Wait. Are you saying that we have a chance to renegotiate our battle strategy, if voting is open?
I think he meant voting regarding Ami. @Velorien ?

You may want to stick to a consistent routine and bedtime for sleeping.
Bah. *flaps hands as though shooing chickens* Get off my lawn and take your sensible thinking with you.

Have some more unsolicited advice but only because I am curious if this would work and not for any other reason. :V

Pavlov yourself into becoming sleepy at the push of a button.

Since you said you can fall asleep easily once you are in bed, have your phone play a repeating tune for a few minutes (ideally you will fall asleep before it ends). Keep this up for a few weeks and then next time you want to sleep but don't feel like going to bad, play that chime to instantly collapse into sleep wherever you are.

Warning: Do not use any of the more common chimes, your favorite song or your ring tune for this.
Bah. *flaps hands some more* Go join @Kiba

Thank you both, those are good thoughts.

I don't actually remember that. I just remember a bunch of people getting pissy over army list stuff that was in no way mechanically impactful.
Hm. Maybe I'm wrong and it was someone else? Did you split off of someone else's WHF/Sliver quest or did someone split off of yours?

*investigates*

Yep, it was "Slivers in Warhammer Fantasy". Here's some examples:

Land submarines: Slivers in Warhammer Fantasy (MTG/WHF) | Page 243
Omnidirectional claymores via sliver growth, overlap bombs from etherealness: Slivers in Warhammer Fantasy (MTG/WHF) | Page 243

See how long it takes them to level up in Taijutsu on average.
How would you measure the transition? Remember that Hazō doesn't see the numbers, so he won't see a discontinuous improvement in the person's skill.

Introduce them to the rest of Hazou's List of Shinobi Specifications
Is that anything like the Seventy Sayings of Supremely Skilled Shinobi?

In my head it makes sense to me that you would be able to roughly track "Most improved" just by virtue of Hazou's experience and him testing the kids at the beginning and end of the week(s) at least. Do a Hazou vs. Student spar for a bunch of students at the start and end. This should tell you how much the students improve relative to where they were before.

You can roughly place the kids with each other by having them spar with each other at the start. This should give you a mildly accurate idea of where they start relative to each other.

If you know that Kid A and Kid B have roughly the same skill at the start of the week(s), but Kid A improves more than Kid B over the course of the week(s) qualitatively speaking, you can guesstimate that Kid A can learn faster: that his "talent coefficient" or average XP/day is likely higher than Kid B's.

Not perfect by any means, but I think it might do?

Some fusion of that and the evil overlord list, but for ninja.

Sure, but that didn't make me frustrated.

Ah, good. I enjoyed that quest a lot, so I'm glad to have not aggravated the author. What else have you been working on since then? Anything I could go read?

Ah, I see. Yes, that should work. I thought you were trying to literally spot the point at which someone leveled, which would not have.

Thank you beautiful folks for all that you do around here.

@eaglejarl , @Velorien , @OliWhail , @faflec hey hugs for everyone..

Now before we get started..

Would anyone like to step out?

--To the beat of MAMA SAID KNOCK YOU OUT, by Ladies Love Cool J..--

HAZO:

"Shadowboxin' like you Nara Shikako, I'll put you on the D-E-O"

"Department of Energy & Outros, you just don't know!"

"What I got inside my bag of wonders,

leave Mist like a tundra.."

EXPLOSIONS....

"CALL THE JOUNIN"

"YOU ABSOLUTE STINKERS"

"KUNAI'S EXPENSIVE LIKE RICE

Flying through the air like civvies with lice.."

...

KEIKO:

...

HAZO:

"...No reply?"

PANKRASHAnup from the ground:

KEIKO SAID CLAW YOU DOWN

IM GONNA CLAW YOU DOWN

KEIKO SAID CLAW YOU DOWN

PANKOKRATOR TAKES THE CROWN

Civilian: "k'sooooo..."

...
See, if you'd just posted that earlier, @eaglejarl wouldn't have needed to write that whole Uplift speech scene and could have skipped straight to the actual fight.

I think he meant voting regarding Ami. @Velorien ?
Precisely.

Damn. Here I was hoping that Hazou could become the progenitor of the theory of Quantum Game Mechanics.

On the plus side, this does allow me to update the probability that the various paths are literal computer games RTS/TBS/RPG/etc.

I keep getting messages from the Russian Language Translators' Network entitled "Appeal to the hive mind". It's really disconcerting.

You could try appealing to us and seeing what happens. I, for one, would find it appealing for your voting cycle to wait until eaglejarl's chapter drops to close, preferably a couple hours after so we can scrape together a plan.

But far be it from me to ask The Evil One to pass up the chance to end a voting cycle with no votes and claim absolute control over Hazou's actions.

[] Action Plan: Every Dog Has His Day

  • Watch the Chouji vs Hinata fight.
  • Go eat dinner with Noburi and Kiba
    • Explain to Noburi beforehand: Kiba is probably pretty shaken from that absolutely embarrassing loss. This would be a good time to start building a relationship with him. If we can build some sort of mutually beneficial friendship/alliance, that works great for all of us.
      • Right now we don't have the greatest relationships with the majority of Leaf-nin. At best, we're neutral with almost all of them save ISC and a dozen or so others. The Hyuuga dislike us in general and their allies probably lean that way as well.
      • Kiba seems like a decent guy. Bit thick and pretty rash,, but thats not an insurmountable obstacle.
    • Kiba has had a rough loss, he might need a pick me up.
    • Attempt to build bonds by showing him true friendship and kindness.
    • Does he feel like training with us from time to time when we get back to Leaf?
      • (Semi-seriously) We have explosives. Blowing the shit out of things is also pretty cool.
  • Celebrate Keiko's victory with some board games and hot chocolate.

[X] Lore Update

I can't bring myself to vote for anything else with seventeen minutes to the deadline and no update.

After an epic battle atop a mountain as gale force winds swept around us and lightning strikes punctuated each blow, which is to say a typical QM Monday, @eaglejarl and I have determined your fates for the next couple of updates.

Voting for the coming Thursday update will close later than usual, 6 p.m. London time. The update will feature the aftermath of your match, as well as the Chōji/Hinata match in the afternoon if you are able to see it (and not, say, dead or kicked out of Mist).

The Sunday update will feature an interlude by eaglejarl. The next Thursday update will then be your meeting with Ami. By happy coincidence, this arrangement will give you nearly a full week to prepare (though it couldn't possibly merit that level of consideration, could it?).

Oh, and eaglejarl also wishes to mention that he got the description of the quarry wrong in the most recent discussion: it is, as per chapter 231, "several hundred feet on a side and thirty feet deep", not 100 feet on a side.

I believe @Velorien said that we'd have until sometime tomorrow to vote?
No, vote closing was checks watch forty-nine minutes ago, but we still don't have an update.

- if some other kid dies in a ditch instead of your selected student, that's not really an improvement.
It kind of is though? This is going in a darker direction but wouldn't you rather that if your fellow ninja had to die you'd prefer the ones that follow your way of thinking live on to teach the next generation.

If more ninja from opposing points of view died, if clans that were ultimately against your ideas were eventually defunct, and more and more of the ninja that follow your views lived on, taught their ways to the next generation, had families, and grew as the majority of the ideological factions within the village, isn't that ultimately a good thing for Hazo in the longrun?

I mean, Moses did it to the dissenters in his group too. Though obviously we wouldn't directly cause any deaths, just help to ensure our students and personal comrades live on. We're not monsters after all....well ok you know what I mean.
