That went really well. I was suspicious about it before, but I'm happy that @OliWhail included coming out clean about our future plans to Jiraya. The cat is out of the bag so to speak, and if we don't get killed off surreptitiously in the next two updates, we should be good.
Of course, we should assume that people like Danzo and Orochimaru also get to hear that particular speech. It will be interesting to see how will they manipulate us with that particular information.
In happier news, we are going to get a bunch of adorable genin looking after us. This is going to be great. (At least before the stabbing starts.)
Not sure what to do about Kabuto, beyond getting a third party to check Akane over for tampering. I don't think Nobby will be that good any time soon.
There's not really much we can actively do now, beyond picking our reward, getting some training in, and choosing a good general strategy to deal with our minders. We should focus our plan around these things.

We know Sound's competence went up around the time Orochimaru went missing-nin. Just because we don't know if the Sound village exists or not doesn't mean that it doesn't.

Canonically, he attacks Leaf and the Hokage, but other than that is actually surprisingly apathetic towards vengeance. There are a bunch of people who have wronged him in one way or another in the past, and whom he completely ignores or treats with detachment.

Orochimaru is yandere for Leaf, basically.
That went about as well as could be expected.
Pity that Leaf are going to have aerial capabilities now, but realistically we shouldn't have expected to be able to keep that from them, and even more realistically every seal master ever is going to figure out the trick pretty soon after we start using HH.

Yeah, Orochimaru didn't invade Konoha and so had no reason to keep Kabuto at such a pathetic rank. Canon!Kabuto threw the exams constantly to stay out of the spotlight. MfD!Kabuto wants to be in the spotlight for the additional power that comes with it.
