Regarding Max and the auction, a trip to go shopping in New York shouldn't trigger his dislike of roughing it in the far corners of the world unless something goes unforeseeably, hilariously wrong.

So, you know, probably a solid 60% chance he ends up liking the trip! Pretty good odds, I'd say.

Whatever Kranz happens to be packing, it is different to Coyote's trait, tho. Coyote does not have expanded range for exploding dice, which Kranz does.
It's not clearly worded, but Coyote's trait does expand his explosion range:
Joking Around: Toons add a certain spice to life that few others can match. Any roll this unit is assigned to will automatically have the crit success threshold lowered by 10, but the critical fail threshold increases by 10 as well. If a roll has a critical fail threshold higher than its DC, the DC remains unchanged but any roll below the DC becomes a critical failure.
The "critical success threshold" mentioned here really means the "critical threshold", which is the dice explosion threshold. A prime example of this is the action which led to Princess CJ's creation:
[ ] Improve administrative efficiency
DC 70 (Reduced by XP)
95+55 (explosion reroll)+24+22+4=202
Critical Success
Which we'd assigned Wile E. to and which, as you can see, exploded on a 95.

No one ever built a knowledge-vault with a diving board so they could swim in knowledge.

No, but they used the money their knowledge bought them to do so. Scrooge is, after all, "smarter than the smarties."
I accept that the internet contains data. Knowledge, however....
The only Digimon work where they live on the internet is Applimon. In and out of universe it is known that Applimon and Digimon are comprised of different things.
...I am quite frankly amazed Kranz lasted as long as he did.

It was funnier for him to do so.

Xanatos isn't hosting the auction, he doesn't control what time it happens.
While the first part is true, I'm not sure about the second, he could probably control the time if he wanted to.

But I think reading too deeply into "the auction is during the day" is probably a bit silly. Lots of stuff takes place during the day. On average, I'd expect any random event to take place during the day.

Mkay..... Time to do something good for max...

I am thinking big bounty and a promise not to send him so far away and an apology. Maybe give him right to veto options outside of emergencies?

Well. That was unexpected.
I'm not worried about taking Max to the auction, since the trait is described as "greatly dislikes going on quests to the far reaches of the Earth!" New York is much more in his wheelhouse. Plus, as mentioned, we'll have Vanessa with him to help balance out Janna. With that said, we should probably do 'Chat with the Bossman' with him next turn.
Finally,

Wow, I used the Abridged Anderson v. Alucard as a joke. I didn't mean for it to become the baseline for the fight (And. attacks, Alu. holds off impressively and seems to be getting close to victory, only for And. to come back and pull a fast and critical victory). I mean, I knew this fight would be funny in some sense, but Kranz doing as well as he did? Did not expect that. Sighed with relief once Khan started winning martial rolls again.

I like the meaning of Kaldun more, but Amur just rolls off the tongue far better.

As for Max, yeah, I think that as long as we keep him on city quests he might be more agreeable. To prevent losing him just in case, we could start looking into what happened to land PJ in jail a bit if we got time. It's on our to-do list and if we're working on it then that's incentive to stick around. That, or stick Technor and/or Talk with the Bossman on Max next turn. Gotta bond with our No. 1 Janitor's son and all.
