Meguca are for saving.

When we run out of meguca to save, we start saving normies.
I will rue the day those 2 goals enter into conflict. Deeply so.

But spekaing of more nice things, I've given a little more though to the combat question.

The only way we are defeating a MG optimized to kill magical girls, or a MG with vast mental/acausal/projection powers is to be preempted and to strike first.

We should learn someday to move without needing a flesh body, and to perceive without needing a flesh body. Those 2 abilities would put us at a melee advantage, more so if the enemy cannot find our gem in time.

Agains mind attack, it would greatly deppend on the nature of our mind, so the first step would be to study that. If we can use our "many-ness" to counteract mind incursions, it would be nice.

As always, our better combat advantage is to know the enemy, because we have no way to avoid, say, an anti-gem no-clipping guided sniping shot from beyond our range.

We have infinite multitasking as long as it involves Grief. Just set up scanning arrays using analogues of the micromechanical camera idea I had until we can see everything. Go full Clairvoyant. Then nobody gets the drop on us.

edit: without social fuckery and outright betrayal, but that's much more difficult to pull off. And if we go full panopticon, completely with brain scanners, even that becomes almost impossible.

No surprise Mamihugs?
On the other hand, we can always do surprise Brinahugs.

Well, actually, it's hard for Mami or anybody to surprise hug Sabrina, since they'd need to be within her sensing range to hug her.

You know, if we make a bajillion eyes out of Grief, and manage to use them effectively... it would suck to ever go back to normal sight. :p

Yup. Ever done a challenge run in a video game where you refuse to use a particularly useful or foundational ability? Feels like that, except you're losing a chunk of brain instead of an arm. Probably even worse than when your cell phone runs out of battery and you lose your calendar and note-taking and RNG and wikipedia.

If our sensing range is greater than the soulgem standard range, then it's not possible to approach us that way.

Sure, but that doesn't mean Mami couldn't get the drop on us if she snuck up behind us while we sensed her gem coming up the school's stairs.
I think we can sense the magic flowing through meguca's bodies and the magic coming from the Soul Gem. We should be able to sense megucas even if they weren't keeping their Soul Gems on their bodies.

If our sensing range is greater than the soulgem standard range, then it's not possible to approach us that way.
Our sensing range is double as long as the Soul Gem's range.

Can I just say how disappointing it is for Sayaka to turn out to be a power copier, only for Sabrina's power to somehow be uncopyable, Homura refusing to allow Sayaka to copy her power, Oriko is losing her power (and Sayaka still doesn't know she burnt down her house), and much of the potency of Mami's power lies in extensive skill and experience/knowledge in turning it into something really powerful? At this rate, just about the only power in Mitakihara she can copy and immediately get good usage out of would be Kirika's.

Madokami knows we don't want her copying Ono's power.

As was foretold in prophecy:

The universe is going to destroy her for this. No happy. Only tears.

P.S.
Madokami knows we don't want her copying Ono's power.

I dunno, hyperelegant blueberry sounds hilarious.

Homura refusing to allow Sayaka to copy her power

As a side note, this is likely temporary. Homura was already willing to consider the idea, and if all goes well and our Sayaka proves herself to be less of a lemming then most Sayakas, Homu's willingness to share will only improve with time.

The issue is lack of trust, and the only way to overcome that is positive interactions that don't end in flames, for both sides. I'm hoping today will actually bear signifigant fruit on that front - between Sayaka learning about what Homu is doing to prep the city for Walpurgisnacht and Homura being the most 'on her side' for the Oriko thing.

Sayaka: I vote we kill Oriko.

Homura: Agree.

Sayaka: *Surprised look at Homura*

Homura: *Surprised look at Sayaka*

Sayaka: Wow, I...

Homura: Maybe we can be...

Sayaka: Friends?

Homura: *Tentative nod*

Mami: ... Are they bonding over killing someone...?

Sabrina: *Sniff* It's so beautiful...

Mami: ...

Y tho. Homu & Koko friends.

Kirika: I vote the blueberry dies.

Sabrina: *Still sniffing* No.

Kirika: And Grumpy too.

Sabrina: *Bops Kirika on the head*

*CRACK*

Sabrina: *Dematerializes warhammer to catch woobly Kirika* Don't worry Best Buddy, nobody's killing anyone.

Kirika: ...rikorikoriko...

Sabrina: Right. Catch! *Throws Kirika*

Oriko: What-

Oriko: *Bowled over falls with down with Kirika on top*

Oriko: Ow...

Sayaka: ... I can't help but feel joy at seeing her in pain.

Homura: *Grabs Sayaka's shoulder* It's normal.

Sayaks: *Nods*

But seriously, this time we get ready to immobilize and possible disarm everyone the second something goes out of control.
