Noburi had survived in the wilderness, faced down enemy ninja of greater number and higher rank, and stood on air two thousand feet in the sky. He was no coward, right? Surely not. Yet, somehow, his knees were a little wobbly right now and his stomach was trying to emigrate.
*Screaming in Yuno*

Yuno had been blushing since the moment he stood next to her but now her face was so red it would have worried the medics. She leaned back slightly so she could see his face, but she did not seek to escape the circle of his thick arms, nor did she take hers from around him.
*Breathing calmly in Yuno*

"Of course," Yuno said, glancing at the clock on the wall. The gloaming was already upon them; she would be coming back in darkness even if she hustled.
Wait, the MfDverse has clocks? I wouldn't have expected them to exist in 13th century Japan.

Behind them, Kei's envelopes remained as unexploded tags that would either earn them two new recruits or a swarm of ANBU racing after them.
*Screaming in the polycule*

Nope. The whole point is that the Gōketsu don't want Miyuki reading the letters before the main family is way far away.
Why?!

Also, @Velorien, will Kei's letters contain whatever destinations we decide to go to?

Oh God, this is so unsafe, ahhhhhh. What if Itachi gets his hands on the letter and lays an ambush for us? What if they turn it over to Naruto and he can't convincingly get out of laying an ambush for us? How are we supposed to collect them without exposing ourselves to far too much risk?
I thought that was obvious to everyone by now.
If you specifically mean Vel's PC, yes. Yes it has.

Send a summon. IIRC they're range-unlimited, we can summon one twenty kilometers away, tell it to tell them to move to a second location, then move another twenty kilometers in a random direction while the summon is on its way to them.

Hm. I suppose if someone is shadowing them, they can just follow them to the second location too.

Uhh.

Have the second location be in the middle of the sky, full visibility for kilometers in all directions, with a second summon there to verify they're not being shadowed? Um.

Have them Skywalk from Skytower #1 to Skytower #2 which is a massive distance (give them Skywalkers), so that anybody following them has to remain airborne to readily follow them. Position ourselves at some point between the Skytowers (EDIT: not directly under the path they take) such that we can see them moving via telescope, but because the distance between the two is so large attempts to observe the ground to find our concealed location is functionally impossible. We therefore gain knowledge of their status (tracked vs. not tracked) while minimizing the risk of being spotted.

Of course, there's the option of not contacting them.

I dont think any of them get much out of it atm but yes, teach it to Yuno.
I'm not saying that teaching it to Yuno is unimportant but let's try to prioritize a bit, maybe?

Satsuko can potentially be bargained with and could plausibly defend us from Hidan. More to the point, we can offer them and all other sentient weapons full citizenship in the Village Actually Hidden in the Clouds, You Stinking Stinkers.

But what if Itachi "the broadest range of esoteric techniques" Uchiha is invisible and is following them on Skywalkers?

Man, I'd concluded the previous paranoia was unwarranted, but its dismissal specifically relied on the Akatsuki having no reason to expend cognitive effort and nontrivial resources on something relatively low-priority that might not even become an issue. If they detect the rest of the Gouketsu going missing over the course of the day, and beeline for Tenten/Miyuki, and discover this clear opportunity to catch us, they likely would actually expend some nontrivial effort to ensure they can tail them. I have no idea how we can be confident in defeating that.

The one saving grace is timing. The two would read the letters at worst at morning. Nobody might notice the Gouketsu absent until the next day, they'd likely to just wonder "huh, haven't seen them around today" rather than immediately jump to "they've gone missing!", then it might take some time for the Akatsuki to become aware (unless Itachi is still hanging around Leaf), and then the Akatsuki might not instantly leap to taking Tenten and Miyuki, specifically, as hostages (as opposed to pressuring Naruto, or bullying the remaining Gouketsu, or going after Shikamaru/Ino).

OTOH Naruto, who will be alerted much sooner, will be pushed into sending out actual people earlier. They might not be Itachi-tier bullshit but they'll be Jonin.

It's worth noting that true invisibility is the domain of a specific bloodline that Itachi lacks, so he's not likely to be able to do this. He probably does have decent stealth boosters and decent stealth, but is it enough to beat Mari with a telescope in broad daylight? I don't think so

You fool, Itachi already replaced himself with the telescope three days ago

(Think we were told genjutsu-via-telescope doesn't make sense when we tried to weaponize it with Mari before, but who knows maybe Itachi put a lil something together)

I do think that Akatsuki probably doesn't know or care about who Kei's lovers are to the point of making a beeline to them. I do believe they can and will find out quickly, but I do doubt it's the kind of information Itachi just has on hand.
