While general state of the world is good, I'd be more specific and say "Check town for wanted posters with our names and faces, and see if we can learn about the fallout from our mission."

@Muer'ci I'm piggy backing off your plan here. I would also recommend you add a scouting/rumor gathering portion specific to Iron before contacting Noburi's sensei.

Will do, edits incoming.

And sure, why not:

[X] Action Plan: D3 Lite

I think it would be better to do that next update.
The issue is, I think the check-in deadline for the mission contact in tea is in a couple days. So if we want the reward, we gotta go now.

In fact, that might not be the worst idea in the world. If we leave now, Fire won't have upped patrols along the Hot Springs border yet, and Tea is even further from the heat than Iron.

Plus, if we get down there, we have a chance to screw over Mr. Shady. Considering that he didn't know what the info was written on, nor what was written in it, if we hand him a scroll with indecipherable gibberish on it while claiming the reward for destroying the enemy copy, he's none the wiser.

Cons are longer distance, through Fire, having to wait for med nin training (though we'd probably need to do that anyway given injuries)

Pros are some cash, a chance to make more permanent contacts in a new area, maybe getting in touch with Big J, and being WAY THE FUCK AWAY from the hunter nin swarm

I am also confused what the joke is supposed to be in your sig if that's not it. This needs to be answered!
Y'all were right, I'd just forgotten what I'd written in my own sig :D (it's cuz I'm on mobile 75+% of the time)

I have zero interest to interact Mr. Shady Guy. The only reason to do that would be to betray him to Jiraya at some point, but I have a feeling he will beat us to the punch on that front.

You want ninja with 3D maneuver gear a la Attack on Titan? :D
No. I want intangible-exhaust rocket packs. They'd let us fly.
This will be represented by an extra dice in tactical movement?

Imagine being able to sprint a little bit further, jump a little bit more...Run a bit faster...
Or enable a TacMov Style. And possibly another Taijutsu style; if you've read Lighting Up The Dark you should know the one I mean, but that'd be for after we get better armor.
Can anyone (@MadScientist?) clarify what the gyroscope/cannon/mass driver seals do? Considering dropping those.
Basically, force-only explosive seals with a bit of tuning. Gyroscope Seal doesn't actually involve spinning, just reorienting an object away from gravity. (Although a rotary force seal could be useful.)
Gyroscope would probably be useful for some forms of flight (and traps), Cannon Seal is Kinetic-Only Shaped Charge, and obviously useful for launching artillery, and Mass Driver Seal is similar, but has to provide even acceleration to minimize damage, and can be made big enough and powerful enough to launch things in to orbit.

[X] Action Plan: Distract, Defuse, Deescalate

Goals:
  • Survive
  • Heal up
  • Hold onto sanity

Methods:
  • Remind everyone to keep the priorities straight/"Can we save this till later"?
    • Clear communiation? Yes, please!
      • (Tho I still think that plan: remind everyone of how hurt we are was a good one. Ah well...)
  • Let things calm down a bit.
    • Settle in for the night, treat injuries, set watch shifts, get dinner, check perimeter, - something normal, a routine team can cling to while we adjust to what happened.
    • Quietly fill in Kagome on basics of what happened: ran into a jounin, had to kill him, had to run. Complicated stuff save for later.
  • Leave in the morning
    • Breakfast, take down the camp
    • Stabilize injuries as best as possible with henged travel in mind
      • that's tightly wrapped ribs for Noburi and.. nah, he knows better at this point. (Better than me at least)
    • Noburi gets his chakra up via any streams we come across
    • Keep drama on down low, we can have a nice big breakdown once we arrive at the new place
      • No really, autopilot is good here. Do the necessary things first. Compartmentalize, etc.
  • Go to Iron. Why?
    • Because that's one place where they won't expect missing nin to go
      • Enough time passed since Big Stuff happened that it shouldn't be crawling with hunters anymore.
    • Because we have an expert on survival in Iron forest right here with us.
    • Because we know a healer in Yuni who might be amenable to patch us up and resume Noburi's lessons
      • for a price, but we have something like 5k and we can get more.
    • Because there are casinos there which can serve as a source of money, info and perhaps even more seals.
  • Go to Iron. How?

    • Run West into Fire, past Rice, get into Iron via Fire/Iron border.
      • Better yet, run past Rice and Iron into Waterfall, and from there cross into Iron.
      • This even lets us visit a pretty big border town, if we so chose. Or not visit. Maybe we pass it. Mari can pick.
  • On the way to Iron:
    • Briefly visit (small) border settlement(s)
      • Catch any rumors on hunter-nin activity and state of the world in general
      • Check town(s) for wanted posters with our names and faces in particular
      • See if we can learn about the fallout from our mission
        • we probably won't, since it'll be just a day by then, but who knows...
  • Once in Iron?
    • Settle down somewhere else in the forest, defer to Kagome here.
      • Save Sealing shenanigans till we have a proper lab.
      • Also save shenanigans till we're at least 2 dice better
      • Once we are fit to do research, see research plans
    • Scout out Yuni and it's surrounding, keep an eye/ear out for rumors, our mugshots, anything that might make our trip to Yuni difficult or interesting.
      • Avoid interesting.
    • Visit the clinic in Yuni for that sweet healing, arrange for Nobby to resume his lessons once he's fit for it.
      • Hashimoto-san, Noburi missed you so. Please take him back under your wing for a bit longer.
    • Make money by small-time gambling
    • Buy sealing supplies (we know a good paper shop, Nobby can have that rematch)
    • Get Kagome to work on salvaged code
      • Keiko and maybe Hazou might be helpful for Kagome doing the crypto thing, which might in turn be a nice distraction and hopefully confidence boost for Keiko
    • Keiko has plenty of time to hang out with Pangolins now. Make friends, get relashionship advice. Can't be worse than ours.
    • Something else?
  • Once we settle down, full debrief:
    • Winning debrief plan goes here.

Contingencies:
  • If someone comes after us, running is preferred to fighting.
  • Opsec, yeah? Disguises, fake names when we're visiting places, the usual.
  • Minimize trail while on the road. We've done so much running, we should have a routine by now.
Update can be limited to moving to Iron+Big Talk, if thread/QM prefers, with long-term things to do saved till next time.

Check all green stuff please, it should be all new with old stuff white. Added a bit here and there on top of rumor-searching.

Cool, that's pretty much what I assumed but it's good to check

I'm super worried about staying the night in Tea, and mildly worried about seeming dismissive of Kei. Would recommend some reassurance before asking everyone to focus again, and would really like to get gone ASAP.

@Muer'ci Oli is right about that time is precious here. More time we give them, stronger response and tighter net our hunters are going to create. If we can we should put distance between us and Hot Springs immediately.

I don't think the plan is dismissive of Keiko, there's nothing we can say or do that would help so it's better to focus on immediate practical things for now.

@Velorien @eaglejarl @Jackercracks Any consensus on Mechanical Aptitude and what it can and eventually will be able to do if we level it up in the future?
At level 15, all further progress is done through specialisations, such as "trapmaking" or "civil engineering". Multiple specialisations can be pursued, but must be paid for separately and do not stack.

We're still figuring out how much a given number of dice gets you in terms of things you can create/achieve, and would like to invite suggestions from you guys about what different levels of Mechanical Aptitude should be able to do.

Note that MA doesn't actually exist in canon - Kishimoto never stopped to think about where his wireless headsets and televisions came from, and the only ninja with any serious technical skill were Hidden Sand puppetmasters (whose crafting expertise focused on a few narrow fields such as the mass/durability ratio and how they could cram the most concealed weaponry into their puppets). Technology in MfD is both sane and not very advanced, so sophisticated mechanics are every bit as amazing (and hard to achieve) as sophisticated sealcrafting.
And while we weren't supposed to have a personal Jounin, we were also not supposed to be twice-missing nin. (RIP, Shikigami and Hidden Swamp)
If you're trying to say these two things should cancel each other out, I think they reinforce each other instead. Had Inoue-sensei not rescued you, you would be dead along with the rest of Hidden Swamp (as a consequence of the Mist/Fire decision), whereas this way you not only escaped but received a huge asset as well.
@Velorien, @eaglejarl: I still think Keiko deserves a TYS point. She saw the woman she thinks of as a big sister, and has a crush on, try to kill herself and nearly die, but for her quick thinking in utter panic.
Not wholly convinced by the rationale, but yes, she gets a TYS point for that fight.

I hear you. But we covered our tracks well enough during escape, and spent two hours hiding our trail. We're hurt and exausted and need rest, or else making the run will be even harder.

If adults in the team decide that we need to leave NOW (and I suspect it will be Kagome and Mari who will be making this choice, not kids, because this is a Big Deal) then we leave now. But I'd still advocate for couple of hours of sleep, or however much we have at his point. Remember, it's still same night, we're not snoozing for 8 hrs here. Running around tired and hurt in the dark? :\

Re: Kei, I don't think she will see it as dismissive. Or maybe she will, I don't know. Frankly, I expect her to gulp down some food and hit the bedroll and sleep. Same for everyone bar Kagome and Mari.

Unless we do run immediately, in which case, honestly, it can wait. Everything can wait.

E: would like more input from online folks.

No, I'm saying that if the village thing actually worked as planned, it would be just three of us doing stuff, but presumably, jounin assigning us stuff would pick something actually suitable for genin. I think it's been confirmed in the thread even. Somewhere.

@Muer'ci Can you add, in your plan to actually enter Iron, to comment that we're following rivers unless they lead us closer to a Hidden Village? Like this:
Proposal plan for those of you who want to go to Iron. Bit worried about the purple square since there isn't a decent river to go on (the existing one curves to Konoha which is BAD), but it seems otherwise reasonable.

Rivers added, thx.

Any input on leaving right now vs in a couple of hours, and if we leave now, do we spend time on breaking apart the camp?

E: actually, fuck it. Paranoia train all the way. Gon flip the reasoning. If Mari feels that we can stay for 2-ish hrs she can say so. Otherwise we scram after taking a quick breather to eat a ration bar and prepare for a night run.

After we blow up the fort, i guess. Or wait no, noise will attract them. Well, more explosive tags for us.

Your plan currently says "Leave in the morning" and generally does give the impression of snoozing for 8 hours. Maybe tweak the wording to make things seem more urgent and put in something like "Leave at first light"?

Yes, we need to destroy all the evidence we possibly can since the MEW walls will give away that this was our camp.

EDIT: It would've kinda maked sense to do that before going on the mission, better remember that next time.

I personally would leave RN, since I'm fairly sure we would only need to run for another hour or two to get into Iron. HOWEVER if we're actually going to do rumors it might be a bad idea because we'd arrive in the night which generally=bad.

Hm...

What if we left NOW and made camp in Hidden Swamp (or similar location in Fire)? Then we could do scouting things for Iron and have a relatively safe place in the meantime.

MEW walls will give away that this was our camp.
So will shattered MEW walls, unless we're very thorough with our explosives, which will draw attention. They already know we were here, Honami's descriptions will let them pin down who it was (unless she hides from them for fear of her baby, which is possible)

Basically I'd rather the team get as little rest as they need and then book it

Well, it'll still be morning. just one that happens to be close. But yeah, not a problem anymore ^^'

We can't do anything to the walls, we already tried that before. I meant any sort of evidence that gives them more info on us, what we do, how we live etc. Also we can't leave behind anything that gives an easy way to track us (scents etc.). I wish we had something really stinky to spread over our campsite to make tracking us harder.

...or wait. They have our blood from Mari's head wound. We are so utterly screwed; Iron doesn't seem far enough anymore.

EDIT: Should we circle around the southeastern islands anyway? That would really help cut of our scent trail, even if we had to travel longer.

There's always Tea?

Or we could stay here, level the rest of the building, and try to pin the blame on "the Liberator's movement". How much are we willing to bet on Mari's bluff check?

re: walls, blowing up is no-no. we just pick up whatever we can, and scram. Our house is simple anyway. What can they learn, that there are two rooms?
"I'm not afraid of you. I fought two melee-spec jounin in close quarters, which one of them had prepared, and killed him."
Okay. That sounds fake but okay. :V

Would the southeastern island detour be impossible? Anyone have an opinion on that?
No to WW (e: across sea, i mean) from me if we're going tired hurt and at night, even short-distance. Rivers will have to do for scent-ditching. We're not in River country, these guys ain't speshul.
