If the canon timeline is still accurate, Akatsuki are due to start collecting bijū in earnest in 2 or 3 years, with Madara!Tobi declaring war not much later. We need to either hope this doesn't happen in our AU, derail Akatsuki (which is hard, because that's their actual goal and they're powerful), or just hide and hope for the allied nations to win.
... This actually kind of puts us on a timer. Maybe we should figure out if that's still going to happen, learning about Akatsuki fits with our "learn how to missing-nin" goal anyway.

This world is wildly AU. Naruto is known to be the Yondaime's son. Sasuke got sidelined. Zabuza isn't evil, and the Land of Iron went from Samurai-ville to shit-ville.
I do not think Akatsuki is going to be hunting bijuu with any speed, simply because any bijuu is going to be guarded to the ends of the earth instead of being allowed to wander like nearly every single fucking one. Seriously, Yugito was the only Jinchuriki who got caught inside of a city, instead of being ambushed after leaving the village for -insert bullfuckingstupidreason here-.

Never happened because Yagura didn't go apeshit against bloodline clans, which caused the war. Which suggests that Madara/Tobi aren't active, or are being smart about it.

Well, while that's true, we don't actually know that he is that enthusiastic about murder. Maybe I'm reading too far into it for Naruto canon, but that strikes me as the kind of reputation that he'd want to cultivate regardless of whether he was or not.

Our OSR group has the order as 'Run Away', 'Bullshit', 'No, Seriously, Run Away' and finally 'Reluctant Violence Until We Can Run Away'. This is because violence kills, mostly PCs.
