You mean Ino the telepathy girl? God I want her to fight Hazou. Just for the utter shock she would express and to see what the hivemind could accomplish talking to someone new.

@Velorien is the sealing shortlist in my sig a manageable amount for Hazou's discussion with Kagome? Too much? Plenty of room for more?
You should ping @eaglejarl as well, since he'll be writing the actual Kagome scene. (Apologies for lack of actual answer, but I thought this at least would help.)
Okie doke - @eaglejarl, thoughts?

My current pessimistic estimate for MfD is that they're at least that powerful and not the flaming morons they were in canon. We can combat that through creativity and power synergies, but it's still an uphill battle.

I've been assuming the same thing. If we ever meet the Rookie Nine and compete with them in some form, they will turn out to be either ridiculously more powerful than we are or at the same level.

But I wouldn't really worry about them. If you look how our last three missions have gone, they have all ended with the following ninja fights:
  1. Jounin + 3 chuunin
  2. A metric fuckton of giant rats and some mook ninjas
  3. Two jounin at the same time
If the pattern holds, for our next trick, we probably end up fighting an S-class ninja. (EDIT: Or maybe we will turn into a mass fight again, and we end up fighting the whole Konoha Twelve at the same time. So maybe it's okay to worry about the Rookie Nine just a bit?)

I recommend not thinking about it too much while making training and research plans; it makes both Stealth 15 and TacMov 18 seem really depressing.

I kind of feel that we owe it to the rest of the world to get stealth and TacMov up, so we stop patrol murder every time we cross borders. Just want to stop the senseless killing, you know?

I can see that, but at the same time we're trying to break the world, and the only really worldbreaking ability we have access to is sealing (and diplomacy, but that takes a while and is risky without carrying a big stick to back it up with).

E: we can get Hazou to Stealth 12 if we're willing to take Capacity 8 instead of 9. For Noburi we could do @Twofold's 8/9 medical progression now and then come back to it later when we've got a little more XP, and spend the rest of that XP on making Noburi a little better rounded out. Keiko can probably be convinced to up stealth at this point given what just happened.

Not sure why we spending so little on stealth when we got a crossing to make. Do you want us to get killed?

We aren't going to be able to train before the crossing, dude.

Do we have to cross immediately? Why not spend some time hunkering down somewhere out of the way to rest and recuperate?

It would give time for Noburi to recharge, Keiko to mess around with her summons and/or check on Pandaa to debrief him, Hazou and Kagome could do base defense as well as sealing theory-crafting, Akane could get started on some blueprints for a Zeppelin and/or hot air balloon prototype, and Mari can of course be on guard duty as the party member with the best awareness.

Because we're in Fire and not terribly far from a border zone that we recently set ablaze, mostly. And if we're going to run far away to get out of the area being investigated, may as well run to a safer area. I imagine Hazou suggesting the party recuperate inside of Fire will be met with one of Mari's trademark looks of pity and a hair-ruffle.

Fire is not a good place to rest tho. Once pursuit figures out we set a bunch of steaks on fire they'll double down on catching us. If we were in a better shape I might've suggested take two at swamp time. Alas.

Pandaa costs 10 cp so doable.

We have to risk resting that night. Then we can start running in the morning when we're all more rested.

@Kiba yeah we can afford Pandaa, summoning him for debrief and digging/scouting is in the current plan, I'll go link it in a second

E: Here it is. Also implemented part of @Jello_Raptor's camping suggestions.
Speaking of voting -

[X] Action Plan: Breathe, Drink, Flee
Goals
  1. Survive.
  2. Get out of semi-immediate danger, recover somewhat.
  3. Get to more long-term safety, begin full recovery.
Methods
  1. Noburi finishes field-treating Akane.
  2. Get moving again, rotating two-person teams to assist/carry Akane. Hopefully this will let us move a little further before we need to rest.
  3. Get away from the area of the forest fire and from border/river areas we expect to be heavily patrolled.
    1. The fire will have drawn a lot of attention. Prefer speed at first to get clear of the area, then switch to stealth so incoming teams will miss us/our camp.
  4. If convenient and we detect no threats, go to the nearest body of water and gather as much chakra is available to be distributed before moving and resting.
    1. Distribute chakra to try and give us the best chance to fight off anything that shows up - mostly to Inoue, Keiko, Kagome (combination of more dangerous/ less injured people)
  5. Identify somewhere fairly well hidden/secure to camp, e.g. high up in trees, underground, overhang in a riverbed. Conceal the spot as well as possible.
    1. If in a situation where excavating might help, attempt to summon Pandaa, both to check if he got out in time and to ask him to help dig/keep watch. Otherwise, Keiko should save her chakra.
  6. When the party is on their feet again, follow the pre-pursuit plan with the following modifications:
    1. No Swamp of Death, due to Mari's instructions and our current sorry state
    2. Modify the Hugs for Everyone debrief plan:
      1. We are showing Kagome the shortlist, not all the crazy things the thread has dreamt up
      2. After reassuring Keiko, bring up the hurt caused by her statemetns and ask for clarification (in Clear Communication no Jutsu style)
      3. Honestly, use CCnJ wherever feasible
      4. Commend Noburi for his contributions - sneaky chakra level detection on J, subduing Yami, keeping us all going and saving Akane. Ask if he'd like to talk about Keiko's outburst in private.
      5. Don't assume Akane feels like she didn't contribute. Compliment her sneaking and trap-disabling, and discuss the failure to communicate her exhaustion.
      6. Generally tone down the parts where Hazou blames himself. Accept responsibility where it's due (pushing to take the mission in the first place, pushing to go after the target right after Yamk arrived), but putting it all on his own shoulders is kind of presumptuous and denies others' agency
        1. He can still do it internally
      7. Points to bring up for the whole-team postmortem (inspired by @Kiba's failure analysis, which we are not sharing)
        1. Right?
          1. Initial scouting and info gathering gathered useful info and didn't expose ourselves
          2. Made positive initial contact with a useful person (Honami)
          3. Most importantly, got everyone out alive and in one piece even after things went bad
        2. Wrong?
          1. Underestimated the political gravity of the DMZ
          2. Rushed to complete the mission within the confines of a familiar but disadvantageous environment
            1. (?not sure how to phrase this. Basically, Yami showed up and we jumped on the situation, rather than having done that initially while J was out bathing, or waiting to see if J left for his other mission, or ambushing them in the wilderness; and got the worst of both worlds)
Contingencies
  1. Stop well before everyone collapses from carrying each other, so we still have some chance of fighting off chakra monsters. This may mean we can't even afford to move right now.
  2. Ideally, move away from the water after draining from it, as rivers will likely be serving as pathways for incoming ninja.
  3. Once rested/not in a desperate situation, continue with contingencies from the original plan except for writing down what we remember seeing but not tracing - including dubious information may trip up our attempts to decode the parts we know are right.

I am heavily against any plan that requires us to stay in Fire for any extended period of time. It will not take much time for the fire to be put out and thus for our decoy bodies to be discovered, since the Hot Springs ninja know where 'we' are. The Leaf-nin don't have to clear out the entire forest, either: they merely have to cover the area where we are.

I highly recommend that we move it through to Iron, find a cave/tree, and then drop dead. We can summon Pandaa to watch the camp.

I agree in general, but Iron is 100+ miles out still and we have an unconscious apprentice to carry along. We need to rest in Fire for as little time as possible, and then get going.
Vote time! What to do now? Noburi has rebalanced chakra levels among the group so that everyone is at least minimally functional, but the emphasis is on 'minimally'. At this point your average poodle could beat you.
I'm pretty sure everyone includes Akane. Though I could be wrong.

So, staying is a bad idea since we are currently in Fire Country, home of the bullshit sensors, we are far too tired to function properly, and we don't know exactly where we should go next.

This situation gives me a sense of deja vu from when we were deciding whether or not we wanted to leave Hidden Swamp, so why don't we do the same course of action here?

We should poll our teammates IC so that we can get their opinions on where we should go, when we should leave, etc. Noburi has his insights into how far our wounded teammates can be transported without harming them even further (I'd say that we can try anything up until the point of permanent injury). Keiko can calculate the maximum radius we can travel based of off those numbers with further radii based on how long we want to travel, how many breaks we want to take, how fast we want to move, etc. Kagome and Mari will know various locations within those circles we could travel to as well as what we might encounter on any proposed trips going there. Akane is unconscious due to her own brave stupidity, so, unfortunately for her, she doesn't get to vote this round.

All Hazou has to do is propose various locations we, as players, would be content with going to.

In this situation, it really isn't the destination that is important, but the journey.

We don't have to go anywhere, but we do have to be alive to travel at all.

The way the update ends, I think it's safe to assume that Akane will be at least conscious in a min or so, so we'll get her feedback.

Problem with "talk to taemmates" plan is that it doesn't do anything. We will already get their feedback on where we should go if they think Hazou's idea is stupid, might as well pitch an idea first. The mess we got into doesn't change the fact that Iron is still the best place to go (better yet, maybe the illusion we went to Rice will hold) so we have our destination. Pretty sure teammates will pitch in the best way to make a pit stop, so there's no reason to dedicate a plan solely to it.

[X] Action Plan: Breathe, Drink, Flee

We do what we can to get back on track, and hope no one rolls 15 ones on their TM or something. Then we drop dead in Iron.

@eaglejarl, @Velorien, is there a game effect to keeping med-nin and med-know levels in sync, either as prereqs to each other or in a practical sense that you can't take advantage of higher levels of one if it's too much higher than the level of the other?

We now have an infobox for techniques. See example on how to use it.

Anyway, moving on.

if Iron is where all the missing nins go, it's also where all the missing-nin hunters go.

Even if we make it to Iron, there's no telling what kind of resources and efforts people will send to find us especially given that we violated the DMZ.

The Kurosawas would absolutely have the sickest fucking secret handshakes ever. They could just make up arbitrary ninja-level movements and then repeat them perfectly every time.
