Plus as i pointed before, Khan could take over Cloverleaf as another tranportation industry and bring up to decent standards how toons are treated if we bring him in to deal with Doom.

You received a letter a couple days ago from Xanatos, inviting you to an 'auction for esoteric crafts' that would be taking place later in the year in October. You might want to set aside some time for that if you're interested in going.

Honestly, we knew that one was coming ever since Davids PoV during Goofys talk with him mentioned such a possibility, but it´s still nice that he seems to really reach out to us a bit. I am not saying that he doesn´t have some ulterior motives (it´s David Friggin Xanatos, guys - that guy got plans within plans on top of plans), but I think right now he merely wants to see how we react to getting hit by the full force of a secret magical world and draw his own conclusions, not use that auction to quietly dispose of us. After all, until now all our contacts with him were at worst neutral and at best rather benign, with no real toe-stepping happening in either direction. So yeah, we should go to that auction once October rolls around with only a light security detail to be on the safe side

Greatest Rival Shego seems to have done some digging into affairs concerning you. It's not spying in the industrial sense, she's not digging into corporate secrets or anything, it's more like she just wants to know what the heck is up with you. Due to most of your backstory already being posted online, and dozens upon dozens of posts from your employees concerning your day-to-day affairs, it seems like she was able to assemble a fairly accurate picture of your whole deal, though you're not sure if that's a good thing or a bad thing.

Yeah, that one was to be expected as well, because let´s face it: Aside from Xanatos (whom I already covered) and now Evelyn/Sinatron (more on that later), Shego is the one King that is starting to wonder just how incompetent and "below-notice" we actually are. It´s obvious that Shego went into that team-up expecting Doof to be another Drakken, who needed constantly to be babysat, lest his stupidity blow everything up and leave her to pick up the pieces. What she instead got was someone who - while definitely being a bit on the harebrained side - could actually keep up with her pretty well, came into that partnership with solid plans, getup and manpower and never once really was all that embarassing.

Now Shego just NEEDS to know what kind of guy we truly are and if we are friend or foe (her inner monologue flatout admitted that she needed to put us quite a bit higher on the friend/foe scale than we were before). I wouldn´t say that she likes or fears us now, but we definitely piqued her curiosity, maybe even her attention. So right now I am leaning towards calling her investigating us "a good thing" - just the right time to reach out to her in turn because of this doozy even:

Syndrome

Critical Failure!

Syndrome was caught on film today clearly attempting escape from the Sands Casino. Having healed from his injuries, Syndrome was seen attempting to escape the Sands making use of a cobbled together energy emitter and prototype rockets made in a casino with a box of scraps from his previous outfit. Unfortunately for him, the hastily constructed rocket failed shortly after breaching the Sands roof, sending Syndrome plummeting back to the ground. While what you are now almost completely certain is a 'Syndroid' was wheeled out shortly after to confirm the 'accident' had left him unharmed, there has been no sign of the real Syndrome since. It seems likely he has been taken underground, likely forever. The lord of Kronos has fallen.

Practically overnight, Kronos Corporation has reorganized under a new CEO. In a shocking development, the Kronos Board of Directors voted almost unanimously to declare Evelyn Deavor, previously in charge of the Devtech subdivision recently acquired by Kronos Corp, the new CEO of the technological juggernaut. Insider rumor is that the woman's control of the company has become ironclad with unprecedented speed. With Devtech having formerly been known for pro-cape sentiment, it is possible that Kronos will soon pivot away from its previous anti-super leanings.

The Kronos Corporation has finally recovered from the internal strife surrounding Syndrome's sudden disappearance by announcing its new CEO- Evelyn Deavor, formerly of Devtech. She is noted as having brought on Sinatron as an internal affairs advisor. It seems the robot recognized the futility of his current situation without outside aid, and decided to cut a deal. According to reports, the disruption at the Sands was nothing more than a way to develop buzz around the company and make it possible for Syndrome to quietly step down from active leadership while attention was elsewhere. Seeing as how there were no casualties, and that Kronos itself is now playing off the 'declaration for a Free Vegas' as a publicity stunt, there is very little to blame Sinatron for. Legally speaking he's committed no crimes, as the activities of AI are reflected back on their owner, and 'Syndrome' has publicly- if rather twitchily- proclaimed his acceptance of the move.

Now, that one has the potential to go really south.

Syndrome is all-but-certainly dead for good now and in his stead Kronos reformed behind Evelyn Deavor, whom I gathered by now is a different flavor of "Anti-Super" than Buddy, possesses mind-control tech, is a sneaky bint and - worst of all - teamed up with Sinatron (that being said, she might have simply enslaved him as well - would explain that "???: +30" at least). Having an advanced AI running a very charming personality matrix as Internal Affairs guy is bad enough, but one thing makes it especially stinky - *Sinatron knows that Doof was a big player in the Sand Fiasco* and if he is smart enough, he might realize that with Gwen running around, Shego had a hand in it as well.

This means that Evelyn now knows that Shego and a surprisingly competent Doof were instrumental in taking down Syndrome, up to and including swapping out his Palladium Chip for a virus-ridden fake - meaning that she has all reason to consider both of us dangerous opponents (provided of course, that it wasn´t her who tipped us off in the beginning - but even then, our great sucess should surprise her all the same). We definitely need to talk with Shego about that threat to both of us - worst case she appreciates the warning but decides to handle it on her own (which should still net us some goodwill with her), best case is that this is the beginning of this proposed "Alliance of the Semi-Sane" that has been thrown around as a way to combat Bill later on and that I am a big fan of.

The Philadelphia Mint was robbed of several hundred thousand dollars in antique coins and the die used to cast them by an unknown individual. The suspect, a costumed woman estimated to be in her early twenties with pale skin and white hair, began to sing as soon as SWAT members stormed the building. In a stunning turn of events the troopers stopped trying to detain her and instead helped her to escape not only the building but the city as well. When interviewed, members of the force stated that they didn't know what came over them and simply thought it was 'the right thing to do at the time'.

Somewhat concerning but since that´s on the East Coast, not really something we can do about without stepping on the toes of either David or DOR-15 (depending on where exactly Philadelphia is)

The Middleton nootropics ring has started to distribute its wares in the northern reaches of Texas through the extensive use of its network of drones. Reports indicate that in addition to the highly addictive nootropic substance, other drugs are being distributed as well, such as an injection that can supercharge or flat-out grant superpowers, even removing limits on previously existing ones, though it comes with a slew of nasty side effects such as power incontinence, mental degradation, or flat-out death.

DC 80

Critical Success

In cities surrounding Middleton, some of them as far out as the Kansas border, robots are becoming an increasingly common sight in abandoned buildings and factories. The oddly Aztec-themed constructs are not hostile unless engaged first, and while they're not much to write home about in combat- some videos online show thugs taking one on with nothing more than a baseball bat- they make up for that in sheer quantity. Whoever is making them clearly prioritizes numbers above all else.

Since Middleton is more or less Shegos capital, we might wanna offer our assistance cracking down on those problems. After all, to address the issue surrounding New!Kronos we need Shego on top of her game and not caught up housekeeeping. Plus we booted out crime in our territory pretty hard, so our inward forces would be free right now.

Yeah, we really should try formalizing a more long-lasting partnership of equals with shego for multiple reasons.

As for who might be behind those Aztec-bots, both ideas that came to me aren´t really workable.

- Tzekel-Kan doesn´t work because he is DVV-Classics-exclusive and since some hate cross-pollution of systems, he can´t appear here
- Ernesto de La Cruz is also unlikely since A) he never showed any interest in influencing the Living World like that and B) where would he even get that tech in the first place?

Khan Industries

DC 100

Decent Success

Khan Industries recently issued a press release detailing how they are moving forward with serious research into the field of nuclear fusion. CEO Shere Khan explained that he was inspired by his fellow industrialists' attempts to 'go green', declaring that his company would be perfectly willing to move with the times and modernize. He assured investors that oil would not be going anywhere as it is still a crucial commodity even when not being used as a fuel source. Preliminary reports suggest that scientists have made the first tenuous steps into unlocking the secrets of the process.

A bit surprising considering that Khans main economical focus are fossil fuels, but it does show that we might be able to mend bridges with him regarding the whole "Green Energy vs. Old Ways" issue. With that in mind, I consider this a net positive for our Alliance plans, although we might wanna reinforce our Greevil power to not get booted out of the sector entirely.

Great Success

A new cape made a name for himself in the regions of eastern Nevada, not by committing several robberies of banks and jewelry stores, but by the way he responded to his attackers. The individual appears to have the ability to control and amplify electricity within a large radius, disabling any human pursuers with a form of paralysis that wore off minutes later. His response to incoming Omnidroids was to vaporize them from the inside. Kronos higher-ups report that the amount of energy required to do this is not insignificant, and while some commend the villain for holding back against human enemies, many are concerned as to what would happen if he doesn't.

A net positive for us, since Nevada is Evelyns turf and therefore she will be a bit occupied trying to adress this threat.

Great Success

Mayor Bellwether of Zootopia publicly donated a significant chunk of her last annual salary to the memorial fund for Judy Hopps, an officer killed in the line of duty by a predator gone feral. The fund is dedicated to protecting more prey animals from the ever-present threat of predators.

So we at least have an idea how things went down in that story...Bad (since it politically reinforces the schism between preds and preys), but nothing we can do anything about right now.

Doomtown
[ ] Blame Toons for Everything Going Wrong
DC 80

Bare Failure

Judge Doom's attempt to blame everything on the native Toon population of LA did not go over as successfully as he presumably hoped. While there were several legitimate concerns with the state of Toons in LA, the mayor was a bit too emphatic to blame them for things they had absolutely no control over for the sort of massive lynch mob he was hoping for. Still, he seems to have laid the groundwork for a larger-scale defamation campaign in the near future, having stirred up a few grumbles of discontent without actually succeeding in what he was trying for.

We might be able to capitalize on that with our pro-Toon stance, creating even more goodwill with them than before. That being said, demagogues like Doom will not stop spewing their shit even though their ship is sinking and so, he likely will still need a push from us to really get bad-ended.

Britta's Tacos was demolished today in what authorities are calling a 'freak burrito accident'. Police were quick to cordon off the area.

Since this Taco stand apparently was sitting right on top of some kind of magical gateway-or-whatever, I think that Toffee was somehow involved. But until further notice, we can´t really do anything there.

Looks like Zootopia ended badly. Good thing to because if I have to watch that movie one more time I will commit a warcrime. Fucking nieces man, why not something amazing like Mulan, Pocahontas or Lion King. But nooooo those are old person films this is a kids film now.
So good she's dead, that feels great. At least she contributed more after her death, because at least that will be something.

Woah...lay off the unneeded hatred for Judy, please.

Not necessarily, if she just chosen not to go back to Zootopia Bellweather still would've won and she'd be fine

Yeah, honestly I´d have preferred a timeline where Judy simply didn´t get to start her investigation because of how frankly doomed from the start it was considering the evidence situation...Would have allowed both her and Nick to come back with just a little outside help from us, maybe.

But Judy getting killed by Nick (he wasn´t named in the update, but we all know it was him back at the Museum) was just too good a kickstart for Bellwether to not use in the end.

Could the Aztec stuff have anything to do with the emperor's new groove?
Nope. While Emperor's New School does have some modern stuff like disco and radio, it is still supposed to be set in the Incan Empire long before the European Colonization of the Americas. DVV Classic handles pre-1950s stuff and normal fantasy, while DVV Gridlocked handles 1950s+ and deals more with urban fantasy and sci-fi (barring a few examples otherwise).

Some appear in both, like Shere Khan, and it's set only 500 years ago. Magical longevity, descendants, etc. could be the explanation.
Nope. This version of Shere Khan was pulled from TaleSpin which is set roughly around the 1930s. It's one of those examples I mentioned above about being put in because of the themes matching Gridlocked more than Classic.

What Museum? I can't seem to find it.
The museum at the end of the Zootopia movie. At the end of the movie, Nick and Judy figure out Bellwether was at the head of a conspiracy to strengthen fear against predators so that "prey" species would rule dominant in Zootopia. She cornered them in the ancient predator vs. prey exhibit and tried to shoot Nick with a dart that would have made him become feral and attack Judy. She failed in the movie, but probably succeeded and had Nick maul Judy to death here judging by the memorial.

I feel like there isn't a modern Disney property that uses Aztecs, Mayans or the like.

So, either it's an OC, it's a villain from outside Gridlocked's time period to fill the relative lack of South American villains to draw from in the modern period, or it's a relatively obscure work we're gorgetting about.

It could be yet another thing from the mainline Disney comics (meaning the Disney classic cartoon ones) that a lot of us just aren't thinking of or haven't read of before.

So, one detail I don't think people have really commented on - Xanatos' seat of power is on the East Coast, specifically in New York, but he also has all of Alaska. Which is probably where a lot of his actual industrial capability is, what with how built up the East Coast is compared to Alaska. It also means that he probably has a not decent degree of leverage to shove the oil markets around - which might help explain why he seems to be on neutral terms with Shere Khan, because neither has the influence or resources to completely muscle the other out of business without leaving themselves open to their adversaries or other threats in the regions they call theirs - see also DOR-15, Doom, and the Zaibatsu(s).

Yeah, that´s another reason why I was very wary of the prospect of Xanatos being hostile towards us - with his holdings both in Alaska and on parts of the East Coast, he could relatively easily stage a covert pincer attack against us - as history teaches us, being on the receiving end of a pincer maneuver (especially a well-coordinated one like would be expected from someone like David) is never fun to deal with.

Luckily, events have happened that made him rather well-meaning towards us, meaning that him pincering us has become rather unlikely to happen (provided we don´t piss him off again)

What Museum? I can't seem to find it.

Even so, she probably didn´t expect the team of Doof and Shego to be that sucessful in taking down Syndrome. She probably simply wanted to slam Kronos´ biggest rival (Shego) as well as tht weirdo to the south into Syndrome and simply gobble up all three after they ripped apart each other (including hoping for Doof and Shego to backstab each other and become even weaker).

Us two actually suceeding to that extent that Doof now owns the Chip and Shego was able to capitalize on it for her pro-Super agenda - not to mention that we didn´t betray each other in the end - definitely backfired on Evelyn at least a bit.

Maybe something to do with the Gilded Man? He was in the Ducktales comics before showing up again in the 2017 reboot.

Otherwise it's probably some other oneshot villain, whether a mad scientist or an ancient menace. There are a lot of them strung through different comics and cartoons.

That does remind me. I still don't get quite why Dr. Facilier is considered more fitting for Classic than Gridlocked. One of the bigger things with "Urban Fantasy" to me is the idea of magic hidden beneath your nose in a modern life, a bit like American Dragon Jake Long has it. Setting-wise, I couldn't even imagine Dr. Facilier alongside Ursula and Hades to the same extent I would, say, a Snow Queen Elsa or however Frozen is integrated. It's not just the fact that it is set in the late 1920s, since Frozen takes place roughly mid-19th century yet I mentioned I feel it fits well enough with the other Classic members. It's more the issue of how magic interacts with the world in that movie compared to the others.

The design certainly seems to fit, and it is a robot. You might be on to something there. I can't confirm or deny though since I still haven't watched past the first season of the reboot yet :p

Honestly Evelyn being the is somewhat calming for me, because even if we were more successful that she thought, or attack didn't come out of nowhere so we wont look as unstable. Though diseased lunatic probably isnt gonna work against her.

Nothing stops Doof from looking into small events in a rivals domain. DVV Gridlocked doesn't deal with actual kingdoms, but instead megacorps having dominating influence in areas. DEI can and does sell goods outside the tri-state area. The "kingdoms" are a left over from classic and really just show where the companies or hazards have dominating influence.

Small scale stuff like Doof taking a trip to New York and seeing every show on Broadway can happen without Xanatos knowing and/or caring. Goofy has been on road trips accross the USA in quest and it hasn't been a big deal.

The "kings" aren't wagging a all out war, but a shadow one. They keep up the masquerade of the US Government out powering them as it benefits them all to keep that masquerade. They fight in the shadows with mercenaries and compete in markets for dominance. DVV Gridlocked is Shadowrun with Disney characters. Doof Quest is as well, but from the point of view of a MegaCorp owner.

If you're building a army and attacking a rival in a full blown war then you're messing with the masquerade which angers all of the kings and the US Government.

Diseased Lunatic from Danville: Most everyone thinks you're a moron who somehow managed to luck into a position of power, but some movers and shakers are starting to reconsider. Any Intrigue actions made against you or DEI have their DC increased by 20 points.
I don't remember if that "reconsider" part was always there (or at least has been there for a while) or if that is recent.
