down. Explore the depths below Kraka Drakk, where the Elder Wyrm recently came from.

Heck, with the Chaos Incursion, there could now be new places and wonders to find! The waterfall of magic might have made as many new wonders as it affected old wonders.

And, aside from digging, we could also explore with the help of the Branakroki, too. Or just have Brana explorers. Hmm...

We do big production memes so much it's no longer note worthy/already is a part of the Snorri Mythos. We basically already got trait from similar events.

First rule of Karak Zorn: Do Not talk about the Lizard Men. As for making good allies, I am unsure. The Lizardmen don't really do treaties like other races do.

Yes, yes they are.

Not exactly? With Snorri's armor of "endless energy and sustenance", he really could just go wander around places for years on end. The issue is that there are simply better things he could do with his time. Master Yorri is an exception because he prefers to be a wanderer anyway, rather than setting up shop in a Karak of choice and staying there unless something serious compels him to move. Otherwise, exploring is something ordinary dwarves could do.

that still doesn't explain his pull to wipe out his entire history from all ledgers in the empire. Refuse both Alric and Thungi himself .and finally how Snorri his apprentice of 20 became a rune lord in the age of 200sh years , and understand runes made by the ancestors and the ??? modifier we get when meeting them .

@soulcake : Are we ever going to get an explanation for Snorri's 20 year apprenticeship? That is quicker than apprentices are allowed to make their first rune. Maybe Yori has some sort of weird time runes that he hasn't considered Snorri worthy of yet? Or maybe Snorri just has a habit of downplaying the fact that he is a prodigy among prodigies.

first, I love how Igna is so jaded to Snorri's crazy production speed and willingness to throw stupid amounts of things to help others.
I feel sorry for any King he deals with because they can never pay him back, he just keeps collecting more favors.

For the new research mats, maybe we should finish the potatoes silver wood, and fire stones first. We do use the last 2 a lot already and they aren't hard to study, though I wouldn't say no to the chain

So, I think we need to add a coat of Gromil or Adamant to the outside to make it more durable, or add an armor. Also any metal would make a good conductor for electricity

The Elder's an enigma wrapped in a mystery and one I've long since stopped trying to seriously decipher his intent."
Neither you or anyone weaving a Fate can decipher his intent, given it consists of Troll jerky and the Quest voters.
You hope the goats are doing well, you did carve out a nice little creche for them into the mountainside, but if you could feel the storm from in here well...
Always interesting to see Dwarfs doing little masonry. I read the "little creche" as a "giant cave".

Maybe a runned flying sled pulled by 13 brana hearthwardens?:whistle::whistle:
The frontrunner might have been slightly ostracized due to being born/hatched in tune with Aqshy rather than Azyr and called/named red-beak.
We did just find magical wood in tune with the weather - and thus skies - wind...
Add some hearthstones for warmth while traveling...

I'd make some suitably dwarfy Rudolf the Red-Nosed Reindeer lyrics, but I can't think of any.

Poor attempt, simple replacements, I'm afraid:

You know Dasher and Dancer and Prancer and Vixen
Comet and Nightfeather and Donner and Blitzen
But do you recall
The most famous brana of all?
Hroudi the Red-Beaked Brana
Had a very shiny beak
And if you ever saw it
You would even say it glows
All of the other brana
Used to laugh and call him names
They never let poor Hroudi
Join in any brana games
Then one foggy Keg End
Clausson came to say
"Hroudi, with your beak so bright
Won't you guide my sleigh tonight?"
Then how the brana loved him
As they shouted out with glee
"Hroudi the Red-Beaked Brana
You'll go down in history"
Hroudi the Red-Beaked Brana
Had a very shiny beak
And if you ever saw it
You would even say it glows

Now we just have to find a way for Snorri to build a Rocket-Powered Mechanical Sleigh that also has a cannon that can shoot out presents at mach speed! :V
