We have ~22 hours to file in a plan. I suggest we get on with it. Here's something we need to do in the next update:
Our problem, as I mentioned, is that we cannot request surveillance of any clans without tipping off Arikada's employer. However, I believe I have an idea. Provide indications to your contacts with Irie and Hinago that 'Kasuga' believes her identity to be compromised, and will soon re-enter Sarubetsu under a new one, which will have to fake ignorance of her previous actions. This will keep the clans on alert for an incoming sealmistress without giving them any new information. If you tell the receptionist that you have an urgent appointment on behalf of Shibata and Sons, you will be able to see me any time I am available, and I will pass on any relevant information.

So we need to do that. Preferably through someone else than the Totally-Not-Orochimaru guy. Not sure how to go on about that. Do we just wander around the town looking suspicious again?

@Velorien @eaglejarl Did we buy the stuff from Shintarou already or do we need to go back for that?

What else do we want to do with the next update? Besides hoping that Arikada shows up.

Personally, I'm not surprised that Inoue lost to Emiya in deception. Emiya is probs just that good

Also, this is neither here nor now, but I think we should return to make amends when the time comes. Personally I think pretty highly of Emiya, and I think she has similar moral goals for the world to our team in the long-term

Also because she wouldn't be expecting it.

She literally laughed at the idea of a missing-nin with ideals.

This is how we get pressed-ganged into serving yet another national power.

One that's contaminated with snakeitis, no less.

If we're going to make ammends then we need to do so on our terms, in a way, and at a time, of our choosing.

We should still reach out. And make amends of some sort in a timely fashion, because we did abuse trust.

Or else what's the point of even believing in practically improving the world, if we shy away the second things become inconvenient.

Mari, you are supposed to be an amazing Infiltration specced Jounin, why can a civilian get the better of you? By exploiting something as basic as you not updating your henge at that?

I'm starting to doubt Inoue now.

You guys are talking like this was a personal failing of Inoue's judgement, when this was Inoue being beaten in a Deception dice roll. A civilian mayor having enough Deception (maybe Awareness too for the bruises) dice to do that is extremely impressive and wasn't predicted by any of us, and the lost dice roll manifested in Inoue having a minor flaw in her disguise(?) and not bullshitting her backstory well enough to get through the interrogation.

"Ninja."

Cost-Benefit Analysis.

How much do we expect it to improve the world if we make up for having tricked the civillian woman versus how much trouble do we expect doing so to cause us?

Placing significant risk on our lives or freedoms to make one person feel better is not worth it. Therefore, if we decide to make her feel better, we must find a way to do so that does not place significant risk on our lives or freedoms.

I gotta say that I'm in agreement that we shouldn't immediately set fire to this agreement as soon as we achieve our goal. We are trying to make the world a better place, and I'm seriously liking this Mayor. If we get the capture, jetpacking our asses back to Konoha to deliver Arikada might take first priority because "AAAAGGGGHHHH MINIMIZE AMOUNT OF TIME AROUND UNCONSCIOUS BODY OF BIO-MOD TRAPPING SEALMASTER", but we should make this up to her. She may intervene on the Irie's leaking info on the three teenagers, and immediately betraying her will shockingly have consequences.

Name one instance of SV shutting down a quest due to some paltry child sacrifice.(I don't use SV becides for this quest and for all I know this is a common concern for moderators)

John Smith's illuminati quest.

Eh, I've recently read the birthing and ritual sacrifice of the protagonist's firstborn on this site. And it's not like we're gonna EVER abandon any future children we have in here. I'd actually rather have Hazou die before doing that.

I cannot reasonably see us returning to this town in the near-future because Zabuza. Sending a note or something, sure, but... yeah. No bueno. (e: On the other hand, as ChronOblivion mentions, if we kill her outside of town we're fine to come back in and apologize immediately)

Also can we get some of those anti-genjutsu and anti-mind control countermeasures, Mayor Emiya? Please? :D

Ugh, I'm beginning to agree with Kagome with regards to people. This mission is going to end in fire and death and I only hope it's for Arikada and not us. And why the hell does Nobby's disguise have a barrel? Really, Nobby? Frankly, I'd love to kill that old ninja but I doubt we'd be able to, so this'll be a no-fly zone for a while after we leave.

I agree with @faflec's initial response to this update.

To be fair, it has already been established that social skills are the one thing where civilians can actually compete with ninjas. Just look at the merchants we have bought stuff from or the noble Hazou met in Hot Springs. We also assumed that Emiya could beat Inoue in social skills, that was a big part why we voted in the being honest option. (Not that Mari actually followed our advice.)

She doesn't actually expect us to make real amends (EDIT: But I'm pretty sure she expects Mari to make amends). She just wants the chance to get a debrief on Arikada and keep us as a contact point for the future. Her whole stick is playing ninjas against each other and tapping them as a resource when needed.

Same goes for us. If things go well here and we don't murder all the civilians in town, we have her as our contact in Rice. If we ever need anything in the area, we can just approach her for information and help.

Of course, we have so utterly compromised our identities in this town that once we have our mitts on Arikada we skedaddle and don't look back.

Mari slumped in her seat. "Yes, my subordinates have a tendency to improvise with unpredictable effects. I'm sure that's never happened to you, mayor of Sarubetsu. Can we move on?"
Theres a tag line for the quest in there somewhere
"Oh, they're nervous about something to do with sealcrofting,"
The most dangerous kind of farming.
Side note: Mori's birthday is June 3. Right now it's late March/early April.

Might want to start thinking of stuff.
Will we have to plan our own birthday eventually?

Did Hazou get the designs of the two Seals at least? We should confer with Kagome about them at some point and see if we discover anything interesting (kinda like the preliminary analysis of the Casino seals)

Heads up that I will be largely unable to help plan, as am going to be at a retreat.

Should we make sure the pangolins pass on the creepy snake guy sighting and ask J to send an apology bouquet to Emi from Mari if we don't make it?

Good luck with that "socializing" with "real life people" thing.
[X] Lore Update

Less than a day to plan and no Oilywhale?

This can only end badly.
I would agree but the last time we asked for an omake we ended up with Zabuza on our ass. With our luck it'll end up that giving Eaglejarl time to plan against us ends up with Orochi-senpai literally in the town with us.

Noooo let EJ write a real update! Plus y'all need to re-learn to do it without me, I won't always be here (case in point)

Also Hazou definitely needs to call him "Orochi-chan" and "Orochi-senpai",if only because it'll be the only petty revenge we can achieve before our demise
