Is this supposed to cover while Hazou is recovering from Milds? Otherwise we need to do Sealing.

Also I worked it out and @Twinnstars 's plan of destructively ending ES will cause Hazou a Medium and Mild Consequence. Not something I'm interested in while we have necromancy to research. We don't have time to waste.
As you may want to note in the plan, by default Hazō will not in fact be breaking the jutsu destructively, as I listened to you the first time you voiced this concern.

If you don't care when people address your concerns they're less likely to.

If you wouldn't mind, could you provide more detailed feedback? Rereading the action plan, it seems to be sufficiently "high stakes" that I would think it would normally merit some excitement?

I suppose the "preparations" could have been clarified to "offscreen preparations," but I also know that you've expressed minor discontent for when the playerbase does that (sourced below), so... I guess that I'm just not quite sure how else we could have approached this?

Speaking for myself, it's complicated. As a general rule, I dislike being given mandates about how and when things must be done. I'm generally fine with "This stuff doesn't need to be onscreen" lists, but I get grinchy when given "do this offscreen." These are emotional reactions and then I manage them intellectually, applying principles of charitable reading and etc. Still, those are the sorts of things that put my hackles up.

I would like to finish a seal for once without stopping in the middle so I'd rather do Directional Explosives. Literally one cycle left on them

works ig, I'll cut words somewhere
I think it's important to have Cannai's eyes on the experiment. He has senses that can interact with stuff we can't, doubling up on sources of intuition in case I'm *close* but not quite right.

We could invite cousin or a Hyuga I guess, but Cannai 1. Has better eyes and 2. Deserves screentime

If you'd actually listened to me, we wouldn't be doing at all.

As it is, I consider not jumping in headfirst and doing it on a whim the bare minimum, yeah.

This idea has very little chance of working and I don't think taking a ton of time testing it or even worse, getting injured testing it is a good plan.

We are literally racing Sasori to be first to the afterlife.

Here's a different spin on how to handle Yuno. Feel free to take it apart for parts.

[X] Action Plan: Yuno, You Know?
Word count: 276
  • Yuno
    • Tone: Empathetic, open, taking her seriously.
    • Talk under OPSEC at earliest opportunity.
    • Apologize
      • Hazō's stressed due to juggling Asuma and Hidan and witnessing innocents murdered, but that's no excuse to dismiss his sister in law when she shares something so important to her.
      • Hazō genuinely dislikes killing innocents and civilians.
      • Yuno's well being matters to Hazō.
    • Jashinism
      • The Hokage and Leaf Clan Heads consider it an illegal heresy against the Will of Fire. The Gokētsu can't be seen supporting it. Asuma only tolerates what he believes to be Hazō pretending to manipulate and survive Hidan.
      • Hazō cares about Uplift and about his family more than about Jashin. Yet he has witnessed Jashin's favor and so has Hidan. They both concluded that Jashin approves of Hazō's goals to increase population and welfare. Jashin is also a god of births and that's the part Hazō most cares about.
      • What about Yuno? What priority does Jashin take compared to her Clan? Her husband?
      • What does she know? Jashin's symbol is used in Isan. His teachings resonate with her in a way they don't with Hazō.
      • Talking to Snowflake might be a good idea. Let Hazō feel her out first?
  • Snowflake
    • Meet privately. OPSEC.
    • Hidan converted Yuno. Yuno wants to convert Snowflake. How do we handle this? We don't want to lose Yuno.
    • Share everything Yuno said.
      • Don't seem to be actually entertaining Jashinism as a religion.
    • How do we approach Noburi with this?
    • Involve Mari?
    • Follow suggestions.
  • Attempt 3D sealing using one material (diamond?) to form chakra pathways inside another (corundum?); like putting ink on paper.
    • Consider infusing it without withdrawing chakra from "ink"-analogue. (Maximal safety precautions!)

[x] Action Plan: Forbidding the Lore Just Means You're Not There When They Learn It
Word count: <300
  • An experiment:
    • Under max-OPSEC conditions, arrange a ritual space.
      • Make the room freezing-cold using seals. (Buy from Harumitsu.)
      • Create a circle decorated with the Mori Clan symbol. Place large pieces of ice around it.
      • Prime diagnostic seals to measure potential esoteric occurrences.
    • Meditate within the circle. Touch the Out.
      • Think about pessimism, lack of agency, learned helplessness, flawed plans...
    • If you successfully contact the Mori entity, withdraw for now. Use an Ami-like mindset as a defense:
      • Hyper-agency, laughter/mockery directed at the entity, optimism.
      • Fire and warmth (memories of Mari's aura — Kei described it as the opposite of everything she is).
      • Ami once said that [the entity?] doesn't get to control her because it's more real than she is.
      • Absolute Resolve.
  • Bring Yuno on beast extermination.
    • Engage Jashinism seriously, but remain authentic.
    • Apologize for lashing out.
      • Leaf's culture isn't friendly to Jashinism. Public support would cause backlash, decreasing Jashin's influence...
      • ... plus there's some natural tension between your Jashinism and Hidan's.
    • Explain Jashin's "balance", and the Birth/Death aspects.
      • You believe Death is currently overrepresented: humanity is tending towards extinction, which Jashin doesn't want.
      • Hidan largely concurs, believes Jashin supports your Uplift. Clearly-supernatural occurrences (Bakuchioka) confirm that.
      • Thus, your branch's role is protectingcivilization, and killing exclusively those entities that harm it.
        • (Be inspiring here: attempt to re-aim her newfound fervor towards safe & productive ends.)
    • Probe Yuno's knowledge. Did Isan have Jashin-relevant lore? His symbol was present at her wedding...
      • Any idea who cut out his tongue? Or why he "made the Sage bleed"?
      • Is him and the 'King of Hell' the same entity?
  • Attempt 3D sealing using one material (diamond?) to form chakra pathways inside another (corundum?); like putting ink on paper.
    • Consider infusing it without withdrawing chakra from "ink"-analogue. (Maximal safety precautions!)

Maybe you should make a new plan? The indicated section is Shrooms' entire plan.
Sure, I guess.

We are literally racing Sasori to be first to the afterlife.
The process will literally take less than an hour to test Stompy, and if Hazō gets injured it'll be after his own instincts tell him that he'll be safe - which is a huge amount of information on its own. That information is something I'd be willing to pay the theoretical medium, aka ~2 weeks of slow research, for.

Yeah. We're racing Sasori to the afterlife and there's an entire *field of sealing* that we're on the edge of being able to use. That's a huge advantage and it's baffling that you want to ignore it.

I made a testable hypothesis and want to test it. Your argument that it is unlikely to work is unconvincing, since you've got just the same ethos as me but have presented no logos. Let the experiment decide who's right.

Make the room freezing-cold using seals.
We would either have to buy these seals from Harumitsu, or research it, ourselves... both of which would likely take up a scene.

Now, if we're going to buy Harumitsu's seals, I say that we do more than just give him a bunch of money. Let's give him one of our seals in exchange, the notes thereof, and then help him research it (which would allow Harumitsu to tag Hazou's honking big sealing AB). Harumitsu is a good kid, he's our student, and he deserves to have more positive male role models in his life than Ritsuo.

We could give him Macerator v2? It's low-chunnin difficulty, iirc, so it should be within Harumitsu's abilities (especially with the notes, a copy of the seal, AND our help).

It's not a full Macerator v3, but it's something that would be useful and boost Harumitsu's standing within the Hag Clan even more.

Regarding giving him a seal + notes: what are the rest of the thread's thoughts on that?
I do want to stress that we don't have to give him any of our Big Shinies (like anything from the Chakdar or ARS tech trees). Simply giving him Macerator v2 (a minor improvement on the already public Macerator v1) should be enough.

[X] Action Plan: Experimental Frenzy, AMI edition

386, still pending words

Attempt to create a 3d Seal via the doping method, do the following (potentially offscreen) beforehand.

•Invite Cannai to spot, do the experiment with him if he says yes.
• check in with Kagome. Thank him for helping Hazō get his head on straight. Sanity check the doping method for creating 3d seals, design security methods together. If Cannai agrees to help, taking a teleporting superdog into account.
•share our research queue, requesting his help with one of the lines of research.

~~~~~
Reconnecting with Yuno
Request a boring-for-Yuno chakra beast hunt from Asuma and do some Till-n-Fills on the way. Take the one on one time to apologize for being brusque - we have our own relationship with Hidan, and hadn't had enough time to process hers. He's wrong on some things however, and those things are worth being upset about. There's a reason we're supposed to be the one dispensing theology.
•Ask for hair advice
~~~~~
At the next game night, slip Ami a note requesting a dance after the party.

Earthshape a copy of the map that Ami's dance seemed to recreate, and offer her a dance on it.

When Hazō gets the lead in the conversation tell her frankly that he's worried about making an enemy of her or other Thinkers because of the decisions he's being forced to make. If Hazō can't know, he needs to at least know the map of what he can't know.

•wear an Isanese braid that says "interested but mourning, and unable to take a suitor due to Tapir feeding duties". Bring this up when appropriate.

~~~~~
Rather than shadow clone training, Hazō feels it is important to prioritize also researching the following seals, following Hazō's intuition on prep:
SSA1(with Kagome): Fourfold Seal of Preservation modded to break stagnancy if close, then Chakra Adhesion Triggered multiple Action Relay Seals, or CATEARS, then Jiraiya's substitution seals
SSA2. The minato seal line, until incomprehensible TH gibberish, then Directional explosives, followed by rocket boots, followed by Reusable Rocket Boots.
3. Mod Jiriaya's boo seal into Hazō yelling "RUN"
4. Earth Pillar (Construct) seal, followed by a mod to make the created stone real, then the City of Earth seal.
Spend a prep day on the following, and if the seal is Genin continue to work on it following Hazō's intuition:
1. The ZAP seal
2. Monuments to the Thunder God
3. The Greatshield seal
4. THE PUNCH SEAL
5. The Bubble Shell seal
6. ARS mod which lowers difficulty to learn/create but provides no benefits to learning MARS
7. The Minatoerator
8. Anti-Byakugan seals (Tower)
9. Anti-Byakugan seals (Jiraiya)
Timeskip for a week or until the seal research log is finished, whichever is longer. In downtime, create shodō pieces about Akane
Just start touting uplift more, and then when Hidan comes back, we can just be like "What do you think Uplift is if not birth-side Jashinism?"
Yeah, that seems like the obvious move/reading to me. I'd been surprised Hidan himself didn't make that connection, and instead expected us to set up sacrificial temples in Leaf or whatever. Kinda close-minded of him, tch.
[x] Action Plan: Forbidding the Lore Just Means You're Not There When They Learn It
Fuck you Shika, you can eat a bag of dicks
So what did we learn from this update?
  • Shikamaru will never give us lore even if we try to wrangle it out of him with our resident social-spec jonin, and/or
  • Mari won't social-fu other clan ninja into submission during a meeting. I guess we didn't ask but wasn't it implied?
  • Orochimaru was right. Intimidation is the best social stat when you need to squeeze lore out of pesky rats.
[X] Training Plan Hazō: Handwriting practice
[X] Action Plan: Sealing Stagnancy
Word count: TBD
  • Noburi assigned temporary clan head.
  • Hazō Prime and SCs max prep for sealing research.
    • SSA next Minato Seal
    • SSA long-range person tracking seal
      • Array
      • Blood required
      • Stationary
      • Startup time
      • Have Hazo-pilot add complexity until challenges stagnancy.
    • No SSA Directional Explosives.
  • Accept Asuma's offer to arrange a TH tutor.
    • Ask Kagome if he is willing to join.
    • If so, pay for the additional tutorship.
    • Have a SC attend lessons.
I don't want to be tied to Jashin. If Jashin proves hostile to humanity, to Hazo's family and friends, Hazo shouldn't hesitate in opposing Jashinism. And he should tell Yuno the same.
I think it's important to have Cannai's eyes on the experiment. He has senses that can interact with stuff we can't, doubling up on sources of intuition in case I'm *close* but not quite right.
Making seals in the 7th path is explicitly forbidden by the sage, and the clans take that very seriously. We should not propose this to Cannai if could plausibly involve making a seal.
Also, is there a reason you aren't useing the standard formatting on your plans? It makes them harder to read, at least for me.
Snowflake is Kei without the depression and most of the inappropriately-directed rage issues
Let's not tell that to her face :p although, I've always been curious(/offended) of Kei's rage issues. Was there ever a theory of why FS caused this? It sounds to me like an indirect effect of FS through the psychological trauma it is causing in Kei, but I'm still confused even with this explanation.
Except when she gets—distracted."
Snicker. Yeah, distracted with... Oh. OH. Dammit, after Yuno let's not forget to give hugs to Mari and all the other people who need it.
Okay, HOLD THE PHONE. This is incredibly suspicious. This reads exactly like when Hazō gets hit by esoteric mind-affecting phenomena, or a dumb plan that asks him to divulge sensitive information (i.e. esoteric mind-affecting phenomena). But the plan made no mention of Gaku. There is little reason for Hazō to come so close to divulging these secrets of his own accord. And Gaku would be the perfect spy, for Asuma—who we already suspect has access to some kind of mind control—or someone else. I realize this is paranoid raving, but—it is Marked for Death, after all. They are out to get us.
If the QMs want to explicitly say that the trope of 'Hazō vents about sensitive information to Gaku' is merely a convenient literary device and we do not have to worry about him spying on us or betraying us, I'd say let them have their fun. But in the absence of that, Hazō's tendency to unnecessarily secrets to Gaku worries me.
[X][OPSEC] Need-to-know
  • Don't tell Gaku sensitive information except on a need-to-know basis
    • Hazō can vent to Noburi or someone else in the inner circle if necessary
  • Policy otherwise remains unchanged
Tbh that's exactly what I was thinking. Hopefully it was just to make a boring meeting chapter more engaging.
Also, we already have an Intelligence Council, it's time we kickstarted the CIC - Counter-Intelligence Council.
[X][OPSEC] Need-to-know
Yeah, big agree with this. With Hidan gone, the plan is mostly pointless, EJ didn't enjoy writing this, and we didn't even get to see the meeting with Shikamaru, Kei, etc.
It sucks for us, but could we have known IG? With the information we had, it made sense to have those meetings, so we can't seriously complain.
Meditate within the circle.
  • Touch the Out.
  • Think about pessimism
Scream in Constant Vigilance
Yuno's well being matters.
I'm nitpicking but could we make it more personal? Like, "Hazou cares about Yuno's wellbeing" or "Hazou wants Yuno feeling happy"
[X] Action Plan: Yuno, You Know?
[X] Treat Your Minions Right
[x] Action Plan: Forbidding the Lore Just Means You're Not There When They Learn It
So many plans, and I love them all. We are the list-making legion, we are the Hazous.
  • Bring Yuno on beast extermination.
    • Thus, your branch's role is protectingcivilization, and killing exclusively those entities that harm it.
      • (Be inspiring here: attempt to re-aim her newfound fervor towards safe & productive ends.)
    • Probe Yuno's knowledge. Did Isan have Jashin-relevant lore? His symbol was present at her wedding...
      • Any idea who cut out his tongue? Or why he "made the Sage bleed"?
      • Is him and the 'King of Hell' the same entity?
Fantastic plan. Why a beast extermination mission when a bandit hunt could make Yuno happier and help fulfil our quota? Although I guess we could always ask Yuno, since she is our Jashin Chaperone... Japerone ?
At the next game night, slip Ami a note requesting a dance after the party.
Earthshape a copy of the map that Ami's dance seemed to recreate, and offer her a dance on it.
That sounds like a LOT of fun, and we should do it. We probably don't have enough bandwidth to do it this update though.
Just a reminder yall it's treason for Hazō to take missions not directly through Asuma now. Please keep that detail in mind if you have a mission as part of your plan
"Seals?" Hazō asked. "I don't know if your prior Summoners used them much, and I'm not sure if there are any cultural taboos about it—the Pangolins had some, but they got over it."
"Yes, and their ability to get over their objections appears to have had positive outcomes for them and negative for everyone else. From what you say they are halfway through Hyena territory, meaning they will be on my borders at some point soon." He paused. "I have never actually seen a pangolin, Hazō. People on the Seventh Path rarely travel more than a single nation away, if that. These apparently warlike and xenophobic creatures will be coming to my watering hole soon, looking to expand their hunting ranges at the expense of my pack."
"...Yes," Hazō said, not knowing what else to offer. "Please recall that I shut down the flow of seals to them as soon as I could and I wanted to find a way to stop the warring. I'm prepared to offer you defensive measures, if that helps?"
"Defensive measures. The xenophobic warmongers gain weapons and shields, but we are to receive only the shields."
"No! I apologize, that's not what I meant. I don't want to start another war, but I do want to be helpful to you, and to prove my worth."
"You wanted to prevent war yet at the slightest hint of reproof you offer to give me the tools to conduct a campaign of my own."
"I..." He stopped and took a moment to master himself. Mari-sensei Rule #23: When you're in a hole, stop digging.
"I am having to balance conflicting needs and I will need time to find the best path," he began carefully. "I did not want to cause the Pangolin War and I did what I could to stop it. I don't want to start another one, but I also want to minimize the damage that I caused, and one way to do that would be to provide you and other nations with tools that can be used to defend yourselves but would be more difficult to turn to offensive use. I very much want to make a good impression on you and I'm struggling to find things of value that I can offer. I came here with absolutely zero idea what to expect; the family talked a lot about it but we had no clue what would be an attractive sales pitch. I can provide modest quantities of different foods that you probably don't have here. I have some jutsu that might be adaptable for you. I have whatever I can procure with human money, although you'd need to tell me what would be valuable to you. Mostly, however, the valuable thing that my clan has that few others do is seals. I can't offer skywalkers or skytowers, but I can offer a lot of useful defensive seals, utility seals, and small-scale weapons for defensive use. Tell me what I can do to be worthy of being the Dog Summoner and, so long as it does not compromise me with my family or my Hokage, I will see if I can provide it."
"A fair answer. Come." Cannai stood up and passed back the way Hazō had come, striding easily across the surface of the pond. He wasn't running but he wasn't walking either; Hazō had to jog to keep up with the dog's long-legged strides.
The pangolins get jumpy about seals. No one else really seems to care. @Left-Hand Mutant
