On Thread Etiquette:

I'm not going to weigh in on the logic of either side's arguments, but I will ask that everyone read over what they write and really consider if the words they used are polite and won't be inflammatory intentionally or not. You cant account for people's tolerances perfectly but at least try to say your piece without saying things that can be easily construed as overly dismissive of the other side of the argument, thank you.

Please endeavour to be cordial. :^)

If I'm not sold on using it I'm not going to vote to pick it up, based on the don't hoard mats directive.
I mean theres clearly a middle ground here guys. Youve already stockpiled 9 griffon brains(admittedly through no fault of your own). As long as theres a fair belief from you that you'll use it in the near future you can order it, even if it doesnt end up getting used for a while. Ill only step in really if I see you spam ordering stuff, which I dont think the thread would do.

Should we assume T4 creature ingredients (Say something from an Emperor Dragon) to, unless they're new and require research to uncover their secrets, work on the Runes their lessers do but with greater effect?

What are we going to do with those Griffon Brains? The only thing I see on the list is Master Rune of Currents. Just eventually make some weapons with that master rune?

Its basically in my mind a reason to experiment off and on with Master Runes of Currents runic combos over the next like three centuries or so.

Anyway now that I'm actually caught up and in the voting pool, great quest @soulcake .

This has been INCREDIBLY cathartic for me after having spent years looking at the Runesmith path of careers in 2e whfrp. I always wanna play one, but there's this whole problem where most campaigns I've been in tend to be run over the course of many sequential in game months with no downtime/timeskips, and I'd only ever get to spend time carving temporary runes again and again and again.

My poor hypothetical character is sitting over in the corner staring longingly at the stack of work he wants to do that would have him sitting out the length of an entire campaign three times over just to make a single permanent item. :V

huh idea for a major research project, you know those pictures made up of a lot of tiny pictures? what if we made a giant rune made from a bunch of tiny runes? I mean technically walls apparently do not follow the rule of three as we know with lighting runes

I mean, I would 100% be for using the 'understanding a master rune' action to study the master rune of currents. That would probably use up a couple griffin brains. It would also give us a great understanding of said rune, maybe even a way to adapt it into other things.

I don't actually know what a master rune of currents can be adapted into for talismans and such, but that's what the research option is for.

@soulcake does this mean we can order a small amount of everything needed for our current research topics?
We don't need to do that? All of our research projects materials are on hand.

That, is actually a pretty good idea and I have been wondering what a Master Rune of Currents would do if it was an Armor Rune or a Engineering Rune.

If we pick Oathgold up now, we can pick up something else later.

If we do nothing now, later we will fight over whether to get Oathgold or something else.

There is no opportunity cost to doing this now, other than losing the opportunity to later on make the argument "But we can't use that rune, it would take too long for the materials to get here." and if you consider that a true loss then making that argument in the first place would be dishonest, because if your true reason for not wanting to use the Master Rune of Grungni was a good reason, you'd simply use that argument instead.

Hence, there is no good reason not to vote:
