*is confused*

*googles ghosting*

Did we commit to a relationship with Ikeda? Like, at all? I thought we were just using her to cover for our OPSEC fuckup?
We were, it's worth looking into talking with her and other ninja more but we're not obligated. Hell last time Hazo talked with her he was faking being drunk.

Ghosting would be going out with her and actually having a good time then just never talking to her again. It happens to me a lot and it's not fun
Don't get me wrong, that sucks and people who do that are shitty, but in this specific situation we were straight up using her for OPSEC, that's done mission accomplished. I mean we're ninja, ninja being shitty and doing immoral things for the sake of their goals is pretty well established at this point.

Though at the same time, we don't want anyone to know that we were using her for OPSEC. Our cover story of just liking Ikeda and accidentally letting that slip is stronger if we carry it through to a regular-teenager-y end instead of something more unusual that might cast doubt on our actions.

Maybe I'm remembering wrong but didn't we start with a drunk dance "accidentally" revealing our bloodline's "secret", then set up a later date to "cover up" what we said at the party?

Again I'm actually all for continuing developing relations with a ninja from an allied village, I'm just saying we don't have to and no one is expecting we do.

You mean like being embarrassed and slinking off, a stereotypically teenager thing to do?

It would lend credence to the "Females are Hazou's kryptonite" myth, which would give some additional support to the situation at large.

At some level, it would also signal to outside observers that we -- an amateur (or so they believe) -- are very confident that we did not let a secret slip at all. This would be the typical amateur mistake in this situation, and would all but confirm "Kurosawa bullshit" as the true secret.

This would be very much in line with what the person we want Hazou to be pretending to be would actually do.

Regarding Ikeda:

@Cariyaga is right: we shouldn't involve ourselves too closely lest our lie will be uncovered. @MMKII is right: maintaining relations with useful people is important. @Inferno Vulpix has a point: cutting all contact with no explanation would look suspicious — especially if we'll then proceed to network all over the place.

So: just send her a letter telling we'd like to stay in contact. No face-to-face meeting.

A letter seems like a really weird compromise, at that point we might as well just keep talking to her.

I suppose we could try to send Nobby with a letter from us, under the pretense that "Hazou is like super fucking grounded really busy." and then he can chat them up for a bit.

No, we should use that compromised Mori courier who brought us Ami Letter #1. I don't believe I need to justify this suggestion any further.

New goal, get all of the Goketsu kids a date with Ikeda before Kiba gets one :p
I am not sure if Keiko has a type, but this one sets herself on fire to win matches so its not the worst sell in the world. /s

Our poor mother.

HANA: Looks like my son is getting married. Twice. And he didn't even stop by to talk to me about it.

...

HANA: I wonder what the clan whiskey reserves look like...

That reminds me, wonder how Akane is gonna react if Hazo does end up engaged to Ami.

Hazo: Akane, you're important to me. I'm sorry for how we've ended up making you feel left behind, and even though I didn't do right by you when we were together we still consider you one of our own. This is your home as much as it is ours, even if your not technically an official member, you're part of the Goketsu, and more importantly you're a member of team uplift. I will always want you to be part of my life and I don't want to lose you. Would you please come back to us?

Akane: H-hazo that's so sweet, of course I'll be there for you. You and the rest, I see you all as family too!

Hazo: That's good, then let's go back to the compound, the team would love to see you. Oh, and you can meet my fiance!

Akane: Yeah! I.....what

Hazo: oh right, I got engaged

Akane: what

Hazo: With keiko's 18 yr old sister

Akane: WHAT

Hazo: it was this whole thing, I'll explain later. Anyway, you'll like her!

Akane:......

Hazo:.....what's wrong?

Akane: we broke up like a month ago and you're already engaged with someone else?!

Hazo:....oh....crap

HAZOU: Yeah, I feel the same way. Look on the bright side.

AKANE: ...?

HAZOU: Neither of us are Keiko in this situation.

AKANE: ... that is... very true...

AKANE: Oh right, Keiko's sister. She's in danger and you married her to get her out of a possible death sentence, didn't you?

HAZOU: Wait, wha–

AKANE: And Keiko's OK with it?

HAZOU: ... As OK as you'd expect.

AKANE: Alright then. Some advice, though?

HAZOU: Yeah?

AKANE: You should probably wake up.

HAZOU: Huh?

AKANE: I said you should wake up.

Hazo: Gah! What a weird dream...

Zabuza: Hazo, go back to sleep

Hazo: yes dear

Noburi: What's up with Hazou? He's been yelling and twitching in his sleep the entire night.

Keiko: I may have put a couple mostly harmless herbs in his tea. Now we're even.
Hazo [muffled by door]: ooooh Zabuza, you're amazing with those sage-blessed hands of yours! So good~~

Noburi: Keiko what the hell?!

Keiko: I regret everything

Well, it's non-obvious that that's our reason, I think. Maybe we could spread rumors about it? Kiba sounds like a solid vector for information there.

She also just got the rest of her hair and half her face burned off. Nobody is going to think twice about a teenager whose last received message was, "impress me and we'll see" cutting things off.

To be fair, it was less than a week ago by Hazou reckoning.
