On Thread Etiquette:

I'm not going to weigh in on the logic of either side's arguments, but I will ask that everyone read over what they write and really consider if the words they used are polite and won't be inflammatory intentionally or not. You cant account for people's tolerances perfectly but at least try to say your piece without saying things that can be easily construed as overly dismissive of the other side of the argument, thank you.

Please endeavour to be cordial. :^)

-- Perception [Engineering]: Crew are more aware of their surroundings, Cost: 2 points
-- Quick wits [Engineering]: Crew have higher reaction speeds, Cost: 2 points
Can we please pick up these two? I was pretty hyped about these two when they previously first showed up, and sad at missing out on them.

Being able to combine Quick Wits, Perception, and Accuracy feels like a combo. Or MDisguise + Perception + Quick Wits, for sniping and sneakiness. Or Quick Wits, Reloading, and Waking. (And combo it with a talisman of Silence/Lighstep, and a Traversal Cloak, and the Rangers would probably absolutely love it.)

And they're simple Runes, too, not Master Runes which means we may place them anywhere. We're not limited to just putting them on Engineering Warmachines!

Simple Runes are more useable than Master Runes. Because of the Rule of Pride, and because of being able to be put anywhere. They're handy that way; great for breadth of experimentation and discovery and playing around with.

-- The Readings and Insights of the Winde of Metal/Order/Chamon by Avalrith of the House of Serantor, most esteemed Maige of the Kingdom of Saphery, Cost: 2 points
-- In Progress Book Translations, Cost: 2 points per book, delivered when complete(Currently: Tomes on Azyr, Aqshy, Hysh, and Understanding Elementales/Constructs)
-- Right to buy or trade for all future translations, Cost: 8 points, -1 Hesitance
Hmm. So, Understanding Elementales/Constructs sounds very very good and useful. It's definitely on my want-to-buy list, and sadly the plan in 2nd place doesn't get it.

Rating the other books, I would put Aqshy and Azyr in place number 2, actually. Why?

Because Fire is Fire, super useful and relevant to forging and smithing. But why Azyr? Why, because it's the Wind of the King of the Sky and his Griffons, of course.

However, a secondary reason to get Aqshy and Azyr is because of Gazul's visions -- which were about Fate tying people, and the use of Fire (and Cutting) to free people.

Hysh, Light, would also be a good book to get. But while Hysh is the ultimate "Screw Dhar and Daemons and Undead, seriously" Wind of Magic, it's not as much of a personal and immediate connection as Chamon (Metal) and Aqshy (Fire) are, I believe. And Elementales/Constructs is of obvious relevance, given our interest in Gronti, of course. Though... I guess Hysh might have insights into the process of purification... because Hysh purifies things. Darn it. Now I'm back to wanting literally all of the to-be-translated books... Greedy, greedy.

EDIT:

[X] Plan Almost Full Throttle

Voting for this plan in the end. The idea being simple -- we simply check up on the other translated books later on. Basically, we leave some plot for the future! We leave a plot thread hanging, to pick up at a later time. :)

I'll think of it as a reason to check in again, at that later time.

Looks like Rune of perception might not make it for the second time :/.

I thought we could try putting that on a talisman with whatever rune we make from Ties.

Something to get a feel for someone's loyalties would be pretty cool...

Karak/Kraka Krum "The Drumming Deep Hold": Standing 9, Favours 0
- Standing 5, Delving Deep: Krum MIners added to potential recruitment pool.
Since we're at Standing 9 for it, and it's a place rather than a Runelord, does that mean it should have a Standing 7 bonus like the other Karaks do?
"Then you have my oath, Grimvala," You say, voice cutting through the noise,"That I will do all in my power to aid in the building of your new Karak."
Missing a space in between the comma and the quote mark.

I just noticed Yorri's request on the request informational threadmark. Any interest in doing that while we still have apprentices?

We still have our apprentice action next turn, but I'd like to put them on helping the hold, if we put two in there we can complete the hold in 1 turn with 1 overflow and it seems like good experience for them. Do we still have apprentice actions the turn after next? If not would it be unethical to keep them an extra turn just to do the request?

I really want to do the Valaya request for the standing but I also really want to spend those actions on research. Priorities are hard. Edit: Thinking about it some more if we do accept this we should finish researching hearthstones and the basket Valaya gave us before making the armour as it could unlock relevant runes and increase the quality of the finished product.

You know, we just saw Gazul's views on the "strings of Fate" due to that vision.

I had a thought, that maybe the reason we got all that we did (rune, sword glimpse, lamp) was due to Prosthesis. If you think about it, having a limb be cut off is basically the material world's version of Fate controling your future (something that isn't from birth at least). And what Prosthesis does is it replaces a lost limb with a new one, basically denying said person's "fate" to continue their lives as "leser" than before.

"Remember this day lad. Not the saga, nor the glory that comes from it, but the feeling of flesh failing and armour breaking. Of spending every last piece of yourself and then spending beyond even that. Of using nothing but your Will to keep going, because the alternative means all you care about crumbles around you," he says, gaze inscrutable.
We are only as bound as we wish to be. With enough Will, with enough effort, one can break the Yoke of Destiny, the Ties of Fate, and deny what was meant to be.

Well, we can certainly say that the Ancestor's messages to Snorri are remaining on point. The Will to keep going and the Will to deny what was meant to be.

Hello, new quester here and I have some questions that were probably discussed at some point but I don't know where/when.

1) Why did you keep the brotherhoods favour instead of spending it? I found a discussion relating to the prismatic dragonblood but none regarding runemetal.

2) Can we still trade adamant for brotherhood favour? If yes, at what ratio?

3) What is the minimum roll required for apprentices to not die during their journeyman adventures? Can we increase their roll bonus by retaining them for x turns?

Azamak Agrar is go?

[X] Plan Unga Bunga Full Throttle

I desire Many B o o k.

In all seriousness - getting all of the books is our biggest priority here. Actually knowing about the Winds of Magic and how they operate should be able to help us do away with Durin's Consternation once and for all, which would, in my opinion, be Snorri's single greatest contribution to runelore so far.

I have a proposition for you. Send me twenty axes for each apprentice you have, each set made by their little hands. I need to see if they're of any use and make sure that you haven't been slacking in your teaching duties, what with all the fanciful expeditions into tainted hell holes full of terror and sorrow! Harrumph!
I love that Yorri literally wrote "Harumph" in his letter.
[ ] [Difficult] A Princely Wedding Gift Pt.1: [Cost: 1 action] Due end of Turn 36. If a rune you want requires special ingredients that you don't have access to I will alert you. Apply optional Rune Ingredients here. Gain 100 Favour with Kraka Ravnsvake. Snorri thinks another patron might be found by end of turn 34. King Villi has come to you asking if you would make a wedding gift that he could offer Prince Gimli on the day he weds the King's daughter. King Villi trusts that your relationship with Clan Ironarm is such that you know what to best make for them, but he would prefer something that Gimli will carry with him when he eventually takes up the panoply of his father and grandfather as their equipment has become the royal arms of Kraka Drakk's monarch and heir. In other words, anything but a suit of [Armour] or a [Banner] is preferable.
- [ ] Accept
Thinking about it Bakaz a Branakroki could work for this comission. I'd rather Snorri have it but it would serve as a powerful weapon for Gimli as well as symbolise Kraka Drakk's relationship with the Branakroki.
