But that's exactly what I said with that quote?

*looks at it again*

I derp grammer, I guess.

Better, now?

However, the point remains: There's a perilous gap between Mami understanding and feeling that she doesn't need our approval, and her hearing that Sabrina is unhappy with how's she's been.

Imagine you're Mami, and you're hearing Sabrina has been unhappy about your need to depend on her and wishing you could be better. And you want to do everything to make Sabrina not leave you, so you try your best to give the appearance of that.

And that line of thought is alarming to me.

*runs hand down face*

Look, I'll educate you later. I'd say tomorrow, but I probably have another godforsaken twelve hour day tomorrow.

My life right now is a duality of denial and work. It's not pleasant and it's not your fault.

Well. Have some luck, then!

(And yeah, I know it is less of a counterpoint and more of a feeling to push over. @TheEyes or @Sailor Midgard could have a go at showing why it is wrong if you're unable.)

As long as Sayaka's got a clear seed handy, she should be able to maintain a copied power safely even if Sabrina isn't there.

Kyuoko: Probably can't copy?
I actually don't see any reason why she couldn't copy Phantasmo Rosso. The only thing keeping Kyouko from using it is a psychological block that Sayaka doesn't have. It's basically the inverse of when she copies Mami's power.

Of course, Kyouko might not react well to it, but that's a different issue.

Oriko: HAHAHA.

Kirika: HAHAHA2.
Again, I don't know of any reason why it wouldn't be possible to copy either of their powers. Although it might be that if Sayaka tried to copy Oriko's precog, she wouldn't be able to comprehend the input or something.

Yuma: Canon Seyiku back online! :V
I actually think this is one of the best options, and even suggested a while back that it should be Sayaka's loadout for Walpurgisnacht. Healing is an extremely useful and rare power that would be good to have access to, but we don't want to take a kid like Yuma into dangerous situations (and Kyouko wouldn't stand for it).

We believe we've seen things that indicate she does, but we can just ask Madoka/Sayaka/Hitomi in private if that's a concern.

Moral JUSTICE reasons.

Not if she goes to sleep, though. That's unsafe.

Guys.

What's the chance we're gaslighting ourselves into thinking Mami returns our affections?
I think we've brought up a few times the possibility Mami&Brina end up BFFs.

Even the idea Brina and Mami could end up Heterosexual Life Partners but everybody else is SURE they're a couple:
I don't know them, but we're not allowed to not being forced to stay with Mami forever because nobody ever dares try to make advances on either Mami on Sabrina because it's so obvious they're together, ain't that right?

Mami and Sabrina spend countless nights complaining about people thinking they're a couple when they're just friends.

"... and I saw him looking like he really wanted to ask, but he just looked at you and I tried to tell him we're just friends, but he just went away..."

"Like all the others."

"Exactly."

"Sucks."

"By the way, you're hogging the blanket."

"Sorry, can you move a little-"

"Sure."

"... Maybe we should get a bigger bed."

"Sounds good."

The next day, the White Ribbon fanclub spots them buying a king sized bed.

And the shippers rejoiced.

It's definitely possible. Yes, she's very affectionate toward Sabrina, but it's not necessarily romantic in nature. As I understand it, it's not unusual in Japanese culture for a girl Mami's age to have an S-class relationship. I don't think that's the case, but that might just be the yuri fan in me interpreting things the way I want them to be instead of the way they are.

It's one of the reasons why we feel the need to tread carefully on the matter.

We can also be threatened by anyone who can pull off a sneak attack. Such as teleporters. Or invisible girls. Or illusionists. Or that precog who blew us up. Or her antimagic waifu who can just shut down our griefstorm. Or anyone with a ranged weapon who sees us before we identify them as hostile. Or anyone with a melee weapon who we don't identify as a hostile soon enough. Or Mami, who's developed fucking ribbons into guns and is currently working on wings and autonomous bodies, just in case anyone got the idea that it was easy to write off certain powersets as harmless.

People who assume their superpower makes them invincible tend to find themselves coughing up blood around the words "This cannot be!"

Firn has stated that Sabrina can detect the University Groups magical girl who can go invisible. Illusionists as well can probably be detected through Sabrina's grief sense.

The problem inherent was that they burned down her house and she might react negatively to their presence just a bit.

Thaaaat's getting paranoid. And not what gaslighting means.

It's not exactly subtle. I mean, there's "clingy and intimate", then there's "gets jealous when we make a joke about being someone else's wife". Not to mention that pretty much everyone else sees it in quest, which is the GM's way of giving us a hint, I'd wager. (Not that I think it needs a hint Mami has hidden romantic feelings for her in the same sense that Homura's secretly gay)

Not to mention, the fact that in Japan an "S-class relationship" is thought to be immature and "only a phase" does not endear the term to me.

I'm not a huge fan of the idea either, since I think it's often used as a convenient excuse for a deeply homophobic society to deny the validity of homosexual relationships. But it is a part of the culture that Mami was raised in, so she might be assuming that's what she has with Sabrina, although it's uncertain whether it's Sabrina's feelings or her own that she would be trying to hide from in that case.

Like I said, I don't think that's the case, but I can't prove it.

You know, for all the potential Sayaka's power copying seemingly's got, there's not that many powers around for her to copy, despite the amount of powerful meguca in the area.

Mami: Copied, but power not very strong without a lot of practice.

Sabrina: Can't copy due to [REDACTED].

Homura: Can't copy due to personal issues.

Kyuoko: Probably can't copy?

Oriko: HAHAHA.

Kirika: HAHAHA2.

Yuma: Canon Seyiku back online! :V
Masami and Hiroko?
-[x] Heh. Maybe 'Finale' should be an attack that can combine with Tiro Finale. Combination attacks would be so cool.
Could we make a Tiro-sized accelerator?
Anyway, Sayaka not copying your power should be fine. Consider coming anyway?
Am I the only one who thinks that "should be fine" makes Sabrina sound kind of reluctant to let Homura not have her power copied?

...in which case what you mean is that you think Mami is crushing on her, but thinks it's just a phase she'll grow out of? In which case she'd still return her feelings anyway, so I don't really know what you're trying to say here.

[Q] Tell Mami you really like Homura's hair. It's like super smooth and you think it's magic.
-[Q] Wait and see if Mami tries to let her hair down for the picnic.

Flawless plan to see if Mami likes likes Brina. :V

So far, perhaps.

But we do change and reconsider our language towards more assertive of her rights with Mami; could do same as well with Homura.

Though, ah, the alternative I initially put up didn't exactly keep this in mind, rather going for telling her we sympathize with her a bit. What would you suggest?
That is really not how gaslighting works.
GM says things, thread panics :p

You know what we need? We need to make that Grief videogame about megucas.

But it's not about the game this time, no.

But the loading icons, the screen transitions... it should be Mami!

What better way for Mami to know how much Brina thinks of her than to have her present all thorough the whole thing?

Game intro: A hectic meguca fight that gets ended with 'TIRO FINALE!' and blast, main menu.

Main Screen background:

Cursor icon: Chibi Mami.

Loading screen: Mami drinking tea while giving the player some advice.

Commentator for the fights: Mami!

Rewards if you beat the whole game: A picture of Mami saying 'Good Job!' :V :V :V
