Above all else? I'm very happy that Keiko has gone from someone who think's they themselves are trash at everything, to boldly standing in front of a hundred or so genin, proclaiming that she is in fact hot shit, and letting them know they are complete trash.

Sure, maybe it was just a bluff tactic. Progress though! Growth mindset.

I'd model it after Mari's takedown of the chuunin group when we approached HIdden Mountain.
I'm going to take artistic license and its going to come out part action and part comedy.

I'll write a serious punching Omake at some point next month that explains exactly where all this bonus XP comes from.
Half of the competition are Leaf ninja. The other half are random minor village teammates, presumably.
I thought a lot of these guys were dropping out though?

There will be 4 matches in the finals

16 -> 8 -> 4 -> 2

We know, more or less, that the participants will be drawn from a pool consisting of 27 people (Goketsu, ISC, Kurenai, and any of our partners or ISC's R1 partners)

We know that 4 (or more) people are dropping out of consideration (Gomi, the genjutsu spec from our R1 team, and three from ISC's R1 team).

We don't know anything about ISC s three potential mystery partners from R1 (other than lowest quartile, going into R5... but again we were also lowest quartile, so it doesn't necessarily mean combat weak)

We know quite a bit about those staying in from our R1 team (and they, us)

We have pretty darned good guesses at the capabilities of ISC, and better guesses as for Kurenai.

We don't know a ton about our R2 partners, though we collectively fought them in an open environment without Goo.
Kato is also dropping out.

We should think of contingencies for Team Kurenai, ISC and R1 allies.

Also, figure out what the hell to do when we face each other in the bracket.
On that note:

@eaglejarl @Velorien @OliWhail Do we get Thousand Yard Stare points for taking down 54 chuunin in 2 hours?

@eaglejarl @Velorien @OliWhail
Maybe not that, but maybe then deliberately processing everyone with heel-cuts and earbusters for the sweet, sweet tactical advantage?

If we didn't get one for Minami being murdered in front of our eyes and a ninja writing a message on the wall in her blood, I don't think this will suffice.

Don't we also get TTS points for overcoming great challenges? TTS points are "I've seen shit, I've killed shit, I've done shit, you don't scare me."

Man, if we, ISC, and Kurenai all get into the tournament, over half the bracket is from Leaf. That's got to be a huge coup.

I thought that was a foregone conclusion?
I don't know. It seems like our participation influenced that outcome a lot, and that ISC and Kurenai would have faced much stiffer competition if we hadn't been present, which to me seems like we probably took it from 2-4 Leaf nin entering the tournament to nine getting in.

Can you imagine the Negaverse thread right now.

They've probably all been banned

@eaglejarl
I am counting anybody in cells as having a Moderate Consequence penalty in the second round. Anybody else gets away with having persistent injuries from the previous round. If otherwise, let me know and I'll adjust. I'm also considering R1 3-man cells to persist into R2 (no breaking up the make-teams of 1-2 man spares)

We didn't get 4 of the teams (ISC+co + Kurenai) - so we get 24 prisoners.

R2 Red:
  • If Kurenai was on an ISC partner team (likely) … -300 - 165 = -465
    • else Kurenai on unprotected team … -300 - 330 = -630
  • ISC: 320 + (185 - 330) = 175
  • ISC-R1co, w/Kurenai: 320 - 165 = 155
    • w/o Kurenai: 320 - 330 = -10
  • Highest of all others (w/2 of Kurenai and ISC-R1co): -225 - 165 = -390
    • Highest of all others (w/ 1 of Kurenai and ISC/co) : -225 - 330 = -555
R2 Blue
  • Goketsu: 185 + 290 = 475
  • Goketsu-R2co = -495 + 290 = -205
  • Goketsu-R1co: 185 - 150 = 35
  • Others paired with Goketsu-R1co: -495-150 = -645
If Kurenai was paired with an ISC R1 team in R2, Sorted order:
3xGoketsu: 475
3xISC: 175
3xISC-co w/Kurenai: 155
6xGoketsu-R1co: 35
3xISC-co w/o Kurenai: -10
6xGoketsu-R2co: -205
Highest unnamed wISC-co & Kurenai: -390
3xKurenai: -465
… not bothering with the others

If Kurenai was not paired with an ISC R1 team in R2, Sorted order:
3xGoketsu: 475
3xISC: 175
6xGoketsu-R1co: 35
6xISC-co w/o Kurenai: -10
6xGoketsu-R2co: -205
Highest unnamed w 1 of ISC-co / Kurenai: -555
3xKurenai: -630
… not bothering with the others

I think there is a legitimate question whether our R2 teammates might be ahead of some of either ISC or our old R1 teammates, or team Kurenai (assuming they were mid-pack and not bottom quartile, like both of our initial parties) - They are only 195 points away from the lowest of our original protected members, and have gained relative 260+ points on Kurenai.

I thought that was a foregone conclusion?

Depends on where Kurenai stood relative to our R1 and R2 partners.

Both ISC and our R1 partners gained 455+ relative to Kurenai (which, I believe, puts all of them ahead, slightly)
Our R2 partners gained 260+ on Kurenai.

If they were even middle of the pack, going into this event, they might be slightly ahead of Kurenai, points wise.

Neither Kurenai or our R2 partners have word halves for Event 1, so no changes coming there (we were planning, at some point, to offer word halves for R2 partners, but evidently didn't need to.

Maybe the word halves we return to R1 partners ensure that they make the tournament, if they want to, but is still open question regarding the remaining 3 (18-5 of 16 accounted for)spots and Kurenai vs our R2 partners.

Edit: I said it before the update as well - if I was Mist, I'd put some Mist ringers on our team to hedge my bet. I wouldn't be surprised if Tachibana and the Mist Taijutsu guy had high enough scores.

Man, I still feel really bad about that speech, especially when Shikamaru was retroactively lying to us about his plan, so it wasn't even really necessary.

This is verbatim the roll against Touma with an extra +16 from extra bonuses. Did we not use Roki there either?

@eaglejarl Looks like we may have slammed Touma into the dirt harder than we thought?
Huh, looks like a versioning problem. When I was writing that chapter I originally had Hazō use the blast rings, but then I realized I'd forgot to add in Roki so I put that in and took the rings out so he could keep them secret. I must have edited something and overwritten the chapter with the old version. I'll fix it tomorrow.

Cough Cough.

I believe he gets tags on the two Consequences he just inflicted as well? Doesn't seem to be in there. I think thats what you originally replaced the blast rings with?

For the first week...

[X][Minor] Post-mortem of the Chūnin Exam (Invites all participants)
Is this officially a thing we are doing?

Eh. We can repair a lot of the stuff that isn't against Cloud /Rock nin. We should consider chit chatting with Team Downfall for example.

Are there any canidates for the tournament that the members of team uplift would have a problem fighting one on one? Because right now it looks like a stomp, but I expect people to be training for a month with the clear idea of wanting to beat us.
