On Thread Etiquette:

I'm not going to weigh in on the logic of either side's arguments, but I will ask that everyone read over what they write and really consider if the words they used are polite and won't be inflammatory intentionally or not. You cant account for people's tolerances perfectly but at least try to say your piece without saying things that can be easily construed as overly dismissive of the other side of the argument, thank you.

Please endeavour to be cordial. :^)

Oh god, since we know runesmith blood has been tested as a reagent there just have to have been tests on everything else that could come from a runesmith, right? These are dwarves, there's no way they haven't been methodical about this if they started investigating it.

"Snorri Klausson, that enigmatic radical has announced he is paying, and I repeat paying! Any who comes into his workshop for their hair; whether they be plait or beard- From the hoariest of Elders to the most wazzok of BEARDLINGS! What madness has touched his mind, I do not know so long as it is for the good of all good Dawi and of Thungni's Kin, I shall abide. But I am sure as eating my boot if his professed eternal rival,Vrangni Svaltisson isn't doing anything as bombastic as his rival in response."

"Five gold says Silverbrand solves the North's Temple Storage Crisis caused by Klausson before the latter solves it himself. Those nifty stacking runes aren't gonna last from the sheer amount he's pumping out now ya know."

"Ten gold say's Klausson's gonna send toys to the Elgi within two centuries!"

If runemsith blood does turn out to be valuable but it requires large volumes (and possibly being concentrated/refined) to be usable, then we could have the slightly unexpected situation of it being the dwarves who invent Caludrons of Blood (to be used alongside regeneration runes), with runesmiths donating blood to be concentrated into essence.

Being very cynical this makes it more valuable to keep dwarves with too low talent to teach attached to runemsith clans, as even if their blood is lower concentration, quantity may be a quality of its own when it comes to having more warm bodies to donate blood inside the influence of a structural regeneration rune.

I'm betting the last trial is to repeat the exact task all Runesmiths start their apprenticeships with: carving a Rune of Stone.

It will be ironic that this way Dawi find out about blood transfusion and blood types. Like...it would be kinda hilarious not gonna lie.

More likely to learn more about the nature of the soul and whether you can transfuse spiritual energy between people, rather than actual blood.

There are some interesting possibilities that this line of research could open up. Things like having units of dwarves that effectively pool their health/vitality, allowing wounds to be transferred between them or meaning that they don't start dying until all their life force has been exhausted, at which point they all die at once.

Dangerous, but possibly very valuable to the dwarves particularly if you can throw a small number of healing items into the mix.

Depending on how heroes work, things like focusing a units essence into the front ranks might also do something, as might runes that try to augment someone's ability to regenerate their essence lifeforce/essence by drawing on the Aethyr.

They are in the chamber. Think of it that the Forge was at the far end opposite them, and that they could only get so close before having to stop. Karstah and Snorri were able to get right up to it.
I believe Dreng was stated to be included in the injured retainers being sent back to the surface, in a previous update, rather than with the retainers that carried on with us.

oh i just dislike the idea of the truth of things being shrouded behind the fog of history. I had basically the same reaction to Voikirium's omakes about how Snorri Klausson OBVIOUSLY didnt actually exist because his feats were so cool they must OBVIOUSLY be dwarven ego and myth
What's that, write a few dozen more, don't mind if I do! ;)

There is a MRune of hordeslaying which spreads damage across a formation on the rune list that already exists. So the inverse is definitely possible but I feel like that + something like the planned MMountainsouled banner or WtW as a banner just straight up makes a formation invincible until the banners are brought down.

Eh, we can wait to see how Snorri gets through the Concealment trial first. I suspect it's Gazul's blessing for the most part for Concealment, but his Windsight Eye has also gotten a decent amount of use in solving these various trials.

Well, this was a ton of fun to get caught up on. I tend to go feast or famine with my reading of things, in no small part because I find it a lot more comprehensible if I start at the beginning every time, which... yeah, this took a little bit to get caught up on. Now let's see if I can stay caught up...

Now to go get caught up on everyone's favorite Grey Wizard.

Also, love the kinda tiny offhand note of "career-oriented", which makes so much sense for Dawi.

Not with our current skill set.
Soulcake only knows if its even possible let alone how much research we'd need to achieve it.
Given that in canon the Dwarves run out of magic that powers Gronti's it would probably be a short lived society.

I think that it will require us to carve the rune of stone with our daughter. Rune of stone is first rune you are taught but more importantly it is also the first rune you TEACH. Which probably will stop a lot of other runsmiths because they probably didn't bring beardlings for something so important or even if they did they would not let them help.
