On Thread Etiquette:

I'm not going to weigh in on the logic of either side's arguments, but I will ask that everyone read over what they write and really consider if the words they used are polite and won't be inflammatory intentionally or not. You cant account for people's tolerances perfectly but at least try to say your piece without saying things that can be easily construed as overly dismissive of the other side of the argument, thank you.

Please endeavour to be cordial. :^)

We can use the storm while among our allies right now, as I understand it, it's just we have to use a far lower output than the maximum we're capable of.

So one of the big things is that this suggested path doesn't finish Akazit, need a third action somewhere across turns 48 or 49. This is something I promised the thread I was going to do eight or so months ago, and so I decided I'm not going to go for plans that don't finish it. That context aside.

I had to go back and check because I wasn't sure, but we can't spend Prods or Favor on Anoqeyan unfortunately. Be hella nice if we could.

Oh an update! I'll get back to you @rokafella in a sec.

Genuinely, we could try this again, without committing Snorri and better luck might save us. Out of 12 combat rolls on our side, we rolled three that were anything above average, and most of the rest were baaaaaaad. I worked this out while the rolls were being made but if we had had *one* extra loss cancel we could have potentially made this battle a wash for both sides.

This is what we had.
Round 1: 2 Wins, 1 Loss
Round 2: 2 Losses, 1 Win
Round 3: 3 Losses, 0 Wins

If we had had one (1) loss cancellation stored from Round 1, we could have made Round 2 a Tie. This would make the round pattern a Win, Tie, Loss. And all it would take would be winning Round 1.

Committing Snorri, I'm uncertain if its a good idea. The bonus they gain would have to equal the bonus we gain for it to start being a bad idea. Hypothetically they could get to +40 or more from it due to a combination of lingering dead from winning the prior battle and formations freed up.
Probably should clarify a few things. 1 When I was referring to Akazit, it was with the Knowledge, every time we do material research, and complete it, it gets added to Akazit. Considering if both the eye, and FrostBird were done, then those Procs would make up the AP sent instead for Anoqeyan. I didn't mean to suggest not finishing it, by all accounts, we could still finish Akazit Part 1, on Turn 49. It just wouldn't have 3 AP sent in.
And 2, I did not mean to spend Favour or Prods on Anoqeyan, I meant spending favor, without AP to try and finishing Rune Metal Part 5, and that AP instead, sent to Anoqeyan. The Prods, likewise, were not spent on Anoqeyan, but on Movement of Things, by switching out 1 AP, for Proding, and the other still sent for Movement of Things. That would enable, another Action to be spent finishing Anoqeyan, before turn 52.

Well it is Nurgle it was expected there would be some trouble the rolls did not help but it was expected

I am split between going futher and a tactical retreat

One hand we need to prepare with the banner and extra runelords

On the other this is nurgle letting them entrence futher is a very very bad idea plus any time the mearghs has to futher there work here that is cleary preparing for giving this land over to chaos and defilling the works of the olds ones is not good mojo

So lets continue for now and leave the blood and changer ones for next season

Regarding the snorri question at one hand the Throng could use that bonus at the other hand we where cleary the focus that bleed fimir here

So Going to the Throng may leave them to get the full brunt of it and come in a worse postion so it may be better we head before hand and smash them with our storm

While the throng watches the flank and rear and any that escape us

Anyway going back to things, it looks like Colony Support from the Retainers won't be needed for a while. That frees up a lot of their activities and makes it easier to distribute them to other priorities, a lot.

You're suggestion to do Movement of Things with Yorri around is a good idea though and does stand as a very valid alternative to doing chains on 48. Could just swap chains from 48 to 49.
Wait, chains? That was for turn 49 after chains were already finished and the 2 AP spent on trying to do Movement of Things in 49?
Edit: Nevermind, I see the confusion has gotten Cleared up.
kek, snorri and his 300 spartans (with runes to turn them into pseudo grontis) fighting in the storm/shade :V
There's a reason, why I was such a big Supporter of maxing out at 300!

That is a very good point about the material research procs actually. The Fimir Eye at least I would think has a solid chance to give more to Akazit. And thank you very much for clarifying that does make your intent much easier to understand.

[ ] [Campaign] Retreat: Fall back, rest, recuperate and prepare for the foe. Return to normal turns, go through the Rune Trades. Both sides are able to prepare for the next round of conflict, and efforts to bring in Valma and Igna will be made by the Dwarfs.

I think it's time, both in IC terms and OOC, to stop the fighting and move onto big list of things to do. Perhaps we'll be able to come up with something in the interim that can help deal with the Nurglite city.

[x] go home and hire elves as mercenaries.

... honestly not the worse idea?? not the one from the colonies but from ulthan or something... I am pretty sure it a not buttt @soulcake is this a plausible option? (obv it be decided by the kings/leader of the campagin not us) but is it plausible?

[ ] [Campaign] Push on: Strike once more, attack, hopefully break through and destroy the next Fimir City. Campaign continues. Losses from this point will not be replaced before the campaign season ends. The Fimir do not have a chance to prepare, but neither do you.

We are gonna be attacking this next turn or this turn either way I rather attack this turn then wait longer and risk them building up there defences even more/as the update said drawing in reinforcement from other cities

[ ] [Snorri] Continue Storm. Don't stop doing what's been working so far. Of all that could change for the next time, whenever it happens, your part is not one such thing. Snorri continues to fight away from the Throng.

don't think stopping the storm is worth the buff the emeny will get as a result which I except to be quite high

edit: I also except overall next turn they will have toughen up everywhere as a result

I am just very afraid what will happen if we do that we have found cleary them working on some nasty misthief with the old one stuff and dwarfs take time fimir do not

The more time they get the more irreplabe damage is done both to albion and the northen lands they are cleary working to corrupt for the 4

I want to make a Banner for the Hearthguard.

Master Rune of Traversal: Necessary Ingredients: [T3] Pegasus' Heart: Forces with this Rune travel over rough terrain with incredible ease, and at speeds that dwarfs don't often manage.
Rune of Perseverance (Increases resolve and endurance of allies while working towards a common goal)
Rune of Brotherhood (Lets a dwarf assimilate skills used by close comrades)

We have a T4 Pegasus Heart for it too.

That should help with the terrain, share the diverse skill set of the Hearthguard with each of them.

Probably won't combo, I think, but will still be worth it.
I too want a traversal banner but this I feel is actually 2 banner ideas in one. A Traversal banner that is just pure zoom and a second MGrimnir/brotherhood banner is much more likely to combo. It's basically the 3 banners envisioned for the hearthguard: 1 to survive the storm (MMountainsouled or something), 1 Traversal, 1 Brotherhood.

Damnit those rolls, ugh reason why dice fill me with anxiety.

Fitting it would happen against Nurgle thou.

I'm not sure how to proceed on this case. Part of the reasoning is on who is left. Chaos can work together if they have too, but the quality of that teamwork probably still depends on who is left. We have Nurgle, Khorn, and Tzeentch. Tzeentch does not get along with the other two, but Khorn and Nurgle don't have any huge disagreements. I wanted to get rid of Nurgle because then Tzeentch and Khorn would be left working together and that screams disfunction junction, or a buddy cop movie.

But that was a lot of casualties. If we do go ahead and actually succeed then we should probably stop there. Another campaign turn like we just had would be really bad.

Well damn I'm leaning towards retreating and calling in more allies before we go in again personally and spending that time better preparing and replenishing our loses.

They may be Firmir but I would expect Khorne city to fight Tzeentch city more often as those martial representatives hate magic users.
Better remove Nurgle from play and then we can pull back for the time being.

Not every war has to be finished all at once.

My main concern with pushing forward is the Throng exhausting itself destroying Nurgopolis only for the Khornate or Tzeentchian armies to sally out and hit us on the way home. Retreating now would mean the Nurgle city has more time to fester but with the Undivided city gone, there is no common... 'ally' is not the right word but 'person all four can tolerate' between them. Hopefully this would bite any further attempts at cooperation between them but failing that, the Throng will at least still have time to adjust their strategy and gear up for the upcoming slog.

@soulcake is the general assumption from the Thanes, Kings, and Snorri that the Nurgle forces will be bolstered by the dead of this most recent battle and thus at least a little stronger if we try again right now immediately?

The undivded one would have been a unifying factor for them yes but dont understate the shared hate khorne and Nurgle have for the blue bird

Those 2 would join forces to dunk on him but take the fly out of it then those 2 would do what chaos do and attack another and not us when we return from swamp cleaning

remember there a unknown number of the city in the coast that are stronger than these one too/the war was never gonna end this turn cause of that either

khorne V nurgal
not really friends most times. has been known too ally sometimes. still stopping now to maybe regroup and rethink how too do things might not be the worst idea. could maybe punch out some rune work of some type to help even things out a little more.
3/5 is not bad for a campaign.
