I mean, we could probably use the 'Witchy Enchantment Bracelet -> Barely detectable enchantments -> ALL the protective enchantments we can think of' to load ourselves with as many protections as we can, and we still wouldn't be able to account for everything.

Like, Kirika powers herself up with several Anti Magic enchantments fueled by an Empty Seed, or something, she'd still be able to wreck us.

It depends on how forewarned Sabrina is.
Eh, learning about the opponent's powerset midcombat is part of being skillful. Saying 'if X is forewarned' is cheating. :p

Incidentally, Mami's pretty much 'unstoppable unless surprised/run out of Grief cleanses'. Mami and Sabrina together are still gankable.

I'd give Kagari Hinata better then decent odds in a straight up confrontation so long as she was forewarned about us. High power mindgucas without morals are no fucking joke.
Fuckin hell suzune magica I only just looked her up she is OP as hell. How come she hasn't come up before as a threat? Is she dead?
That's an assumption I'd have to disagree with.
Well, that was without the assumption of crazy bullshit mindgucas.
This. Mind control, anything with >100 m range that can gemsnipe, matter displacing teleportation, Imp style stealth... we're powerful, but sufficiently esoteric attacks from surprise can easily take us down, and with the global population as it is, assuming that Homura is the only one with the right flavour of bullshit is unwise to the extreme.
Well a lot of those fall under "sneak attack" which I agree could kill us, much like the superman analogy that if you could just get the drop on him and stab him with some kryptonite you'd win. I suppose I should clarify "straight up fight" in which a gem snipe wouldn't work (Our grief shields are bullshit). Telefrag would also be bullshit, though I'd be interested in what their power limiter would be at that point, cus Sakura has the long charge time for long distance so I'd wonder what a telefrag would need as a drawback, and imp stealth in a straight up fight would be... dubious.

The "Sabs is unassailable" thing relies on Sabrina being willing to kill, at which point everything within 100m of her becomes chunky salsa because our powers are bullshit.

She hasn't come up on the radar because in Suzune canon she had nothing to do with Mitakihara. We have absolutely no reason to believe she's currently dead or otherwise neutralized, though - she should be on the list of currently active threats in Japan until proven otherwise.

Clearly anything can take us by surprise, up to and including a drunk hobo with a blunt knife. That was never in discussion.

We were discussing ways to use our laser powers in combat, and my point merely was that our optimal combat strategy always has been to torn asunder everything within our radius with grief blades.

Also, who's in to test multi-spectrum googles, with zoom capabilities?

People who assume their superpower makes them invincible tend to find themselves coughing up blood around the words "This cannot be!"
That usually happens in a straight up confrontation, since a good sneak attack wouldn't leave you alive to say it.

Hm... do you suppose we could witch grief up a teleportation proof sphere? Too bad we'd never be able to test it.

"Hey Sakura do you wanna help me test if I can make a teleport proof shield-"
*glares*
"Right right, fuck me, I'll just go now."

Easy: Put a tiny grief sphere every couple centimeters.

No-displacement teleportation= Area occupied.
Exchanging teleportation= Trapped magical girl.

Whoever teleports as an offensive technique would pretty much have to teleport at exactly our possition, and if we are facing a foe capable of doing that regardless of distance and line of sight, then we already lost.

Though I feel the power of a fully uninhibited Sabrina should not be understated- fill the area within 100m with grief (not hard- we carry silly amounts of the stuff and grief seeds as well) and then turn it all into little swirling blades all while in a mobile oppression fortress and we're *very* hard to hurt. Then turn the spheres on the outer edge into laser conduits-

Hell, if we can make a lot of lasers (We possibly could, but not currently sure how limited our ability to do that would be) we could level a few city blocks all while unassailable to most things.

we already have a consensus kill-on-sight decision

I'll re-iterate my reasoning here, on why we shouldn't just gem her.

A. She's been shown to pull Aizen style illusions on meguca with extrasensory abilities - ergo, allowing her to be active near us even momentarily is one of the single worst things we could do, potentially being a straight up loss condition.

B. The absolute safest way of dealing with her is through timestop. We currently are unable to interact with soul gems in timestop without drawing the puella in question into timestop - see Ono. Having us and Homura within Kagari's manipulation range while she's able to act is absolutely fucking terrifying.

C.
She's an unrepentant serial murderer who wished to torture another girl to death, and is willing to kill anyone in the way of that goal, up to and including her own sister. Because that is what she wished for, even her witch keeps acting towards that goal. This has two consequences:

1. Because she's shown that even her witch still acts towards her goals, there's a real risk that gemming her wouldn't be enough to stop her from using her power.

2. Any rehabilitation would have to overcome her natural sociopathy and her very wish before it could get anywhere. It's far more likely that even if we managed to gem her, at massive risk to ourselves, we'd never, ever, re-embody her anyway.

To be entirely fair here, almost all of the above is precluded by the fact that the first thing she did with her magic was lobotomize herself so she wouldn't get off-track. A soulguca'd Kagari would probably be much more reasonable.

Not that I'm advocating for such, but my main concern with "KILL ON SIDE SPLODE THAT BITCH'S GEM" is what if she uses her mindfuckery to make us think we gemsploded her...and then we wake up and it was actually Homura's gem or something?

Allow me to be the devil's advocate, just this one time.

Are we sure we are dealing with the same person? Do we have a sensible, safe-ish way to ensure we are dealing with the same person?

We could look for evidence in the form of Suzune's murder victims being dead, I suppose - it wouldn't be conclusive, but it would certainly be suggestive if the girls Kagari mind whammied Suzune to kill "just happened" to also be dead in this timeline.

Other then that, there's Oriko, and...that's about it, really - there isn't much we can do from timestop to examine her character or her state of mind, unless we're lucky enough to catch her in the middle of obvious villainy.

The longer we leave her active, the bigger the risk of mindfuck is. Going for the disable instead of the kill increases the time she will be active. I believe that minimizing the chances of mindfuck in the first place is a better plan then constraining all future actions from that point forward to minimize negative consequences if we were mindfucked.

No it doesn't. Form grief sphere around Soul Gem while in Time Stop. Pull away as fast as possible, out of her range of activity. Boom. Done deal.

And there's no evidence to suggest she knows how to be conscious as a Soul Gem and even if there was, we could just program her Grief Sphere container to keep purifying her at all times while acting as an Interdiction Field for her magic. Bada bing bada boom.

Other then that, there's Oriko
I believe this is our best option. We must remember to ask her about this Suzune gal, if she is alive by then.

We can always use anti-magic stones, to see is she is salvageable. But only if she isn't a first-contact=we die scenario.

I think the optimal Kill-squadron should be composed of us, Homura and Kirika.

This brings her into time stop. See our encounter with Ono. Admittedly, she won't be active for very long before being gemmed, but it's still a greater risk then I'd prefer.
Assuming we can touch her gem and just her gem, it wouldn't-- we have proof from the Oriko fight that holding a gem in timestop doesn't bring the person's body into timestop too.

I believe this is our best option.

Our best option is to ask about Tsubaki Mikoto. She's by all accounts a pleasant and well intentioned adult(!) puella magi, who's scheduled to witch out due to a grief seed shortage.

If she's alive, we can help her with her grief issue and she can help us by being a 20+ year old who knows about the magic side. If she isn't alive, Kagari moves from the "hypothetical threat" column to the "priority one deal with it now now now" column.

Bleh, knew I should have just kept my mouth shut.:V

If this is really going to be a problem, I'd rather just have Sabrina tell Mami her feelings. There are probably ways we could it without putting her on the spot or making her feeling obligated to reciprocate. Although, even if their relationship wasn't already an unhealthy mess, I still wouldn't want Sabrina to date her. Or anybody really, until this is all over.

Literally the only person* alive right now with a chance against Sabrina is Homura, since timestop is OP in PVP.

Homura could sure as hell kill her. I don't think she can fight her, however. If Sabrina isn't incapacitated or dead within the first minute of combat, then she'll almost certainly get stomped into the ground.

If we want to maximize our safety, a grief fortress capable of launching laser attacks can be done in a pinch, as would be more exotic battle shapes (concentrating X-ray sources on a 3D point beyond our range, via multiple collimated sources, for example)

Let's take it one step further, and combine all of these things, while also making it the simplest possible shape we can to decrease construction time as much as possible. Here, I already have a concept picture of it:

This brings her into time stop. See our encounter with Ono. Admittedly, she won't be active for very long before being gemmed, but it's still a greater risk then I'd prefer.
Alternative: Accelerate a grief blade as fast as possible from behind, so her time-stop experience consist on her head being sliced in 2. (not the neck, the head). Thoughs have speed and thus need time, our blades are faster than that.
Then we pay someone to check on the gem or something.

Our best option is to ask about Tsubaki Mikoto. She's by all accounts a pleasant and well intentioned adult(!) puella magi, who's scheduled to witch out due to a grief seed shortage.
So, there are 2 avenues of gathering information before termination? I guess that's better than 0.

well really with that fight it's all about when one decides to kill the other and where they both are. Sabrina attacks first while homu is within 100m? She wins. Homu decided to attack first while literally anywhere else? Homu wins. Both decide to within 100m? Quick draw.

Homura's hardly incompetent as a fighter even beyond her timestop. I mean, she'd lose to Mami or Sabrina, but that's more a function of how bullshit we are and how good Mami is then most anything else.

A melee spar would be iffy, but if we allow ranged attacks, she should fucking destroy Sayaka, and I'd give her decent odds against Kyouko, for instance.

Hmm. We're giving Sayaka melee sparring practice, but not all enemies will be so obliging. Training idea: Sayaka vs Homura with a paintball gun, no timestop. Fun for the whole family!

OK... what are the odds of Feathers contacting Kagari and getting her to kill us?

[ ] 'Homura I need a HUGE favor.'
-[ ] 'How do you feel about us going on another shopping trip?'
--[ ] 'Only instead of acquiring things ourselves, we're gonna deprive someone else of something.'
---[ ] '... Her life, that is.'

I like the paintball gun idea so much, I'm including it in my vote.

[x] Squee.
-[x] Glomp both Mamis. Mami? What's the plural? Either way, so cute~.
[x] Reply to Homura.
-[x] Uh, the most adorable thing ever is happening right now. Talk in a minute or so.
[x] Ask Mami all the questions.
-[x] Wow! Does that - can she see through it? How autonomous is it? Is she just concentrating on the outer appearance, or...? How has she done this wonderful thing?
[x] Get back to Homura.
-[x] Sorry about that. Mami showed me how she can use ribbons to make a chibi of herself and it's the cutest thing. Anyway, Sayaka not copying your power should be fine. Consider coming anyway? I'd like it if you and Sayaka got along better, and being present at her training would help with that. It's your call. And if you come relatively soonish, you could catch the tail end of me and Mami's testing.
--[x] Actually, regarding Sayakas training... how good are you with paintball guns? Some ranged combat experience might be helpful for her...
[x] You'll use Mami's name. It is your first laser, so 'First Light' is quite fitting.
-[x] The whole thing needs work before it's ready for prime time also. Shielding issues, dialing in a proper yield, thermal bloom... really, the setup for the attack was more like getting ready to set off a bomb rather than unleashing a directed energy weapon.
-[x] Heh. Maybe 'Finale' should be an attack that can combine with Tiro Finale. Combination attacks would be so cool.
[x] Wait for Homura to get back on attending/not attending before doing 'Good Morning Mitakihara'. You don't want to put her on the spot.

If the prospect of getting to shoot Sayaka with paintball guns doesn't get Homura to show up for her training, nothing will. :V
