[X] Action Plan: Rocks Fall, Two Becomes One
Objectives:
  • Keep Team Rockfall Two alive.
  • Keep Team Rockfall Two sane.
  • Reunite Team Rockfall Two and One into Team Uplift Plus One
  • Deliver our report to Jiraiya.
  • Be polite with everyone.
Actions:
  1. Prepare for the meeting.
    1. Get mildly disguised, no henge.
      1. Use Mari's lessons on disguise to make yourself blend in as much as possible, despite not having a henge.
      2. If we feel that our disguise without henge is insufficient, wear veils.
    2. Alternatively, go so over the top no one with functioning ears wants to look in your direction (YOUTH!)
      1. On second thought, that's a horrible idea and Hazou is absolutely not thinking about that.
  2. Report to Jiraiya.
    1. Let Akane or Noburi take the lead. Be completely honest.
    2. Major points:
      1. Extracurricular mission began on a tip from operative in Ise.
        1. Said operative is requesting a home in Leaf, mostly for his daughter. He's asking for a month's leniency.
      2. Said tip was the Sunset Racer rolled into town with a whole bunch of Yakuza, to which the Yakuza in Ise rolled out the red carpet for.
      3. We commenced the attack on Sunset Racer sometime in midmorning the next day after receiving the tip.
        1. Both Pangolins and Mist Drain were utilized.
      4. We encountered two enemy ninja, likely genin to chunin class, leaning towards the chunin class.
        1. Noburi can explain in greater detail.
      5. All enemy combatants were drained unconscious or dead in about ten to fifteen seconds after we began engagement.
        1. Mostly unconscious.
      6. All documents were taken, along with anything of value on that ship aside from our new prisoners.
      7. Set your face in Iron Nerve.
        1. Everyone that wasn't the prisoner was executed via explosions that also sunk the Sunset Racer.
    3. Relax Iron Nerve and admit how we don't feel good about it.
      1. It was the first time Hazou, Akane, Noburi, and Keiko got blooded with civilian lives directly.
    4. Ask if there's anything we can do to help Jiraiya, even if it's just letting him vent.
      1. Ask if there's any big changes that we need to know about.
    5. Ask if we can requisition anything to let us see farther than with just the naked eye without us requiring to go there in person.
      1. Ideally a spyglass, because those don't give chakra signatures, but remote viewing jutsu would work too.
    6. Leave the office.
  3. Check in with Mari, if she's available. If not, check in later once we've finished resupplying.
    1. Ask Mari if the room is safe to talk in. If not, skip this subsection 4.1.1.
      1. Talk with her about the mission.
    2. Ask her how things are in Konoha, and talk about it.
    3. Give her a hug.
    4. Ask her if she thinks Jiraiya will let us do work to help extract Hana, or if things have changed (e.g. Hana is the Mizukage and we haven't found out yet)
    5. Ask her if she thinks she can give Keiko some notes on Whispers on the Wind so that Keiko can try and learn it.
  4. Go resupply.
    1. If we got permission to requisition something which lets us see farther than the naked eye, get it.
  5. Suggest we all go back to the skytower to sleep. We'll be leaving at the end of the day, so we should take any opportunities to rest that we can.
  6. Leave for Nagi Island.
    1. Sleep about sixteen hours in. Doing two all nighters in three days is going to destroy us, endurance training or no.
    2. Finish the run next morning.
  7. Complete the After Action Report, barring unusual circumstances.
    1. Avoid reminding Minami of her outsider status, and try to defend her if our teammates are snippy.
    2. Things that need improvement:
      1. Disguising trump cards.
        1. We played Mist Drain and Pangolins in an incredibly obvious fashion.
        2. Can we have Pangolins henge in future?
        3. Can we henge into statues of other summons to confuse reports?
        4. Activate the Misterators as the opening move, rather than letting the Pangolins roam about first.
      2. Timing between the two teams.
        1. Air team landed on the deck whole seconds after Boat Team secured all the hostiles.
          1. Luckily, Noburi managed to make this a nonissue.
        2. Perhaps in ambushes Minami can counter this with Soudai's Prism?
          1. Leave the Soudai's prism with the other team - on their signal, Minami's team moves.
        3. Maybe learning Whispers on the Wind might be a good idea? Depends on if we can find a teacher/Mari's notes work for that purpose.
        4. Lastly, maybe Keiko could leave a summon with the other team and unsummon them as the sign to attack.

I have a stored copy if you want me to send it to you by some means.

  • Noburi and Akane are to take Goda straight to Leaf after arranging a rendezvous point with the rest of the team, who will continue the mission.
  • Judgement regarding survivors left to Minami's discretion based on the situation on-site.
  • Make sure to retrieve any documents in Goda's possession. Also check his personal effects for any information that might be useful for his interrogation.
  • Focus on the mission. The Kurosawa Hana situation can wait until you're not in the middle of something potentially vital to Leaf's survival.
@eaglejarl @Velorien @OliWhail Does Jiraiya mean that we should wait until after the courier mission to ask about saving Momma? Or does he mean that we should wait until after the Goda mission (already done) to ask about saving Momma?

Need to put this to bed.

Seriously though, it was a nightmare. People have nightmares.
Welp. Seems slightly specific to have a nightmare about Uchiha itachi, about who we only really know that he's a missing-nin of S-rank and has powerfull sharingan. Would have more sense to see him as "Hazou, you're becoming him" kinda wonky shit, and not "He comes to half-murder you, or just simply take hostages from you." But hey, I don't care.

No, we shouldn't. I am 95% (because going much higher than that is difficult probabilistically) certain that he meant that we should finish the mission in its entireity before we worry about that.

And I am 95% certain you are wrong. However we have the chance to find out what he meant directly. We will follow orders and be respectful but we are just seeking clarification nothing wrong with that

Question: can Noburi push Chakra into someone using his mist technique? If not, perhaps something he unlocks at a higher level of vampiric dew?

I wonder if he could injure/disable someone by pushing too much Chakra into them (a way to immediately disoriented a ninja pre-battle before they've used Chakra)

We do not want to give Jiraiya any indication that we're likely to disobey orders or go off half-cocked or betray Leaf in any fashion, and I fear that being so insistent about this will lead to that kind of thought.

I am very confused. I want to ask what Jiraiya will allow us to do so we don't accidentally go of half cocked. As long as we do what he says he will just see that we are good obedient soldiers.

Thoughts:
2.2 is begging for trouble if we don't qualify to not actually do this.
3.3.1 feels oddly specific. Can the sentiment be expressed more clearly? Something like the concept that they had the ability to spare them and really wanted to but ultimately decided to kill them anyways, or that a part of them doesn't quite accept that it had to be done?
3.4 and 3.6 feel like they would work better grouped together.
I have bad feeling about 1.2.3.1 and 1.2 in general, but can't quite articulate them so I'll just leave that be.

And my case is that we have already asked and gotten a response.

(separate statement) While busy, he is competent enough to take into account our preferences -- pushing for clarification, I feel, would result in him updating Hazou's likelihood of defection.

Paranoia does strange things to a guy. We collectively have more in common with Kagome than I'm comfortable with :p

So you're idea when there is ambiguity is to not try to clear it up? Like we can honestly say we where not sure if he meant the courier mission or yakuza mission. If he says courier we shut up and be good soldiers. If it's the yakuza mission we can start planning it.

I do not think that there is sufficient ambiguity to be worth asking after.

And I think it was unambiguously about the Yakuza mission. Every other questions answered was about the Yakuza mission which implies that was the mission he was referring to. We are having a sit down where we can clear up all ambiguity and find out the restrictions we would be under if we do try to rescue Hana. It cost us nothing and can potentially advance a long term goal. Like I expect Hana to die soon if we don't get her out. If she isn't dead already

The (paraphrased) "Mission that is an existential threat to Leaf" makes things pretty clear to me that he's referring to it as a whole and its relation to rescuing Naruto.

And to me that refers to the mission that has potential immediate payoff. We might have given him the key to rescuing Naruto which could drastically alter the situation. It can be read many ways which is why we should ask. It hurts nothing

I think it was very clear to me that the mission refer to all our missions. Making sure Leaf is safe is a bigger priority than getting Hazō's mommy out.
